We have a cruise booked on the Mardi Gras for February, 2021.  Our final payment due date is in November.  Normally I pay it off sooner.  At this point, I'm holding off until due date, not knowing what the future holds.

This is exactly what we're doing, sailing in Feb 2021 on Mardi Gras also.

Seems like they are moving ahead with cruising soon. Just lets drop off some staff in different parts of the world and limit the inventory so that we don't over book the 5 people we are allowed to have on the ship at a time. I remember just a short time ago people claiming they were cruising in April, then May and now June. Its like roulette at some point the ball will fall in my number!

I will believe it when I see it. They keep talking a big game and people are being brave and strong with the lines - I am not afraid and we need to live our lives...But I am not so sure they are ready to take the liability for what could happen and we know enough but don't know anywhere close to everything about this virus, which is what make non essential vacations not a necessity. They are ready to take more of anyone's money for cruises that wont happen - and that is what they are doing and continue to do.

    Exactly!!!

SeaHunt - you did the research & presented facts. Instagator did likewise on a different thread. Thanks to both of you for that; it's a service to CC members.

It's a good antidote to the baseless guesses and wrong-headed conclusions that are still presented by the small but increasingly strident, sniping group of self-professed "optimists."

CC is of valuable for providing reliable, honest information. So, established from the CDC itself:  CDC No Sail Order is in effect until July 24

The thing is, what happens this summer and fall really isn't up to the White House. Nor up to the CDC, nor the cruise lines, nor passenger demand.

The coronavirus killed dozens of passengers and crew, put others in ICU  and infected many, many hundreds more.

And it doesn't care about Trump/Biden, Pelosi/McConnell. It doesn't do what Fauci says, and it doesn't pay attention to what Hannity & Limbaugh proclaim.

If the virus is still around in July and October (and of course it will be), then cruising will be hideously dangerous - as it was in March.

This isn't about the CDC's warnings or the governors' directions - it's about the undeniable reality of science.

That's why June 2020 is FAR too soon.

I found  great deal for a cruise out of Galveston late June, 2020.  It this too soon amid the Pandemic?  Will Carnival cruise by then?  What are your thoughts?

Just my opinion, but I don't think they will be sailing by June.

  6. Saw this on Yahoo yesterday....

Neither suspension is as long as those implemented by competing cruise companies. Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises have extended sailing suspensions through late June.

Carnival said Monday it would extend its cancellation period through June 27. On Tuesday, Holland America and Princess said it would do so through June 30.

Holland America has also cancelled all of its Alaska journeys for summer 2020  and all of its "Land+Sea Journeys," which consist of an Alaska cruise plus a land-based tour to Denali and the Yukon, according to the line's announcement posted to their blog.

  7. The cruiseaholic in me says yea, go on and book that unbelievable awesome casino deal for May, June or July, but my sound reasoning says just wait, let's see what happens. Kudos to everyone who wants to cruise right now, but the next few months would be a no for me. I do have the Mardi Gras booked for Feb, 2021, but thinking delays may keep me from sailing even then. The whole thing sucks!!!

There is no doubt in my mind these 30 day announcements are business decisions made with financial implications, so I fully understand why every cruise line is making similar decisions. However, these announcements give some people false hope that cruises are returning soon (the latest being May), when there is little to no chance that any cruise line is going to resume operations within the next several months.

    Exactly!!!
