  1. Just there last week. Cab at pier waited until there were six of us and charged us 12.50 pp each way. I tried to get him to take less since there were six of us but he would not. He did come back as asked right on time and charged the same on the way back for four of us. It is quite a ways, almost 30 minutes and he drove pretty crazy.

Porta Marie is just beautiful. Having visited most of the islands in the Caribbean I can say this is my favorite. I think it's the blue of the ocean that I love. We had not been here for several years and it is much busier now. Still fairly quiet but by 1100 all the chairs were taken. We got there at 0930 and very few were there at that time so I suggest you go early. We took lots of pics. Snorkeling is excellent and they take divers out too. Food was not cheap, 2 drinks and two fries with tip was $25. We went back at 2:00 and still had time to walk into town to shop. Free wifi at the bar.

  2. Just there last week on excursion. Great beach, maybe the best on St. Thomas. Quiet and remote but that's how we like our beaches. It would be nice to go and stay longer but I would be a little concerned about getting a cab back on our own. Very few people were there. No food or drink if you went on your own but it's not hard to get something to take at the pier as we have done that for water island.

  3. Off the Adventure yesterday. Drink prices are crazy. We drank much less due to pricing. A drink by the pool...$12.75 with auto gratuity. Mikes hard lemonade $6.50. Just too steep for us. No way will we get the package as our average used to be 2-3 drinks pp a day. Now maybe we will buy one a day. Very few wine by the glass available so again we just skipped it at dinner.

  4. First off we always purchase insurance even when we cruise last minute. So next time I would encourage you strongly to get some.

But on the topic of surgery. The DH cruised 4 weeks after major abd surgery with a six inch incision. The major point is check with your doctor and know there will be some restrictions on activity. Walking is good but not to exhaustion. I babied him, would not let him lift anything and no excursions involved anything strenuous. I think it was actually good for him as he was already back working and got a week to lay around and relax and read.

    Have a great time

  5. If they don't say on your departure info that you need to out of your cabin At a certain time we go to the dining room for breakfast and come back and get our things out of our cabin. We warn the steward ahead of time and allow them to strip the beds if they want. We still try to be out by 9:00 or so. If the stewards attitude is good about it we leave an extra tip of $5 to $10 as a thank you. Turn around day is really a lot of work and we don't want to make it worse but usually they have plenty of other cabins to clean.

  6. Lost a pound this week but just back to where I was two weeks ago. A weekend trip hurt a lot. Still over all only three pounds to go and two more weeks to cruise. I won't quite make it but plan on getting right back on it when I get back to lose what a put on and those last pesky pounds. Feels great to have lost 11 so far.

  7. We have sailed with Carnival several times in the past three years and we are done. I would rather do an AI then go back on them. But with RCLs prices too high we will be looking at Princess, NCL and Celebrity. Celebrity may be at bit higher like RCL but at least I think you may get a higher quality product. I never used to even price other lines - just went with RCL, but no more.

  8. We have three more cruises booked with RCL then I think we will be doing some looking around. Prices are just getting too high. I just booked what may be our last for May 2016 for four cabins to take the kids and grands. Over all the price was about about what I would expect to pay for four balcony cabins but instead could only afford inside cabins. We have been on Princess and it wasn't bad and need to try NCL again I guess. For now I will not cancel anything but honestly they are pricing us out the door. We are Diamond plus but we can build loyalty with other cruise lines too.

Last year we cruised three weeks, one was free with Credit card points. Those two weeks we paid for are less then what we are paying for one week this year in the same catagory of cabins.

  9. Down only half a pound this week but still nine over all with 6 more to go. Hanging in there. Still doing WW and now eating My Fit foods once a day. More expensive then frozen dinners but also fresh and not so boring. Just five weeks till the cruise, hope to lose at least three more but we shall see...

  10. We arrive between 10:30 and 11:00.

We use lighthouse covered parking. Or inside at VIP but that will be full if your cruise is close.

Drop your luggage off first and it will be easier then dragging it all with you on the shuttle. The DH drop me and luggage off and goes and parks the car.

Try Izumi. I don't like Asian food but the steak on the hot rock was awesome.

  11. 43 pounds altogether is awesome! Go on your cruise, have fun and get back on the wagon afterwords!

I have lost 8 total with 7 more to go. It has been harder lately. I am just so hungry. Hoping for the weather to improve a bit next week so I can get out and walk. I know I need to now add more activity to get the last half off. Overall I am pleased cause it's hard work! Someone noticed at work last week that I had lost weight and that was a huge boost. My clothes are starting to feel a bit more loose.

Have a great week all of you!
