OMG, so worth it. If you didn't see my thread from our week aboard the Dawn, check it out below. As you'll see, the thermal suite was never crowded for us. In fact, more often than not we were the only ones in there. The lap pool is great, as are the aft view heated loungers. I would never step foot on the Dawn without pre-purchasing the passes.
Doug, my DH and I will be the Getaway next week and visiting the same ports. I thoroughly enjoyed the thread with the pics and videos of your cruise. It was a pleasure to watch. Thank you.

My husband and I traveled with MSC (Divina) when they first sailed out of Miami. On our first voyage, we were in the Yacht Club Royal Suite. The following year, we were still in the Yacht Club, but a smaller cabin as the RS was already booked. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to travel the following year. When I was exploring cruises this year, I COULD NOT believe how expensive they have become for the YC. I knew once they got their foot in the door that their prices would skyrocket!
This year I was able to book on another line (not Carnival) that had a cabin larger than 16035 with all drinks included for less than half the price.
Have fun y'all!!

I'm going to be on the accessible penthouse in the Haven next week with my MIL who has limited mobility and will be using a scooter for most movement. If anyone has any questions let me know and I'll do my best to investigate!
I've read of the stair lift that goes from 16 up to the Vibe and Haven sun deck on 17 and also of the crew elevator that they'll let you use. I'm hoping that MIL will take full advantage of these options and not just sit in the cabin!

Please let me know if they will allow someone to use the crew elevator. My DH uses a scooter as his mobility is quite limited!

Check the Cruise Critic "Store: They have plastic luggage tag sleeves for $2.95 each or 4 for $9.50. I've had mine for a while and used them over and over. They're great! :)

Thanks to all!

Can someone tell me how many steps there are to get to Vibe Beach Club? I heard there is no elevator that goes there. Hubby is handicapped.

Is this a dinner show? Just want to be prepared!

I don't know about the other lines, but I do know that NCL does not allow emotional support animals.
-
You also need to make sure your scooter complies with dimensions required by the cruise line.

Does anyone have pics or videos of Margaritaville on the Getaway?
Thx

If need be, you can always rent a scooter for the week. I've done that for my hubby the last 3 times we've cruised and it was a godsend. You can take them off the ship as well. Check with "Special Needs at Sea" website.

Oh, ye of little faith..........The best fun I've had was trying to hold on desperately to my stool in the Casino as we rode the waves  .......and, as for managing not to roll out of the bed LOL
And..if you're tipsy from all those inclusive drinks, no one will know the difference. They'll think its the waves!! ;)

The lack of crowds and the personalized service. Not to mention the included drinks! :D

I couldn't have said it better myself. 85 Days till we sail!

Have you considered renting a wheelchair or scooter for her to more easily get around? You can check with http://www.specialneedsatsea.com
They will deliver it directly to your cabin prior to sailing and you just leave it there when the cruise is over.

I don't see why it should. What does it matter where your cabin is located? You could have a pass card which gives you access to the YC lounge/pool area etc.
As I said, I'd like to try the YC concept, but I really don't like to be so far forward on the ship so for me this would rule it out, thus losing a sale.
It's not going to change so you are wasting your time.I totally agree with riclop. That's why there are only 65 suites (or so) in the YC. We are trying to stay AWAY from the crowd.

My DH and I will be going on our 20th cruise this November. Over the last three years, he has been declining with Alzheimers. However, he LOVES cruising. I noticed that he is more relaxed while sailing than he is anywhere else except home. (Must be that salt air)!! I order a scooter and I tell him to just follow me. Even though I'm with him 24/7, I warn staff as soon as we arrive just in case we get separated and they appreciated that I told them. Fortunately he didn't get lost and we had a wonderful time. I feel that if he feels that happy at that moment in time, I will take him as long as I can. :)
Getaway Western Caribbean Cabin Choice?

Try an aft-facing cabin. We had one the last time we cruised and we LOVED it! :D
