  1. They won't you know.

I know... but... I keep hearing that same statement over and over again. So what are they referring to? Daily Gratuities? Specialty Restaurant upcharges?

I also hear the "nickle and dime you to death". I am not aware of these extra charges?

  2. I know this doesn't apply to CCL, but Royal has just completely canceled the 8/27 cruise out of Galveston. Read on the Port of Galveston page.

That makes more sense almost anything I have read regarding this unfortunate situation. When LOS gets to port, the passengers will just need to use her as a hotel until they can safely leave Galveston. UPdate, she is head to MIA.

  3. Ollie's Trollley is only offering a 9:30 am tour. we arrive on the Dawn at 8:00 and tender. Do you think that would be a tough time to make?

I wish I could remember what time we scheduled our tour... we almost missed it. It all depends on what tender time you can get. Do you have any perks with NCL, such Haven guest or Latitude reward category (Gold and above get priority tender tickets). If you are on the Gem you shouldn't have to worry as much as BA...not near as many people trying to get off at the same time. Book you tender tickets as early as possible, check when you get on the ship.

  4. I would definitely recommend Ollie's Trolley. It is a easy walk from the tender port. One word of caution, since you are not booking through the cruise line, do not book your trolley ride too early. The guests that have tours booked through NCL will be the first off the ship, you will need to take a later tender.

Sample some blueberries while in Bar Harbor - pie, muffins, anything.

We enjoyed our lobster at West Street Cafe... reasonably priced.

  5. You can have snow in NYC or Boston in November or you might catch shorts and t-shirt weather. It is the luck of the draw. We returned from a cruise the last week in October a few years ago to a major snow storm. We managed to catch the last bus out of NYC before service was shut down.

  6. As much as I love DCL, we chose NCL for our NE/Canada cruise. The itinerary seems better and they offer longer cruises for the same cost as a five day DCL. Although the itinerary seems to be improving now that they go to Quebec City. Panama Canal cruise I am still up in the air about. The other cruise lines seem to go to a lot more ports, but are they worth even getting off the ship for? If anyone has done the DCL PC cruise and a PC cruise on another line, please let me know if it was worth giving up the niceties of DCL.

We have done the NE/Canada cruise twice on NCL (two different ships) and have another one scheduled for 2018 on the new NCL Escape - no complaints. Itinerary and price were my first concern, plus got all the NCL perks.

Did the Panama Canal on Princess. This was not our first Princess sailing but the first Panama Canal. Food, service and cost - could not have asked for more. The biggest issue was the fact that the ship had just been refurbished, so more passengers and the ship did not seem to account for that as far as the dinning room wait and the lack of seating for the shows. There were also some issues with the shore excursion vendor at on of the ports which effected alot of passengers. Luckily we were not one of them but I have since heard that has been corrected. Would I sail Princess again for the PC cruise, YES.

  7. OP never replied to any of our requests to clarify what he/she was referring to as the charging for EVERYTHING statement.

Not sure how this works on DCL, only thing I can think of that we paid an extra charge for (which we were aware) was a corkage fee of $15 for a bottle of wine that was brought to the Bayou Cafe.

  8. Obviously it is OP's choice. We just never experienced "charge for everything" on Princess more than on DCL other than soda. We do prefer the way DCL charges for internet' date=' but both charge.[/quote']

I am curious also as to what those "charge for everything" charges are?

  9. Princess can do alot of "charging for everything" and still get no where near the cost of DCL. We have always found Princess food to be very good. You just have to evaluate what is more important in each cruise to you take and decide from there. I guess the OP has decided on DCL which is certainly their choice.

  10. I have been looking into Cancel for Any Reason insurance; same circumstance as you. I am afraid Cuba will be blocked off again and we get a 4 day bahamas cruise, but at a very, very high rate in that case. Check out insuremytrip.com.
