  1. I saw a picture of one from a friend's cruise on the Breeze. It was when they were in port and was directing people to the gangway. It said something like "This way to the Gangway, AKA That little bridge thingy from ship to shore". Something like that anyway. Not sure if it's silly but I kinda found it insulting. I mean, how old are we, about 2? Carnival, we're not stupid and don't appreciate being treated like we are (or being treated like little kids)!!!! :(

that's kind of cute, actually. Many peole have no knowledge of ship-related terms.

  2. Really ????

The OP lives in AUSTRALIA - 16 hour time difference !

Is it really that hard to just say "glad we were able to help".

    We were all "newbie's" once...Geesh.

You don't say? You'll notice that I asked if Carnival has someone local to that area. Since Carnival sails out of Australia it would make sense, yes?

Or did you not realize that they could have a local call center or have someone in Miama work night hours to cover other time zones across the globe? Who said anything about this cruiser being a newbie? To me it sounds like the OP is experienced. By the way..."newbie's" should not have the apostrophe in it - it doesn't make sense based off of your usage of the word in that sentance as it makes it possessive.

Companies that serve an international market generally have call centers in numerous locations and /or call centers that work around the clock.

  3. It is still very rude to shame someone. Who made you parent of the year? Everyone knows if you call you get a different answer from each person you may speak to. Best to get some info before calling and be prepared.

Everyone knows if you post on CC you get a different answer from everyone. The big difference is that nothing posted on CC has any sort of impact on the OP's booking. That can only be changed by Carnival.

  4. Now this is interesting. I decided to call and ask if there were any restrictions on excursions that could be purchased with this credit. I was told three times by this rep that the credit can be used for anything. She said (and I quote) “this particularly OBC is listed as an excursion credit to encourage guests to book the hosted excursions but you can use it for any of your onboard expenses. To purchased pictures, for drinks, our specialty restaurants, etc.” Huh? Doesn’t make much sense to me but she was very confident in her answer. I reiterated that I was referring to the current promotion listed on my booking made on the 15th. She looked it up and said yes, you can use it for anything???

Others have said it cannot be used for on board purchases - only excursions. As usual, 3 different answers from Carnival.

  5. Dang, seriously?! Good grief! Maybe your board name should be "Arushtojudgement". Some people back up their reasons for certain questions with personal info that pertains to said questions. So far, what I've seen her post makes perfect sense.

When you put your personal problems on the internet for the world to see you open yourself up for many different things. I did not get involved in her private matters but saying that I hope she can put her personal issues aside for everyones sake is a legit and fair comment.

  6. No I think other posts were deleted. I only have this one now. I would love to delete other one but do not know how. I had to make another account because all replies went to his email and I do not want him to read replies anymore. This is my personal account other one was shared with him...

Please be nice it has not been easy for me last few days....

A good example of why sharing accounts is bad. If he used that account he will quickly catch on to who you are on this new account since you keep mentioning your past drama with him bailing and have mentioned your 15 year old daughter.

Ordinarily I would skip over the personal issues but you have brought them up many times on a internet forum - which opens the door. We all have personal issues, problems and struggles. I hope for the sake of your daughter, yourself and your fellow passengers you can leave the problems ashore and get on with your vacation.

  7. I have booked a spa room because originally my boyfriend was coming but he just backed out last minute ... :(

I'm taking my 15 year old daughter. Will she be able to use the spa with me?? She's curious... Thank you

We are leaving next Monday. 11/25

Anyone else solo on that cruise??

Did you make a third account? You already posted about this boyfriend of yours with two other accounts. I see your post count is 1 which makes me think this is a third account.

  8. Is purchasing the Cheers Program really worth it on a 4 day cruise out of Galveston. Since Texas has the rule about liquor, it is really a 3 day Cheers Program. I am estimating the cost to be 299 give or take a few dollars. I am not a huge drinker maybe 3 small margaritas I am a light weight, but wine is a different story which I was planning on carrying on a bottle, but I do like the option of trying drinks:D. My boyfriend is a vodka/cranberry guy and could drink his share of 15 or more. I am thinking maybe just buying a bottle of vodka on board.

Can someone provide me some sound advice or thoughts.

Personally I would get it. You are only paying for three days - $172.50/pp. If you have 3 margaritas and 3 wines then it pays for itself. Consider the included sodas as an added bonus. If you think you will break even either way then you might as well get it - just in case you want to drink more.

  9. Even though you buy it on day two, you can retro it back for your drinks on day one if you like. The breakeven point is about 6 drinks a day, depending on what you drink. So, if you will have at least 6 drinks a person per day, then its worth it. Also, as you said you can try different drinks. Maybe you get an after dinner drink like bailey's each night, that you may not spring for, if you were paying for it.. You may drink the more expensive wine with cheers, just things to consider.

You cannot retro it for Galveston sailings.

  10. The economics of cruising have drastically changed over the past 50 years. They have made the running of the cruise and controlling costs into a science.

The purpose of a cruise has changed as well. I'm not sure if the chicken or the egg came first in this case. 50 years ago cruising was a form of transportation and served a utilitarian purpose. Today a cruise ship, in most cases, is a destination of a vacation that just happens to make a few stops so people can go ashore for a few hours.

  11. I said what I said because there is a bit of urgency with the much-desired aft cabins.

In a situation like this it doesn't matter what people on this forum say the OP can do - what matters is what Carnival says. The OP needs to contact Carnival before those cabins go away or the rates change.

This forum is a great resource for cruising information but sometimes people use this forum when they should be contacting Carnival.
