  1. We are trying the MDR again tonight but I will be sure to ask to have a table in a quieter location if possible even if we have to wait longer. We are also going to Sushi on Five today for lunch. My first time there am curious to see how it is! And of course I will try the Spicy Mangotini! I’m not driving today! 🤣 (if you order a non alcoholic drink the staff always joke - ‘are you driving?’)
  2. Yes it’s one of our favourites, it’s like having really good comfort food, the steaks and shrimp are excellent (try the Mac n cheese side) flatbreads are also very good but desserts are to die for! Was so torn as the cookie dessert is delicious but there is also the best carrot cake I have ever had! Decisions decisions…. It’s a tough life! 😂
  3. Exactly! And to prove this, tonight’s dinner in MDR was sadly disappointing. Was just my husband and I, we asked for table for two, and said we were happy to wait no rush. They took us to a row of tables right next to the main walkthrough of the dining room, and we were sat on the one closest to the walkway. It was like dining on the M25 (a four lane motorway in the UK) Chaotic! We ordered, chicken soup, ceasar salad, then Salmon, (came with mash) and my husband had Fish and Chips. It was ok. That’s it, just ok. He enjoyed his fish, mine was overdone and dry. We didn’t bother with dessert as I wanted to get out of there. A couple next to us (they may as well put the tables together they are so close anyway) had waited half an hour for coffee to arrive, and gave up and left. I had dessert at the Martini bar and it was delicious! 😆 While I was having dessert my husband went to see if the England v Scotland football was showing anywhere, sadly not as they didn’t have the channel apparently.
  4. Malaga - we were supposed to visit the caves of Nerja but the ship cancelled our tour. So we took a short shuttle bus into town, and explored Malaga centre instead. It was surprisingly beautiful, and very clean. It was Katie’s first time in Spain so lunch at a Tapas bar was in order, and we found a really cute one in a side street. It was perfect.
  5. Here you go, this was medium rare and cut like butter it was just sublime.
  6. Thanks all for replies - helpful! I will try world class bar as I have a mission there anyway… ☺️
  7. Hi, currently on Silhouette, and I asked for a Porn Star Martini (passion fruit vodka etc) at Martini Bar, hoping to get a nice froth layer on top, bar tender says that’s not available on any of their martinis, anyone know why or why if they have any kind of martinis with a nice froth on top please? Thanks 😊
  8. Wow!!! Black Forest martini maybe? I’m definitely asking for this one!! Thanks 😊
  9. I do have one question- does anyone know if you can get ‘foamy’ martini anywhere? I was surprised that the martini bar can’t do me a proper porn star martini - where it has a nice little layer of foam on top..? Seems odd for a martini bar to not be able to do them 😕 I am working my way through the drinks list I had though, the Libra at Sky lounge is lovely - Whiskey with peachy stuff added… yum 😋
  10. Loved your review and especially the photos! Thank you and I hope you enjoyed your holiday.
  11. Murano dinner. Always superb, last night didn’t disappoint. We were sat in the centre near the beautiful flowers with Angnelo as our waiter. He was very funny he told us lots of awful dad jokes but in such an elegant way! Food was perfect, cooked mostly tableside and delicious. We had Diver Scallop in puff pastry with truffle, Lobster bisque, Chateaux Briand and Crepe Balon Rouge (best dessert ever) Even the bread and butter is to die for. Then we saw the show, the theatre gets full half an hour before the show… be early! The Barricade Boys, featuring four young men who have performed in Les Miserables, they are excellent. They did a mix of Motown, Music theatre, and songs from Les Mis. And then we headed up to the Sky Lounge for Silent Disco, it was hilarious fun, everyone singing (badly) and dancing - try it! Today we are just arriving into Malaga, for the afternoon. We are just going to explore on our own as our tour of Nerja caves was unfortunately cancelled. I was a bit disappointed. IMG_3746.mov
  12. Amy I would leave a lot earlier if you can, better to be there early than be stressing about being late. We met a lot of people on this cruise who nearly didn’t make it in time. Even the night before is a good idea.
  13. They have cookies at Al Bacio! FREE And lots of lovely pastries muffins and tarts too… I succumbed to a little lemon tart… 🍋
  14. Hi I am not sure this will help but these are photos from the menu at craft social bar, sorry they are not great! The beers range from 10$ up to 20$ if it’s a Belgian beer. The Newcastle Ale is draught.
  15. I think the whole ship has been ‘revolutionised’ its been a very long time since we’ve been on her too, was 2012 last time… She looks in great shape all over. Am actually pinching myself that we are here today, it’s been an incredibly difficult time for us at home with my husbands health yet here we are, on a beautiful ship, enjoying amazing weather good food and great company. I’m happy 😊
  16. Last nights dinner in Tuscan - the restaurant was not full at all and we got a great table by the window and views of the wake as sun was setting. The waiting staff were really great and were really helpful with menu choices. Mohammed served us he had a great smile. We started with a sharer antipasti board, calamari, and crab cakes. And Parmesan breadsticks! These are to die for! I ate far too many. Then we had Filet Mignon, Rigatoni Alfredo with lobster, (tiny pieces) and for dessert, Strawberry shortcake zabligione. Delicious. We got a dining package at a great price when a sale was on so our specialty meals average £26 each, which isn’t too bad. After dinner we saw the show, LIFE, it was good with acrobatics and singing/dancing. Some of the singing was a little shouty off key but the acrobatics was excellent. Theatre was full. Then we went to the Abba singalong followed by 70’s disco, this was eye opening! Everyone went crazy!! It was held at the Foyer Deck 3/4, and everyone joined in dancing in the lifts too, so much fun. There will be some sore heads and feet this morning…! 😂 We got back to our cabin and we had a towel animal, and a little flower 🌹 nice touches. I am 51 still get excited by a towel frog! 17. Hi Hcat, yes 9237 has bed by bath, and lovely big balcony. Great cabin, we have been offered canapés in the afternoon and got a bottle of bubbly, tote bag, and nice footstools on balcony. We mostly chose for location. Yes, it’s the New York cheesecake I believe it’s in the always available. Yes Craft Social is open to all, drinks are included in drink packages if you have one, but food is extra charge. I will try post menu of the beer offerings later. I was waiting to check with my son about draught beer as I’m not a beer drinker. 😊
  18. First sea day. It’s a beautiful calm day in the Bay of Biscay! Yay! Am so relieved. We had breakfast at the ocean view buffet, we love the high top chairs just as you go in. It was busy busy busy. However we notice everywhere staff are offering help and drink orders etc, also a lot of upselling on dining and spa services etc. After breakfast we went to coffee at Al Bacio, again, busy but staff are attentive and on the ball which is great. We noticed a sign for coffee to go at the Gelato bar, I haven’t seen that before. No cookies to be seen though! There is a new sports pub beer lounge called the Craft Social, looks good if you like sport and beer! They offer paid for snacks too. Am off to hide ducks…
  19. Malaga, Cagliari, Civitavecchia, La Spezia, Marseilles, Cadiz. Lots of sea days. So far the sea is calm, and really translucent, hoping it stays that way!
  20. So, our first dinner! We went at 6:30 - yes, early (we have been up since 5am) We are on select dining, we had a warm welcome and a nice table near to the windows at the back of the dining room on Deck 4. Our Wait staff were Ronny, Tony and sommelier is Tapas. Really great guys and very attentive. We ordered the Wild mushroom soup, and Roasted beets with feta to start - all were excellent and just as we remember from past cruises. Especially love the bread basket (yay it’s still free! 😂) and the whipped butter selections. Then we had Prime rib of beef, which is fantastic, so tender, and cooked just pink. Some of us had it with mash, which was actually not bad mash….Phew! I opted for buttered potatoes, they were ok, and then randomly the waiter brought a baked potato…! Did he read my mind??! So yes, they do still have baked potatoes on this ship! All in all a delicious dinner with very good service.
  21. Just a quick photo of our cabin, 9239 mid ship concierge. We missed the concierge embarkation lunch but it was offered until 1pm. our cabin is directly next to our sons, and the steward very kindly opened the balconies up so we have one big shared area between us.
  22. We are onboard! Horrendous journey but embarkation was fast and smooth, our cabins were spotless and we headed straight to the Martini bar for a much needed refreshment! After that we have just stopped by the Mast Grill for a burger, they were good, not as juicy as they used to be but nevertheless very tasty. All crew have been welcoming, and offering to help us with dining or drink packages. We had no issues booking our speciality dining. So far, so good!
