  1. Having been on both ships I'd say Frededom with friends in a heartbeat, if you can afford the additional $500. Freedom is my fav as it was our wedding cruise ship. Also your not missing much by sailing Freedom vs Dream now if you said Breeze that'd be different lol. Also the Freedom's itinerary is much more interesting.

  2. Kim I just want you to know that I had planned to fly in for my Valor cruise on embarkation day, but now due to your review we're coming in a day early to stay at Da House:)! Also yes I remember you from the Breeze Roll Call group. I am still upset that I'm not going on that cruise:(. The Roll Call group seemed like alotta fun. But I have a great group on my Valor Roll Call as well so it all worked out!

  3. Gapearl thanks for the review I just finished reading your last Valor review so I'm excited to read this one as well. I'm so glad you posted from Blessed Cafe. When I was on the Carnival Freedom for my wedding cruise we spent the night prior to our wedding in San Juan. My DH, girlfriends and sorors spent quite a bit of time in Blessed Cafe but I never knew the name of the place, although I have hilarious pictures of us taking group shots there lol. Looking forward to the rest of the review!

Also Heather this is the review....she spent a few days before the cruise in San Juan so she's reviewing that first.

  4. Ok here are my ideas:

    1. I still use Rum runners! (If you have a problem with it move on to #3 ). I've also seen the equivalent of RRs sold in the dollar tree for $1.00!

    2. I always order a DOD when I first board then I use that cup to mix my own drinks. I don't wash it out I just trade it out at a bar each night.
    3. You are allowed to take your camera to the Chef's Table event just don't take pics in the galley.
    4. I used to bring lots of the door hanging racks and organizers etc but really if there are only 2 ppl in your room there is more than enough space on the counter in the bathroom for toiletries.
    5. Tip you room steward on the first day... IMO it makes for a better room steward (we tip again at the end as well and we don't remove our tips).
    6. If your ship offers it use luggage express!

    7. Last tip try something new. I see so many posts about ppl eating chicken tenders, burgers and deli sandwiches the entire cruise. :( I say be bold try something new, a unique food item, an adventurous shore excursion, meet new ppl, relax and have fun!

  5. Okay I would say nail polish remover (I paid a fortune for it on the ship), travel sewing kit, definitely power strip, your fav snacks, granola bars (I sometimes miss the sinple things) and....

Guys close your eyes for the rest of my post:cool:...

Tampons, etc. Let's just say cardboard applicators that had been in the island moist heat for God only knows how long. Just know that we Americans are blessed with such simple things as plastic applicators:eek:!

  6. OP sorry I didn't read any comments but I noticed that in your "math" you never included actually doing anything besides eating... Is that all you do on vacay lol. I would hope to do some activities on vacay as well! And what kinda car are you driving that gas for 1 week on vacay is only $50? And while I wouldn't eat at Mickey Ds while on vacay I do know that lunch for 2 would cost more than $10 prolly closer to $15-17.

  7. Wow I just visited your website and all I can say is I wish I could get married again (to the same hubby:rolleyes: lol) so that you could be my photographer. We got married in St Thomas via the Carnival Freedom and we weren't very excited about the photographs. They weren't bad it just felt like he was very rushed and didn't do anything interesting or out of the box.... But the pics we are are beautiful,, just not exciting like the ones on your site.

Ok I am eagerly awaiting the rest of your review. Quick question what was the weather like for you? I am not a cold weather kinda person and I see that it's in the 70s in most of the ports this week. I wish it would be in the 80s.... Were you guys ever cold?

  8. Thanks for the advice I will definitely check everything out. I don't have spa room but am considering the pass. Do you know if they have one for just a couple days instead of every day? Also I see there is a couple rate but I know my dh and gdad will not be interested but my gma and I may be. Will we be able to sign up for the couple rate if we're in separate rooms:confused: (why I think you'd know the answer to this question is beyond me... wishful thinking I guess:rolleyes:).

  9. I think I will email Steve at Tropicante. We have two expensive excursion already booked and I really didn't want to do that in Costa Maya as well. It seems like Tropicante is a better fit for us as my parents don't drink and we only have a short amount of time on the island so my hubby and I will not be drinking more than one drink a piece. However we will have lunch there and hang out. Sounds like the perfect option for us. Most of our roll call will be at Maya Chan though :(. Thanks for all the great info on both options.

  10. I am not at all a minimalist and I have no desire to be. As long as my luggage isn't heavier than it should be I'm fine. On my upcoming 7 day cruise I started with about 15 pair of shoes  and I have recently got it down to 9 including sneakers and water shoes (going cave tubing in Belize and horseback riding in Roatan). I may be able to pull 2 pair but I have to organize my clothes again and see. If I can't no biggie. I like to look cute everyday not just when I'm home.

OP Do what makes you feel comfy I sure do:D!
