  1. Wait..............so, you are OK doing it, but you are angry on behalf of others???

Just upload your photo. It will all be fine, for you and for everyone else.

Where do you read that I am angry on the behalf of others? I was simply stating a fact that many people not much older than myself couldn't do this without help. I also did not say that I was OK doing it, I had a feeling it was redundant and thanks to the other responses I am comfortable knowing that I am not going to do this, nor is hubby. No anger here......obviously you didn't either know the answer or have the courtesy of a polite response.

  2. Our last few cruises have been on Celebrity but we're heading out to the New England/Canada Anthem cruise in September. Got an email saying that we could do the online check in.....so far so good, right? Wrong, first page required you to upload a photo or have your webcam post it to the page. I know this is a simple task for most of us to do but my first thought was wth?!! You have to show a photo id at checkin even if you have a SetSail pass and secondly, what about older people who aren't tech savvy at all. Just curious about others opinions.

  3. I use a small mobility scooter that is easily broken down (by hubby due to the weight of the drive train). It was easy to get used to it and I would imagine it's a lot easier to handle than an electric chair. I am limited with standing, stairs and walking more than a few yards. I bought mine from Drive (Amazon) for around $1400 and never shop or travel without it.

    Cheers, Lynda

  4. I have only cruised on Oasis once, back in 2010. It was my sister's wedding and a lot of my memories are blurry!!! I know there is a Diamond Lounge but I remember going to the Concierge Lounge that overlooked the back of the ship.....could even see the Aqua Show. Just booked today, going solo and will be solo in a small mobility scooter for the first time....hubby wants to stay home and watch football etc :rolleyes::rolleyes: (go Steelers!!). I have checked the deck plans.....my apologies in advance because I'm sure this question has been asked before x a few million!

    Thanks, Lynda

  5. Just curious how are you getting from Victoria to Vancouver? We are considering this for 2017. thanks

We are flying from Victoria to Vancouver. I can't remember the exact amount but it was Air Canada and around $100 pp, we are staying at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport then will take a car service to the port (cheaper than a taxi for sure!!!) and this worksfor us....the ferry schedules were tight but this is only a 40 minute flight!

  6. Thanks, people, I appreciate the advice. We had a butler when we went around South America...a couple of days it was really rough as we went around the horn. He would always check on us, bring us soup and toast on the really bad days! We are really low maintenance as well but I will say that our butler (the one we had on Celebrity Infinity) was one of the kindest service person, oh yeah and the Martini Guy from Scotland, that we have ever had.

    Cheers, Lynda:)

  7.

We embark Solstice on 2 September 2016 for the Alaska portion of our trip. We have to get off in Victoria and make our own way to Vancouver to embark for the leg to Hawaii. We have made those arrangements. Question is, we have the same sky suite for the entire 3 weeks with pp grats and a butler. The last time we had a butler we didn't have pp grats so now we are at a loss of what to do......is the butler included in the pre paid grats? I know that we always cash tip above and beyond the ppg's for great service but this one has me wondering.

Thanks in advance, I can't find any guidance from Celebrity regarding ppg's and a butler......

    Lynda

  8. Bingo! ;)

If Celebrity would do like Princess and HAL does, and do one night cruises between Seattle and Vancouver, your situation would be a lot easier. For example, if Solstice first sailed a one-night cruise from Seattle to Vancouver, and the last Alaska voyage was round trip Vancouver (instead of Seattle to Vancouver), then you could board the Alaska segment in Vancouver (instead of Seattle), see Alaska and remain on board for the Vancouver-Honolulu segment without any interruption.

Thanks......what a pain!!! Oh well, as I said before.....it will be a great trip regardless of the inconvenience. It will be another adventure!!!

    Lynda

  9. No, that has nothing at all to do with it!

I think I got it.....it's because essentially we're going from Seattle to Honolulu on the same vessel......am I finally getting it?!!! I still think it's ridiculous and a frickin' inconvenience to say the least! Oh well, it's all good in the end isn't it?!!! If this is the most I have to worry about then I am one lucky woman!!

    Cheers to you all,

    Lynda :p

  10. Hi guys, looking for some input here because as many times as we have spoken to Celebrity travel planners we end up with the same result....insanity I guess!!!

Anyway, we are leaving on Solstice 2 September 2016 for an Alaska cruise that stops in Victoria for 4 hours on the 8th of September and final embarkation is Vancouver. We are booked on the same ship, same cabin to take the next leg to Hawaii and assumed (I know what that means but when we booked it we weren't told any of this) this would be a back to back cruise.

Per Celebrity, we have to disembark in Victoria, BC on 8 September and make our own way to Vancouver to re-embark the next morning, 9 September. We have been told that this is due to the Jones Act which I'm familiar with but far from an expert!!

I don't understand why disembarking in Victoria, BC makes any difference than disembarking in Vancouver, BC then rejoining the ship as a back to back. We have already been given a $250 shipboard credit for in the inconvenience which is greatly appreciated. We have also made travel arrangements to fly from Victoria to Vancouver on 8 September, stay the night at the airport hotel then taxi or car service to the port to re-embark on the Solstice for the Hawaii leg.

This seems like a pain in the you-know-what and I just can't wrap my head around it....Victoria and Vancouver are both in BC....the next leg ends up in Honolulu.....Can you guys offer your opinions or previous experiences with this? I would really appreciate it....we will do what we have to do as far as Celebrity goes since this is a 25th anniversary celebration.

Thanks in advance, and thanks for reading the entire convoluted story!!

  11. Great move...we used to live just a few miles from the port and this will be great for all the restaurants there. Probably will need a shuttle but since I haven't been there for a year I don't know. They were going to have a venue across from the restaurants that would have local vendors selling stuff....another great business opp. I am assuming this is to make room for the Oasis at the new, dregged up dock??!!

  12. I would like to add my condolences.....I am a RN and kinda had a feeling that the last cruise you took together would be his final one. I am so very sorry for you and your family's loss, take some comfort knowing that he is no longer suffering.

From one daddy's girl (mine passed in 1983) to another.....

  13. We did this cruise last month, it was a 9 nighter out of Boston after Brilliance was repositioning. We also stayed at the Seaport Hotel which is fabulous and worth the price. Ten or Fifteen minutes to the port or airport depending on the traffic....,.which is horrible!!! We didn't get to see the leaves change but we had some fabulous tours and self tours. If you are thinking about booking this cruise, The Ultimate tour with Anne's house was amazing. The lobster lunch was the best we had in 4 ports!!

  14. :p

They will give you some....ask your steward or call the access desk....we are having a beautiful stretch of summer weather here in maine....

Thanks.....I am wondering what the temps will be....being a Florida girl I already know I am bringing a couple of jackets, scarfs, Ugg boots then I stall....I have one decent pair of jeans, some decent sweaters, lots of leggings etc I have never been up there before and can't wait. These health issues are new but we don't want to cancel the trip:p We will be checking out the weather channel daily!

    Thanks for your response!

  15. .....first time in a scooter, first time with c-pap. A year ago I would have never believed this was me, but it is. We are cruising to the New England/Canada fall cruise but have to fly out to Boston. Does the ship, Brilliance, sell distilled water onboard?

    Thanks in advance

    Lynda:o:o:o

  16. Brianna....I hope your dad is getting stronger and better by the day. I have a question for you...I loved your review about your boston harbor cruise. Your dad was able to leave his scooter at a restaurant on the harbor....do you remember the name of it? We will be staying at the Seaport Boston Hotel...Thanks in advance. I love all your reviews, they are so personal and friendly...lots of advice and honesty!!
