  1. I have a feeling Traveler meant that the CD the OP remembered from a few years ago was Sinan.

Dan Dan is an amazing CD. I would rank up him with Sinan as one of my favorites.

you are correct, sinan was great, his antics and showmanship was outstanding. best CD by far :)

  2. I think that the Cruise Director you are remembering is Sinan and he is not with the company anymore. Cruise Directors are on for 4 months and off for 2. the season or type of cruise does not matter.

your right i loved sinan, he was fabulous, such a loss for ncl

  3. just wondering who the cruise director on the gem is now. we are sailing in may and I can't remember the guy we had 2 years ago but he was fabulous x 10. I know sometimes when the switch from carribean to bahamas they also change directors. just curious

  4. Hi Sue - organizing the M&G is easy peasy...just start collecting names & numbers on your roll call, like this:

    CC Name - Mary & John (2)

Long before your cruise date you should email NCL. I did this for a Gem cruise & the email address was groupeventgem@ncl.com

Not sure what ship you'll be on, but that should give you an idea of where to start...it may likely be same address but your ship name instead of "gem" ;). Anyhow, all they need is a total number about 2 weeks prior to your embarkation. You don't need to collect last names or cabin #'s for the M&G.

You should post the list fairly often so that new people know there is one...and add new people to the list as they request to be added. Don't add everyone on your roll call automatically...as some people don't want to come to the M&G...and that would just artificially inflate your numbers. Good luck & have fun :D.

You can look at my 10/27/2014 Gem roll call (last few pages...) to see what I mean ;).

i also am arranging m/g for january 2015 on gem, i already have a meeting place and time, and as it gets closer you just email with a more accurate number, its super easy and they do a great job. anything besides m/g is up to your roll call to schedule. have fun.............mary

  5. le bistro is by far our favorite, we usually buy the romance package, which strawberrys and champagne on sailaway, dinner in le bistro with a bottle of wine, a 8 x 10, canapes one night and roses in the room. its a nice thing to do for your spouse or whomever and a good deal, but even without it we would dine at Le Bistro first, Cagneys second and modernos is a take it or leave it. But this next sailing we are going to prolly buy the dining package because thats a good deal also we pretty much enjoy all our meals we don't really do buffet except for breakfast or a light lunch have fun:)

  6. Has anyone used Island Marketing Ltd. for an all inclusive beach break? I found this on a search and it looks preety good but can not find any info about. Any help would be great.

    yes details would be fabulous:D

  7. I have not been to Isla Verde but from what I hear, that is probably your best bet. Here is a video of Condado in Jan 2013, pretty rough, but if you want to body surf, this would be good.

thanks it looks rough and cold, hmmm what to do? i need adventure but am recouping from ruptured achilles so walking is out. any suggestions?

  8. we will be in OSJ in january and would like to find a beach close to the cruise terminal. I have been there twice and don't know the beaches and I don't want to travel too far. Would love suggestions, :)

  9. What time are the pools & hot tubs open until? I thought I remember reading someones comment that they would often go use a hot tub late at night, when the deck was pretty much empty - is this allowed, or do they close at a certain time? Also, how late are the bars & lounge open until?

Cruising for the first time in about 42 day and can't wait!!!!

hot tubs are always open, the pool is cleaned and emptied at night, and in case you didn't know the pools are salt water, some of the newer ships have fresh water pools but not the gem. Also with hot tubs sometimes the kids are in the hottubs in evening so thats a hit or miss, but they are pretty bare early in the morning. what a better way to start your day off in the hot tub looking at pretty blue water.

happy first cruise, purchase the future cruise deposit on board for $250 and get instant $100 on board credit, welcome to your new addiction and happy sailing

  10. If you are asking about the spa pass, you buy that in the waiting area while waiting to get on the ship in the NYC port.

really, thats great to know. I don't ever remember seeing them in the terminal before. so excited about getting this pass, doing a 9 day with friends so this will be awesome. happy sailing to you all, i still have sooo long to wait but it will be worth it

  11. I think when I actually book the trip is my first sign of giddy.

Then it relaxes for a while because I tend to book real early.

Next , when I make my final payment, at least for a few days....

    Then........

THE EDOC DANCE! is Pure Giddy.

Then things take a course of their own.

Overdose of CC and seeing who else is on the Roll call and what others are saying on the threads about the the ship, the food, the adventures.... It's Random Giddy depending on what I read.

A little Stress rolls in about a month before. (getting dog/cat sitter lined up, do I have enough spending money, why didn't I go on a diet months ago etc...)

Packing does not make me Giddy by any means. Finally closing the suitcase and having it zipper makes me Giddy because all I have do no is get there.

The Big Giddy for me is when I see the ship....

Wait there is the ship sighting driving down the Henry Hudson from a distance. I get giddy then as I yell...I see a ship!!!

Ok, Big Giddy is when I see the ship up close and I am standing in line waiting for my turn looking at her out the window. I think I have a perpetual smile on my face at the terminal.

And those are my Giddy moments!:D

omg you described my giddiness to perfection, at least i'm not the only one,lol
