  1. We have a whole corner of our living room as a "cruise corner". Have 4 framed cruise photos from various ships on the wall above a bookshelf that the DH built. On top of the bookshelf are more cruise photos and our display of blocks. Can't help but walk by and wish we were already on the next scheduled cruise. Always makes us smile! :)

I really want a cruise corner. Maybe I can work on that with the house we are building.

  2. Who would demand a Jr. for $1,700 more than a full suite? Makes no sense.

Supply and demand meaning there are more Grand Suites left than Jr. Suites so the Jr. Suite price is higher. The one that seems funny to me is that I have seen the balcony guarantee price higher than the price for a D1 :)

  3. I'm on the cruise and I've not heard of any upgrades given out yet. I too noticed the grand suites but just thought someone had booked them I was not thinking upgrades this early. We can only hope a visit from the upgrade fairy will come soon!! Come join our thread for this sailing, we're having a get together after muster just to meet our fellow CC mates!!

Some of the Grand Suites came back :). There were 8 when I looked tonight.

  4. Not sure about that... 7708 and 7408 are corner afts- I would take that over any JS. The balcony is MASSIVE.

And this is my problem. I have cabin 9406 booked, which is an aft E1 - the balcony is larger than the side ship JS balconies. I don't like that there is less privacy on deck 9 (Deck 10 balcony railings are at our sliding doors - which means they look down on our entire balcony). But it is huge.

I guess I was spoiled with our mid-hump JS in March.

Double cruise points is temping too.. 16 points on this 8 day if we book JS.

Hey Todd, know how you feel. We just booked the aft Jr. suite on the Indy and 7708 was actually open and that is my favorite balcony. However I needed the extra points to reach Diamond Plus on this cruise and the price was right.

  5. I have never heard of anyone getting upgraded that far out with one exception. That being a specific room was needed (handicap, 3+ room) they will upgrade the person in that room to open the "old" room up for the booking. Even that doesn't usually happen until a month or so out.

I'm guessing they pulled the inventory off the market for some reason, or they did get booked. Either way you will never be "privy" to that information.

Thanks, yes I realize that I will never know for sure but thought I would ask here to see if any members may have been upgraded already.

  6. Has anyone been upgraded for the December 14th 6 night cruise? I ask because I have been watching the availability on Grand Suites for weeks and they have had 10 open of the 22 for a while. I checked on Thursday night and there were still 10 open and when I checked the next morning, 6 were gone along with the two owners suites that were left. I know that it is possible that they were sold but seems highly unlikely that they got sold in 9 over night hours. Of course I called C&A and they said they had not started upgrading and wouldn't until about 2 weeks before. Just wondering......

  7. Location is great for aft views, BUT- keep in mind you are right BELOW the Windjammer Cafe...IF you are light sleepers, you WILL possibly hear some noise from above-people or crew coming in early to eat, set up the tables, etc...I NEVER get a balcony that has public spaces above, nor below the cabin I want..I often get the JS on deck 9 on the HUMP..great views unobstructed, although the balcony is smaller than the aft balconies, it's still a nice size ( 94 SF)...my wife sleeps thru anything, but I am a light sleeper and have experienced noise from above or below because I took a cabin either on deck 6 ( above Royal P..) or deck 10 ( below Pool deck or Windjammer)...just keep that in mind, if no problem, great cabin..

    Big Al

Thank you. I am a light sleeper but I always use a sound machine at night. :)

  8. Since 1406 is a Junior Suite, it does not lose any furniture because it has a connecting door. That only occurs in smaller cabins.

Its walk-in closet is slightly smaller than other JS walk-in closets because it is at an angle. You probably won't notice it. ;)

Noise is only a problem if your neighbors are screamers or run their TV at a high volume, and that would be a problem even without a connecting door. The door really won't make a difference.

    That's a great cabin.

    :)

    Great, thanks.

  9. No, it's not on most ships. As mentioned above, the Diamond Breakfast is usually only on ships without a dedicated Diamond lounge. A few ships choose to continue this perk, even after getting a dedicated DL.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if that statement was referring to the speciality coffees or the dedicated diamond breakfast. LOL, I don't drink coffee so I didn't really know about that.

  10. There was 14 last time. They have different boats for different size groups,

that's the main reason i book independly, Group sizes are usually much smaller than cruise tours. price is usually better also but thats not our main focus. A more personal tour is a big thing for us

Thanks, I sent Mystic Man and inquiry.

  11. Mystic man is top notch. Doing them again in 5 weeks

Thanks for the info. Do they usually have crowded boats? I booked a snorkel tour through RCI once and there was about 80 people on the boat. Too many people for snorkeling ?

  12. We have privately booked with Hackshaw's Boat (see their website and tell them that Marc sent you) about 12 or 13 times now to go whale watching in St Lucia. They are a class operation, with great boats and crew.

Do a search and see some of my videos on youtube.

Going with them again in March, 2015

I contacted Chris and he said I needed to book through the cruise line :(
