  1. That was my thought Ken, just wondering about the daughters charges if I call her cell phone. She has NO land line.

We are headed to the Ecstasy in Dec. are you joining us ?

If you call a cell phone on the ship from a cabin phone then the cell phone will be charged the same regardless of what phone you called the cell phone from. Even if you have unlimited minutes or free incomin calls - international / cruise ship roaming still applies. If you call a cell phone on land in the U.S. from a cruise ship then the land-based phone won't incur any additional charge just because you are on a ship.

  2. Haven't quite figured out your problem based on what you say.

Who is booked in each cabin by age?

THE OP wants to buy the Cheers! program for all the adults EXCEPT for the 24 year old. Per the CHeers! rules everyone over the age of 21 in a cabin must purchase the program if one of them does. To avoid the 24 year old ahvin to to incur this unwanted cost he/she will need to be put in the teen room. Problem being that Carnival requires someone over the age of 25 in each room, so a swap will need to be made after boarding and before purchasing Cheers!

    Cheers!

  3. hmmm this is a bit confusing and you really probably need to call a pvp or just book it this way and see what Carnival does. Because the 14 year olds (as long as they are related to you) can stay in a cabin by themselves as long as it is near by. The 24 year old can stay wherever they want, *BUT* there is the caveat that if there is someone under 21 in the stateroom they have to be over 25, *BUT* you will be there.

Are you all related by blood?

I'd find a good PVP and see if they can do this.

Unless something has changed the PVP can't sidestep booking rules. Someone over 25 has to be booked in the cabin unless there is a married couple under the age of 25 in that cabin.

  4. Speaking from a medical standpoint - if he is this much of a flight risk he is a) obviously not able to care for himself and, as such, b) should not be on a cruise for his safety.

If I am missing something then please excuse me. But if you are trying to find a way to have GPS tracking of a dementia patient on a ship....that's what the FBI calls "A Clue."

Before anyone flames me please note I said this was coming from a medical standpoint. I know that dementia is a horrible disease process that affects not just the patient but loved ones as well.

After reading the OP again I'm torn. It seems as if he is a flight risk but it also seems as if he is high functioning.

  6. The calls show up based on the satellite relay, which for Carnival, RCI, etc... is Miami.

Question: Do you have a cell phone? Depending on your carrier, it might be cheaper to add an international roaming service for 30 days, then cancel it after you get back. Some carriers offer this service for 30, 60, or 90 days. Then, use your cell phone when your in port and you should save money.

The last time I checked, the rate was $ 3.99-$4.99 per minute:eek: from the state room phone for calls to US and Canada, depending on the time of day.

I second this. The cell phones are typically cheaper.

  7. I have never had a problem while in port finding free Wifi....especially at the big name bars or I buy a cup of coffee at the Starbucks....

Look for the band of cruise ship employees sitting outside with their laptops...that is usually a good sign ;)

That is a good tip for a large portion of cruisers. Personally I rather spend $20-$30 USD extra on an international data and voice plan so I have a bit of freedom and peace of mind without having to hunt down open wifi in port.

  8. You will get charged for data roaming charges if you have a smart phone unless you turn off data roaming / turn of data completely. You should not get charged roaming for your phone unless you make/receive a phone call or text message. Then the text rates apply and roaming rates apply for the call. You can check with your provider about moving to a week long international plan to help with some of the costs you will incur if you need / want to use your phone.

  9. I work with a lady who is in a senior-level management position, in Texas. She received her cursed notification in the mail summoning her the first day of a planned week long vacation. Her house sold just before her vacation so she had to cancel her plans in order to move out on very short notice. Despite this the court would not release her - and she ended up being the jury foreman. What luck!

  10. I was wondering if anyone's thought of doing a B2B cruise with the last Conquest sailing and first Magic sailing from Galveston - if this is even possible.

Someone could also do a B2B for the Ecstasy/Triumph transition!

There's a decent sized gap in between sailings.
