If you’re able to get on board in time, I would highly recommend going to the dining room for lunch on embarkation day. It’s such a nice, relaxing way to start the cruise.

Thanks If possible/available the MDR is my choice

So, on these Royal Class ships, you have do the Hokey Pokey and do down the AFT elevators/stairs to have lunch in the MDR???  Seriously?

I wonder if most ships still have the Souffle on the menu.

That would be the first Souffle of the cruise.

The last one I had, Italian night on Regal, was heavenly!   Although some seem to report that the Souffle they were served was underwhelming?

I've had to do the Hokey Pokey on NCL ships (the older ones) for the aft dinning room. Not a problem 🙂 Thanks

It is not generally enforced.  As long as you are "presentable" there should not be any problems eating in the main dining room.  Torn jeans and shorts would typically not qualify.  I now just wear dockers and a polo or button-down shirt and am fine.  The days of truly formal nights are a thing of the past.

Thank you, taking "dress up" clothes means an extra suite case. DH like jeans and dress pants and polo shirts mainly.

To is the WiFi is one of the most important things on a cruise. We usually take cruises with 5-6 days at sea at a time and really want to stay in touch with the outside world

We figure in case of emergency, the kids know the the phone number to the cruise line 🙂 If we are someplace where we can call home, we will. We cruise mostly with NCL and one of our loyality perks is X amount of wifi minutes. (I don't remember how much). At anyrate, we use very little of the wifi we have had available.

I was on the Emerald Princess for 14 days recently, in an inside cabin that was right behind the aft elevators. (The Emerald and Caribbean are almost identical in size)  I never felt/heard any elevator noise.  Once in the blue moon I'd hear the 'ding' announcing an arriving elevator, but that noise came in through the grill on my door, not through the wall.

What I will add however is that I heard much more engine noise than I've ever noticed previously, particularly as we'd be docking in the morning.  I'd be woken by what I assume was the thrusters.  But didn't stop me nodding off again!

Thanks for the info. I believe I've heard engine noises on every ship I've been on. Kind of get used to that.

What cabin number?  Off the top of my head elevators are usually in lobbies and don't share a wall with cabins.

B712 On the Princess website deck plans, looks like the elevator shares a wall with the cabin. There is a little box that say's "lift".

Appears everything else has been addressed.

Stockperks--if you own 100 Carnival shares, you will get OBC (varies depending on length; 7 day is $100). Stockperks was fairly easy to use--I did not submit any personal info (blacked it out on the screenshots). Mine are in ETrade & I think I had to choose a different firm...but it worked well & was on my account w/in days. Much faster than when we had to email a request.

If you are going to use Wifi on the ship, Princess Plus is the way to go. Wifi is $25/day; Gratuities $18+/day--that means for $17/day you get sodas, specialty coffees, mocktails, cocktails.

DH's aunt & uncle cruised w/ us in 2022 & didn't think it would be worth it--"We just don't drink that much" I talked them into it & they realized it takes very little to get value from it!

Thank you, appreciate the information. Well, along with not drinking miuch, we wouldn't get a wifi package. If we did use wifi, yes I agree it would be worth it, and I'd get my money's worth in speciality coffee. 🙂

  8. Anyone here been on Caribbean Pricess in a cabin which shares a wall with the elevator? Are the elevators noisey or quiet? I have been on ships under the lido and over the theater and really didn't hear much of anything. However I have never shared a wall with the elevator.

    Thanks

  9. Hello, just booked my first princess cruise, and I have a few questions please. Looking at the app on line under personal information, (not seeing this on phone app) Dine my way: What is the difference book/create a dinning plan and make reservations? Under create a dinning plann would I have to do this for each day?

I have booked without the princess plus or premire. What would I use the medallion for in this case?

    What is "casual dinning"

    What is the "blue line"

Can I pick up the Medallion at the port?

Stock perks - is using the app easy? How is this done?

Any information you could give me about the Caribbean Princess would be appreciated.

    Thanks

OK, all of a sudden the app needs me to place an order for the medallions again which is no problem, however it wants to charge me $10.00 for shipping.

I have the Plus package which clearly shows medallion shipping as included.

Do I just complete the order or leave it alone and see what happens? I did not have this issue on previous cruises.

I hope someone answers your question. Never been on Princess. If you don't have the Plus package do you have to pay for the medallion to be shipped?

I didn't say others were suppose to go to the trash. I said that we throw them out.

It is an insult to serve buffet left overs as the "special treats" of the day. Our butler loses $50 in tip every time they leave them behind.

A preferred treat are chocolates served in a box made of chocolate, canapés, and a nice cabernet.

If you told your butler you didn't want them, wouldn't he or she not leave them. The one time DH and I were in a suite we told the bulter what we liked and prefered not to have. She spoiled us rotten, however she didn't bring the snacks we didn't want.

I wish I could justify the cost of a suite....

Friends of ours just got off the Getaway last week.  Balcony cabins, so no Haven experience for them.  They said there were no cookies to be found.  Anywhere.  So they asked (and asked, and asked), and were told by the General Manager, Mario, who was sitting next to Captain Luigi, that it was a corporate decision that there were no cookies available except through room service, (and I would imagine in the Haven.)

Could it just be the Getaway, or could this be one more cutback rolled out fleet wide  to save $$?

    What gives with that?

Oh no, not just the Getaway. Just got off the Jade and no cookies. Typically there would be cookies in the evening on the Buffet. We asked and was told they would be at the Great Outdoors during tea time (around 3). Well there were no cookies there. However there were cookies on the ship. Asked at our back stage tour. The chef told us we could get them via room service, which equals we pay for them. Well we discovered another way. We asked our waiter in the Main Dinning Room. After asking we got a plate of cookies every evening with our desert. Disappointed they were not out and available. We were told "change in menu by corporate"

    Same here (Samsung)

Reinstalled X 2, the second time "opting in" to all cookies etc.

The app doesn't show "My Plans" even when I click on my cruise on the profile.

    The app keeps crashing.

I had not done a system update either on my phone.

I suspect the NCL app underwent an update and now it's buggy.

I have a Samsung also. I reinstalled only once, and the app did crash a few times. Now just getting the home page and it doesn't show my plans. Hopefully will be working correctly tomorrow. Most definately hopes it's working correctly next week when I cruise.

Debnjoe - if you go to menu on the right hand side there is a "My NCL" item and if you go there, there should be an item that says "don't see reservation" and will ask you some questions and look up the reservation.

Well, it's partly on the app. The app does not show the number of day's left or they itinary page. What I see on the app is the home page which say's "let's get your upgraded".  Drop down does not give the option to view plans.

I see everything on the computer.

Quite honestly, the Jade, at 965 feet in length and 15 decks high, is going to stand out far more than the terminal designator on the building. Once you arrive at the port, it should be fairly obvious where the ship will be leaving from.

Yea, leaving on the 16th, and go figure the "terminal" address they have on the edoc's is the parking garage. As someone else had said, terminal 2. Last night I looked up port of Tampa schedule. Also seems to be the terminal used by NCL at Tampa.
