The spa!!
That would be good idea but my bid is on the Haven Spa Suite... I could get a massage or two though.
-
Just cancelled my advantage bids for Pearl 9 day out of NO 11/10/17. The priced dropped so much was cheaper to upgrade from my comped SE to an H4 Haven 2 bedroom total cost with bump on OBC was 14 bucks way better than the 1200 I was willing to pay to upgrade. Watch prices sometimes it is cheaper to just move!

Good for you finding a better deal. My only issue with more OBC , is where to use it. We do not book excursions thru the cruise lines and we have the SDP and UBP. ??
-
Location.
H5 - within the Haven complex (sleeps 3)
H9 - outside of the Haven complex and on a different deck (sleeps 2)
Ok, makes sense. Since location has never been a big deal for me, I guess I never considered that a reason for the higher cost.

On the BA, why are the Haven Courtyard more than the Haven Spa Suites? If you book a Haven Spa, you get the extra perk of the spa access, so why would it be less expensive than the Haven Courtyard? There is probably a simply answer, but I am missing it?

I do hope you are right. I don't have experience myself with this yet but from what many NCL regulars have posted on here, you cannot use non-refundable OBC [from NCL promos] for the DSC. The OBC that a travel agent gives as a give for example can be used.
I double checked. The OBC that we had was not through a promo, so that is why we could use if for the DSC.
-
Another thing that NCL does not allow is for you to use the OBC they give you towards the gratuities. We have $25pp [not much but better than nothing] on our Cuba cruise [from Havana nights promo] and we can't apply that towards the DSC. Every other lines I've sailed lets you use OBC for the daily service charges.

We have always used our OBC toward our daily service charges. Is this something new? Our last sailing was 10/2016.

Just received confirmation of successful upgrade from sail away inside rate to spa balcony room for $100pp for the Getaway transatlantic on Oct 15th. Very excited!
Great deal!!! Congrats!
-
Regardless of whether we actually do get the upgrade, or not....
We have a nice stateroom on a cool ship, and we're going to have a great cruise!
That is the best attitude to have. I would love for my offer to be accepted, but if not, I am happy with the cabin I have.
-
Even if you're on-board still, or head back to ship for lunch?
Sorry if my post was not clear. On the island, itself. The thing to do seems to walk back to the ship for lunch and drinks.
-
Just a heads up. UBP is not included at your stop at Harvest Caye.

Lol, So True. Posting low winning bids might be a ploy to keep others from over bidding them.

That is true.
I doubt that this was the case in the particular incident I mentioned, since they were posting rejection letters on the day of the sailing. 9/10
Not sure what anyone would get out of lying about their bid at that point.
Or what they "claimed" they bid. I guess some people always want to - one up - someone else.
-
So true.
But don't let them know not to post! Just don't post your own! [emoji6]

Sounds like a plan. ;p

I am just wondering if all this discussion on this thread and on the roll calls is a "good" thing. I just saw on the 9/10 sailing of the BA. Someone posted that their offer of $50 pp for a balcony was accepted about 3 weeks ago. Someone else posted that they just received a rejection letter that their $65pp for a balcony was not accepted.
I would not want anyone else knowing before my offer was accepted/rejected what I bid. JMO.

Hopefully we can get an answer for someone just coming off the BA?
-
There really should be some option. If you only want nachos and pretzel sticks, really $15?

I wouldn't consider booking a cruise during hurricane season.

June 1 - November 30 is out. What about those Northeast winters? So sailing out of NYC would be excluded from say mid Dec - mid March. I guess those of us in the NE can only sail April and May. Really???
As someone else stated... comments like these are not helpful.
-
Another thing to consider is the infamous "per-exsisting clause". An example would be that you are taking heart medication for years, you had a cardiac incident and could not travel. If you do not have that per-exsisting wavier your claim could be denied.
-
I put out a request to someone on the Sept 10 sailing of the BA, to see if this up charge is still in effect. Hopefully we will know when that sailing returns.
-
Funny!! And very true. I live in the Midwest and tornadoes are common. I guess nobody should live in the Midwest either. :)
Not during tornado season, I guess.....

I keep reading about everyone's upset comments concerning cancelling cruise, rerouting cruise, worried about homes back home if they cruise, and on and on. I feel bad for you all, but if I've said it once I'll say it again--this is the risk you take by booking during hurricane season. You can defend it all you want, but it is a total waste of money! And a whole lot of pain, worry, and stress. It's great when it works out in your favor, but do really want to risk your hard earned cruised dollars?
Do you actually realize hurricane season is 6 months of the year?
-
My thoughts are with everyone this weekend. Hopefully Irma surprises us all and heads North out to sea.
I don't think it is a waste to book during hurricane season. We have had 4 successfully October cruises and hopefully a 5th one this year. The weather has been beautiful! Afterall, hurricane season is 6 months long. That would be a large chunk of the year to block off. 50%.
Happy sailing!
Agree 100%.

Congrats, yes i know about the Spa Haven suite with Balcony but someone else said Haven Spa Balcony those are two different things, i don't think there is such a thing as a Haven Spa Balcony....
They worded it different - same thing.
All cabins in The Haven are considered Suites.

If you go to the Bahamas, stay on the ship that day. You can enjoy the amenities of the ship without any of the crowds. That is what we will be doing on our November sailing on the BA.
What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

It cannot be used for DSC, which in IMO stinks. But that's the way it is. There are only the 2 of us so we don't need any extra SDP. I already have a perk for 10 free pictures with my booking. We are going GSC, so I could check into a villa there, thanks for that tip. Otherwise I will be spending more time than I like in the casino as the OBC can be used there.
