  1. We will be there in a few weeks on the carnival pride but or stay is very short. Not sure we have a chance to go but still look into it.:D

  2. I see you can purchase for about $15 for a daily shuttle service in Freeport. It will pick you up from the cruise port and bring you too either Paradise Cove or Crystal Beach.

    1. Would you recommend this service?

    2. Which beach is the better choice?

    3. What I is there to do at each beach? (Food, water sports, beach chairs...)

Thanks in advance for any help!

  3. They have tested this scenario several times and and your cell phone does not demagnetize the hotel key. Put your phone on airplane mode while on the ship or leave it off until you get to the gym if you are truly concerned...

In case you wanted better proof read the article from the website above...

In each case there is probably something else causing the problem.

  4. I have never purchased the drink package before and I have looked on the Carnival website for and answer with no luck, so I am turning to my friends at CC.

I would like to purchase the (adult) drink package prior to sailing. Is this possible or do I have to purchase it on the day of sailing on the ship?

This is not a debate of "if" I should get the package just a matter of how and when.

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter...

  5. We have decided to bring a family friends daughter on our upcoming cruise. Because the cabins we had booked were only for two we had to relocate one of our cabins. Originally we had booked three cabins in a row for my family of six. My daughters in one cabin my sons in another and my wife and I in the third. We were then going to book a fourth cabin next to ours and bring our daughters friend and our family friends daughter. Before we booked it our daughters friend told us that she was unable to go due to scheduling conflict. We had already told our friends daughter and she was excited about going so we looked into our options. The cabins we had booked were 2 passenger only and the best our TA could do was to put the 3 girls in an inside cabin on the floor below us. Our daughters are 20 (twins) and our friends daughter is 16. We were concerned that they would be a level below us but we are fairly close to the stairs/elevators.

What are your thoughts on the girls being by themselves not so close to us?

  6. If the ship you are booking has a web cam check it daily to see where it usually docks and which way it faces. Even better is the port cams which show the ships as they are docked in port. This will help you get a better idea of which side of the ship would be best.

I used to make this a big part of my cabin choice when booking a cruise but now I am just glad to be sailing and will take whatever cabin is available for the best price.

  7. On our last cruise our youngest was 12 and was able to sign in/out of the kids club. Being we had late seating he was able to ask permission to leave when he was done with dinner and head to the Kids club with a friend who was sitting a few tables away. The other 8 kids ranged from 15 to 18 and stayed together most of the trip (multiple families cruising together). Our 12 year old was by far the youngest in the group and not able to go with the older kids to their group. Most nights even though he was able to sign himself out of the club we met him there at closing time. There was one night he was not there when we got there and we were concerned until we found his brother/sisters met and signed him out before we got there.

Our bigger concern with letting a youner child roam the ship is God forbid there was a true emergency (Fire, ship listing, iceberg...) and they were seperated from us not knowing where the other was. I have heard stories from ships that had problems that the staff was wonderful when it came to the kids in the groups during such emergencies. If they were not in a group and on their own roaming I would want to know where they were (preferably with us).

I also trust my kids in the sense that they would not be the ones throwing things over board. We have been on 3 cruises with my kids with a 4th booked for this summer. On every cruise we had warned our kids since the day we booked until we were on the ship about sticking together, not roaming aimlessly, no blocking the stairs, be respectful of others and do not get in trouble during our trip.

These are rules we expect of our children not only on a cruise but wherever we go. While we give our kids many freedoms they know that if they break our trust they will lose them. We are actually more concerned about our 19-20 year old daughters than our 14 year old son. We have warned them about not accepting drinks from anyone and staying in a group. I don't think we will have any problems but we still worry.

Our biggest pet peeve is the kids who roam the ship all day without a parent to be found. These are usually the kids who are constanly in the hot tubs even though the signs clearly state no children under a certain age or without a parent. I am sure without a doubt that God forbid something happened to one of these kids their parents would be the first to sue.

  8. If the current rate is 49.95 + 7.49 (15% gratuity) = $57.44 per person per day

    57.44 X 2 (people per cabin) = 114.89 per cabin per day

    114.89 X 7 (days) = 804.20 Total for 7 day sailing.

804.20 / 210 drinks (15 drinks max. per person per day) = $3.83 per drink

    804.20 / 140 drinks (10 drinks per person per day) = $5.75 per drink

    804.20 / 98 drinks (7 drinks per person per day) = $8.21 per drink

    804.20 / 70 drinks (5 drinks per person per day) = $11.49 per drink

So if you are drinking less than 7 drinks per person, per day I don't think it is worth it. If you have more than 7 drinks per person, per day then it is probably worth it. Remember that there is a max of 15 drinks per day for each cruiser and both people in a cabin have to buy the package.

I have plenty of friends that would love this package and the price as they had exceeded this $$$ amount on past cruises. For me and my wife, we will just pay per drink as we do not pass the 7 drinks per day. Some days we do but not everyday. Remember there are port days where you are off the ship for several hours.

This is just my opinion and simple math from the facts that are available.

  9. This is absolutely unacceptable :(. If true, I'll never be sailing with RC ! I've never been on a cruise where the mini bar item's couldn't be removed and replaced at the end of the cruise, and I don't really "need" thing's removed, as you do for medical reasons.

Then, again, if I really needed meds COLD, I'd ask for a cooler and ice every day!

It was on the Explorer OS last March out of NJ. We were told they could not remove the items which left no room for anything else. My wife used a small cooler bag with ice for her insulin.

  10. You can ask the steward to remove the mini bar items if you would prefer an empty fridge. That's what we have always done

They would not remove the mini bar items on RC, I thought they did on Carnival on our last cruise especially in the kids rooms.

  11. Our last cruise was on RCL and the frig was horrible. It was warm first of all and had spring loaded mini bar that the cabin steward said if anything was moved we would be charged for. My wife being diabetic keeps her insulin in the frig but it just wasn't worth it on this trip as it felt warmer than the room.

We will be sailing on the Pride this summer and was wondering if they have the mini bars in the frig as well?

We have also met family at the port but left with them to their house. On this cruise there will be too many of us to pick up and with the kids we want to either hit the beach or just stay at the pool on the ship. My brother lives close to the pier and said there was nice restaurants along the port with a full view of the ships. Many locals go and hang out for dinner or drinks to watch the ships pull out.
  13. I remember my father telling me about a program like this when he and my Mother sailed to Nassau in the late 70's early 80's. They had been to this port several times and wanted to do something different. They actually booked it through the excursion desk on the ship the morning they arrived in Nassau. The program tried to match you with a person in the same line of work as what you did. Being such short notice they were unable to pair my Father with someone in construction/architecture/engineering and they were paired with a family that owned a bakery. My parents were given a driving tour of the island and they had actually been brought to the families personal house and served lunch. They ended up visiting the bakery that they owned and then dropped back at the port after a wonderful day. As they were dropped at the port another car pulled up with one of the workers from the bakery. They had given my parent a sheet cake for their anniversary (25th - 30th not sure which they were celebrating at the time) The cake was delivered to the kitchen and brought out after dinner for anyone in the area to share.

Overall my parents loved this as it was an informal tour of the island and its people outside the tourist trap areas. Even though it was not what it was meant to be at the time (paired with someone in the same business as my dad) they talked about this trip for several years later.

This sounds like they brought back this same type of tour. The only difference is they booked it through the excursion desk on the ship. They had been on the SS Oceanic (Home Lines out of NYC). I can still remember going on the ship to Bon Voyage parties before my parents left, thinking how big the ship looked. We actually saw the SS Oceanic in Nassau as the "Big Red Boat" in 1992 while my wife and I were on our first cruise on the original Crown Princess. My parents were with us and it was neat to look down on the ship I had once thought was so big.

  14. Been on the Pride three times and will sail on her a fourth time in August. I love cruising out of Baltimore (drive down from NY - much easier than flying with 4 kids!!!) and am sad to see her go. I love the small-ish layout of the ship, so easy to get around, yet still plenty of space to enjoy! Make sure you're on deck during sailaway when you pass under the bridge... clearance is pretty tight and it really looks like you're not going to make it under... and then everyone claps when you do pass safely, lol.

We also have 4 kids ranging from 14 to 20 who will be sailing with us and we will also be driving down from northern NJ / NY area to Baltimore for our August sailing. We have sailed out of NY/NJ and under the Bridge there but my kids will probably want to see this in Baltimore.

LOVESTOCRUISE19: Thanks for the GREAT pics!!!
