I would prefer the Sapphire and that itinerary. I’ve been on both ships. The Sapphire is my favorite Princess ship. Both sound like good itineraries.

I never suggest to cruisers to stay at the port. I find it so much fun to see the islands I visit. Try googling Victor Bodden tours and send Victor an email. He has a great company. His prices are very reasonable. Victor would be happy to share information on his island to help you to decide what to do.

This is a beautiful island. Go out and see it.

I've been there a few times and the temps were in the 80's. I have found it very comfortable. Looking forward to being there next year. I have to buy some rum cakes.

Just did a search and found this thread. I was just on my Personalizer to try and book Crown Grill reservations for our Western Caribbean cruise. The reservations show closed.

Do you think we have a chance of booking onboard? I sure hope so. We would be disappointed.

Essie's Mom says they're all under the window (she's the expert on bed location in OV).

Princess reps would have no idea, unless you find one that actually has been on a cruise ship (most have not).

She may be the expert but I was in a cabin with the bed against the wall so there are a few of them. Not sure any cruiser has sailed in each and every cabin on a ship but maybe so.

I didn't know until I walked into the room so not sure if there would be any way to know prior to cruising.

Most likely most folks on the island are trying to figure out how they are going to make a living and feed their families, rebuild their homes , etc This include business owners who make their living from tourism. Yes, communication would help insure future business. But, it is possible they are consumed by the need to survive.

I know 600 is a lot of money and I would want it back. But, if I had already planned to spend it and did it would not be considered by me an absolute necessity. I would hope if I were in the same spot I would pray that my fellow world citizens had food, water, and shelter. Let alone hope that they can recover and have a favorable future.

And, I don't think you truly understand the DEVASTATION.

Very nice of you to post this. I received an email from Joyce as well. She is truly a strong person. Hoping she can recover soon. She ran a really good business and is very kind.

There is no internet on the island yet. How can they answer you? Give 'em some time. They are an upstanding organization.

Not true. I had sent an email to the tour operator we used last year sending thoughts and prayers and she replied.

4 smaller hotels in Simpson Bay and one on Dawn Beach are apparently open for business now.

That is great news. I loved our visit there last December. I know it will take time for the island to recover but it is good that step by step recovery is happening.

Last I heard it was still $39 (US Dollars). That includes the lunch and souvenir photo.

 

Also, remember to "refer" your friend to Princess so that you (and he/she) can get a $25 on board credit if you book a cruise in the future. You need to do this referral prior to making the booking for the BVE since it has to be for someone who is not already in their system, which your friend will be after they are booked for the BVE.

I tend to book private tour operators when I cruise. I never book with one that would not refund a deposit or payment due to missing the port.

Great deal for those who qualify. Even the 5 night 279.00 inside is a good price. If I lived in Florida I would book that. :):):)

Hopefully someone will post the 2018 schedule for you. Thanks for posting the remainder of the year. I haven't done a BVE in a long time but have a friend who has never cruised so may suggest we do one. Can you remind me what the cost of the BVE is?

You got some really good replies. I would be curious about which Princess ship you are sailing? It can be comparing apples to oranges depending on the ship you are sailing and have sailed.

I hope your daughter finds some good things to eat. There are a lot of choices.
