  1. Thanks for the wonderful post Rosalyn!  We have sailed once on the Azamara Journey in the Caribbean and liked everything except our cabin.  Now we know which cabins to book.  We are still watching to see if our November 3rd Hawaii cruise on the Koningsdam will happen.  If not, we will book another cruise as we are flexible.  The only cruise we have booked in 2021 is our Mississippi River cruise on the American Queen in March.

We are enjoying subscribing and watching Youtube videos from the following and recommend them:

    Tips for Travelers  (Gary Bembridge)

    Don's Family Vacations

    Traveling with Bruce

    Harr Travel, and

    Affluent Journeys

all are good videos to watch!

  2. We are long time HAL cruisers as well.  We are also disappointed with all the cutbacks they have been doing and a change in the culture of the cruises.  We have been watching Youtube videos about Oceania and really like what we see.  We have another HAL cruise booked and will go on it, then give Oceania a try.  Looks like fun.

Seaking of cars, I just bought a new Subaru Outback in February.  I got the top of the line Touring model with the Turbocharged engine and it is terrific!   My wife has a 2017 Audi A4 Quattro and that car is really fast and fun to drive.  Totally different cars, the Subaru has all the latest safety equipment, Audi charge a fortune for the upgrades.

Regretfully, we have cancelled all three legs of our Maasdam cruises of Jan 4, 2021, Feb 13, 2021, and March 4, 2021.

Skeptical whether cruises will actually take place or have significant itinerary changes.

Then the issue of health safety led to our final decision. With DW just rehabilitating from major emergency surgery and current Covid 19.

    Looking forward to next time!

Thanks for all you contributions here on Cruise Critic.

Bruce, please sent Sue our best wishes!  Hope to cruise with you again.

  4. Diana and I just took our 125% future cruise credit from the Alaska cruise and applied it to the November 3rd cruise on the Koningsdam out of San Diego to Hawaii for 18 days.  It is almost like a mini version of our Tahiti cruise!  We will have six days in Hawaii!

Portia - Kazu's list of future cruisers has you on an April 2022 cruise to Mexico on the Volendam.  Is that true?

  5. We had three cruises booked and paid for.  The first was a Mississippi River Cruise from Memphis to New Orleans on the American  Queen.  We were part of 140 person square dance cruise.  That cruise was cancelled and re-booked until next March, so we hope to go on that ship next year.

Our second cruise was a 14 night Alaska cruise from Vancouver that was scheduled to leave May 18th.  That cruise was cancelled and we will be receiving a 125% future cruise credit.  We would like to take a long Caribbean cruise in either November or January.

Our third cruise was the big one.  We were going to cruise on Crystal River Cruises from Budapest to Amsterdam leaving July 24th.  We were going to stop in Koblenz and had hoped to let Danni and Peter know when we were in town.  Also were had hoped to meet up with Rosalyn and Piet while in Amsterdam.  That cruise was cancelled today.  Since it is a lot of money we will be seeking a refund and doing something else next year.

We are both alive and well.  We are unhappy with all the uncertainties that prevent planning and are tired of being tied down.  We are going bike riding whenever we can and I get to go to the range and see my buddies there, so things have improved a lot.  Our RV is ready for some trips as soon as things open up more.  I have a feeling a lot of other people will be fighting for the same campgrounds.

Hope you all are well and are making new plans!  Chris, are you going on an RV Caravan this summer?
