  1. Brunch is not being discontinued but is cancelled whenever there are extra countermeasures against Noro Virus onboard.

Same for the flowers I guess. The crew is overworked in case of norovirus and needs to prioritize.

No more chocolate buffet in years.

  2. They were coming out of the Port of Vigo if I can see correctly, and this port is notorious for the Atlantic swell hitting you exactly head-on...:D

I love it, although I am like Nelson...extremely sensitive to seasickness...

  3. As a side note,

365$ is WAY too expensive for any Hilton.

Try some of the smaller B&B like boutique motels, have a look at Trivago for best pricing.

We love Coconuts and can also recommend the Casablanca Cafe for delicious food, including seafood, in a romantic environment next to the Ocean.

  4. To be honest, If I were a kid, I'd be bored on a Celebrity ship.

Some pools are only for +16, there is no climbing wall or flowrider or F1 simulator, there is also no waterslide and most entertainment is geared towards adults.

There is no centrum promenade onboard Silhouette, but she does have a beautiful Atrium and a good amount of shops.

I have heard though that the Children's programme is very good.

  5. Those that cruise frequently are a minority, most passengers are infrequent cruisers.

Celebrity needs to become attractive again to the infrequent or first time cruiser who is looking for an affortable hut comfortable modern cruise experience. Rhis is where the future of the company lies, and the Miami office seems to agree.

Carnival became Huge thanks to the first time cruiser who got addicted to the product, introduced more new cruisers and kept innovating. Same goes for RCCL.

Celebrity is still looked at by many as a semi HAL senior citizen cruise line. This has to change if X wants to survive.

Look at HAL... They are the problem child of the Carnival Group. Why? Because they fail to innovate ( cost cutting rampant there too by the way) have old fashioned interiors, old fashioned entertainement and an old passenger demographic that is literally slowly dying.

  6. Ghstudio,

The Acapella groups on Celebrity were sometimes talented, sometimes abysmal, but always seen for maybe 30 minutes max. Each day, mostly performing the same songs, mostly old songs in an oldfashioned way.

We have tons of friends, all in their thirties and forties, all with enough holidays to take two vacations a year, but who refuse to go on a Cruise as they think it is for "old people" and utterly boring.

Celebrity NEEDS to make the ships more attractive to a younger clientele. But...

You are RIGHT that they should also keep being attractive to the more mature guests, who as you correctly point out, represent the current majority of clientele.

One thing they could do is to give the members of the Celebrity Orchestra some solo time. Some of these are very talented and deserve more recognition.

  7. Changes in the entertainment were very needed.

The entertainment was geared to seniors, not to the 30-40 age demographic that Celebrity aims to attract and to which we belong.

Face it, our age group is the future for the cruise line. There are still enough classical options available, but acapella groups are fine in a retirement home, not on a modern cruise ship.

That is not to say that I am a fan of several DJ's onboard. But a great party band like the Smart Casuals ( currently on Silhouette) is very welcome.

We do like the Philipino bands though, especially Caroussel and Kenosis!

I would like them to add some saxophone players to the entertainment lineup.

  8. We have done 7 Celebrity cruises in the past three years and have found the food, service and entertainment to be consistently excellent.

Offensive behavior by other passengers may happen. On our recent Infinity cruise we had serial smoking violations by Europeans staying in cabins next to us and one cabin over. Celebrity responded, but apparently the due process to prove the smoking is a high threshold. DW and I both saw people on those balconies smoking, but apparently, that is not enough to prove the violation, which I understand is a $2000 fine.

We still plan on more Celebrity cruises, but will ask for another cabin if we get the serial smokers again.

And last cruise, I saw Americans shouting to the crew and keeping their baseball hats in the MDR

Can we please refrain from Nationality bashing?!

Smoking on balconies is not allowed by Celebrity, and this for good safety reasons, It is however done by some passengers, not only Europeans. ( although we do have a lot of chain smokers, especially in Southern and Middle European countries.)

  9. One of our Cruises on the last evening I put the last piece of luggage outside of our cabin. The next sound I heard was the cabin door close and latch. No card to open the cabin door, the wife taking a shower and I was standing there wearing only my boxers. Lucky for me the next person I saw in the hallway was the guy collecting the luggage. I asked him to call down to guest relations and have someone come up and let me in. That was the longest few minutes I’ve ever spent waiting for someone. To top it off others Cruisers were heading back to their cabins. Yikes! The guy from security assured me this wasn’t the first time he has seen this and I told him it probably wouldn’t be his last. When disembarking the next morning he saw me as we were leaving the ship and he gave me thumbs up and a big smile.

This happened to me ...only WITHOUT the boxers:eek::o

During the night, I had to go to the bathroom, was like a zombie and took the wrong door. Before I knew it, Despegue was locked in the hallway as God created him...luckily my wife is a very light sleeper and I managed a quick escape back in:D

  10. There is absolutely nothing in Qsine that hasn't been done over and over again in hundreds of land based restaurants. It really is NOT novel, taste and quality is very average and everything reminds us of a mediocre Chain restaurant, including the over-friendly and over-familiar service.

We did it once, it was ok, certainly not worth the surcharge.

I vote to replace the current menu with locally sourced food and menus.

  11. OP...

I was a bit too harsh and critical in my previous post.

Personally, I would go for Murano for your celebration. You can find the menu on the celebrity website by the way, or just search it here on the forum... The service team will treat you like royals, do not forget to mention upfront the reason for the celebration

The other restaurants are not that special in my families opinion.

  12. Guys...

45$ for a piece of BBQ meat at Lawn Club grill:eek:

Qsine is very average fare, presented in a kitchy and really not that novel way ( thing ten years ago in Europe).

Murano is a good quality restaurant with table side preparations and partly silver service. It is by far the best for the money, but still not worth the surcharge in my opinion. ( " lobster" is still the warm water type )

All in all, the speciality restaurants on X are overpriced, overhyped and in dire need of a revamp and downward price adjustment
