A few months ago the computer system seemed to change to show any bookings as "dining preference not set".

Ours suddenly changed but we received our preferred dining time once onboard.

The MSC ships are fantastic, their computers, not so much.

    Thank for the info

They probably have not assigned a dining room yet; there is a slight stagger to the start times for early dining depending on if they assign you Cala Jondal, Green Wave, or Aegean.

    Thank you

  3. I am going to be going on my first MSC cruise on the Seascape in a couple of months and have not been on a cruise where I had to choose a dining time. Wounderng someone will have an answer for what I am seeing.

When we booked the cruise we choose early dinning and this is reflected on the confirmation. Well, looking at my account on MSC it states "Your dining preference is not set."

Anyone know why the dining time would not be set when the time has already been selected.

On the Meraviglia in April, Hola! was open for lunch on Embarkation day. I found it to be a great way to avoid the crowds in the buffet.

I can hope come Dec, the MDR will be open for lunch on Embarkation day on the Seascape 🙂

At our age we never felt the need for medical insurance. However, with COVID you never know if you will catch it and not be able to go.

FYI - my two cents. At any age, it's a good idea to purchase travel insurance. You never know when you may be in another country and have an accident. Stuff happens, trip and fall, ATV accident, excursion accidents and the list could go on. Better safe than sorry. Your home medical insurance will not cover you if fall and break an arm out of country.

Seating time - dinnertime and always the same no matter the Port.

We have no knowledge of MSC ship dinnertimes. In US “early” can be as early as 5:00 depending on size of ship and number of dining rooms.

Chances of getting “early” - good - check cards on embarkation and speak to maitre’d (sp?) once on board if necessary - usually at one of the dining room entrances about 12/1ish - should specify in info you receive.

    Thank you

  8. Hello, I have a similar question as the original poster. Could I add, what are the chances of getting the seating requested. My family has requested early seating. Saw a you tube video where somone had chosen early however had gotten assiged late dinning. Unfortunately if we had late dinning this would greatly decrease the enjoyment of the cruise.

Buffet, but in our experience it has always been excellent. Make sure you circle the buffet to see everything that is offered. And then head towards the back of the buffet area as few people will have walked that far, most stop at the first seat they see, and it will be more relaxing and a better place to find a seat.

Thank you. I will try to remember to head to the back part. Appreciate the information.

This will be the first time I will be platinum.  I am wondering how I go about booking my 2 free specialty dining meals.  Do I have to wait until I'm on board?

Also, can anyone give info about the ship tour that is included?  Is it worth it?  Thanks

You should be able to make reservations on line. However, it may be better to wait until you are on the ship. If you try to book a restruant with one set price, the system will want to charge you.

Here lately I have not been able to book anything on line. I put something in 'mycart' and when I go to check out, it's  all gone. 🙁

The ship tour, it's pretty good. We've been in the kitchen's, back stage in the theater and some other crew areas. Not all ships do the same "exact" tour.
