Branson is Las Vegas for old folks and old country music artists and there's a huge lake there called Table Rock Lake, very popular for residents and tourists.

This is considerably north of Branson. I had no idea the greater metro Camdenton area was high on tourist destinations.

Back to Carnival: the pot smoking on Panorama in January was noticeable and the 4 day Radiance cruises have people openly smoking on deck as well as cabins. The dogs in Long Beach must have poor sniffers for so much pot to get past them.

OP is correct, crew has an area on 5 forward on the port side for smoking also. Passengers have 5 forward starboard. It used to be open all the way around but 5 forward port side has been roped off for crew only to have some more outdoor space and smoking is permitted there.

When I sailed Panorama January 14th - 21st this was no longer the case. I assumed the change had been made due to the relaxation of covid regulations for crew.

Too late to edit my PP.  So edit follows:

Edit: I forgot that a mild mint flavour was detected during the very scientific study in a batch of Carnival "chocolates" from circa 2010, so I deleted (rather, I would have deleted, if it hadn't been too late to do so🙄) the "if they ever did" clause about mint flavour.  Just keepin' it honest, y'all.😁

I don't miss them. They were mostly lecithin, not chocolate, and were akin to the same product used to make cheap easter confections like bunnies, etc. Now if Carnival had been putting Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares on the beds, those I would miss. Chocolate Caramel Squares | Ghirardelli

And the 3 “bellhops” in the world that fit your crazy qualifications somehow changes that?

You haven't the first clue. Cruise lines, like Carnival, have job descriptions for their hospitality crew modeled after American hotel workers. This is nothing new.

Bellhops are typically not paid via automatic 'gratuities' so forgive me for being slow on the uptake here. I simply don't see the connection.

They are when assigned to move the bags with guests that are part of a group sales contract that specifies a guaranteed tip for each bag which is taken to and from outside the guest room and taken to an excursion bus chartered for the group. In cities with high summer tourism these guaranteed tips go on the employees paychecks and are taxable. During peak season these tour groups contribute the bulk of tips paid to the bell staff. Fact.

The strollers left in the halls overnight are just as bad as the scooter violations and sometimes worse. Here you can see two strollers parked overnight by the guests staying in one inside cabin. Dad's stroller model has oversized tires and is extra wide to accommodate dad's need to jog with junior twice a day. Parents should consider the safety of their children, as well as those of other families on the ship, and get a suite if they insist on taking full-size strollers on the cruise.

To the OP who said the cabin steward said it was OK to park their scooter in the hallway you should know that no steward will jeopardize losing their tip by  telling you that you have to park it inside your cabin. This is why Carnival assigns the task of speaking to the guest who is violating the safety rule to the Housekeeping Floor Supervisor.

This has entitlement all over it.

in no other scenario anywhere is your room serviced twice per day.

Turn down service in America happens across the country in first class hotels daily. This is what amazed me when I first cruised Carnival, they were a budget line offering an extra service typical of first class American hotels. I can understand why turn down had to go and why some Carnival cruisers miss it.

  8. Some flight attendants take too long with the FAA required emergency evacuation procedures, too, but I don't hear people growling about it.

The you tube videos of the Costa Concordia capsizing are a good indicator of how things can go terribly wrong at boat stations in an emergency. Even the captain jumped on the overhead of a rescue craft to save his life!

I see in the near future one of the main cruise lines changing the model.  If i were the guy in charge i would simply add the tip amount($100 a week). To the fare.

Be sure to allow a big increase in cruise fare prices to pay the U.S. corporate payroll taxes the cruise lines have avoided by doing things as they are.

You will never see a credited statement by a crew member about disliking trinkets.  If you ever watch the posted videos by crew members showing their personal quarters, you will not see guest gifts.

Imagine an in-cabin video interview on crew-center.com of Carnival's only steward who prefers trinkets to cash. They'd have to have a cabin all to themselves to hold the junk.

The crew are well trained to accept offered items with graciousness.

This comment goes to the heart of the matter. Now the crew will be able to politely refuse any and all non-commercially prepared and sealed consumable items due to company regulations. The crew must be happy to have a good excuse for turning down fruitcake, etc. 🙂

I had an inside room on floor 7 (oh yeah, that's another pro tip. I feel like staying on floor 7 on this class of ship meant it was an easy few flights of stairs up or down to wherever I wanted to go), a little bit closer to the forward side than I would prefer, but it was still fine.

Deck 7 isn't for us, too many kids running around to the trampoline zone place and hanging around sitting on the stairways. Thanks for your review of Panorama, your food photos made me hungry.

  13. On the Panorama cruise of January 14th I saw guests engaged in quiet activities in the library who were informed they had to vacate the room for the "art" auction. That's plain wrong and shouldn't happen. I'd rather Carnival ban the Park West company from their ships. They don't sell original art, they only sell serigraphs that are licensed by the artist. When they say "limited" artworks they are only limited to the amount they can sell. Google Park West Settlement.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I say if I wanted a copy of the painting Dogs Playing Poker I'd shop on Craig's List or go to a garage sale.

Of course, you can order anything you want.

For now. Since Carnival began charging $5 for a third MDR entrée in November they are looking for other ways to trim their food cost. Most of us know how the steak and eggs was degraded to a tough gristle and sinew mess they call strip loin.

If enough people " order anything they want" at brunch then changes will come all the sooner.
