  1. I know what you mean - I am used to it for work travel but not out of my own pocket! LOL I didn't go anywhere walking distance to the hotel but on the last night to the liquor store. We didn't find anything we'd want to try and looking up the places on google didn't yield great results. Hence why we went into OSJ a lot. I found the Caribe, since we checked in on a Sunday, to be a lot busier, dirtier and louder than the Conrad. The Conrad also had a Casino. While the Caribe had more dinner options (although super pricey and not terribly good), we preferred the property at the Conrad. My wife went to the Apple store to upgrade the Mac and the pics are on there (easier to lug it on vacation with us than my heavier PC laptop).

I can post more on both hotels tonight.

  2. Yes I do! However, most are on my other computer. I will post them in a little while. The Conrad was really nice. We stayed at the Hilton Caribe at the end of the trip and we preferred the Conrad. Be prepared though to pay a lot for taxis to OSJ or pay a ton for food on property.

Thanks! There's no rush. We have until December :D

I'm always prepared to pay a lot for food at any major hotel

How about the area around the hotel? I've heard that there are a lot of restaurants and bars. Did you try any?

Also, thanks for the note on the Caribe Hilton. That's our other choice. I have a bunch of Hilton points so we're going to stay at a Hilton property.

  3. He also warned me about a guy that is on the trolley, and he's licking his phone and talking to himself

Maybe he spilled something on it?

I fly quite a bit on business and about every third trip I am approached by a man when I am waiting outside fo the bag claim area waiting for my ride. He tells a story about losing all of his money and not having enough for a bus ride to Milwaukee or Detroit or whatever. I usually tell him "The same thing happened to me! I'm lucky to have a ride home!" :)

    It's not just Puerto Rico.

  4. Bob,

You will absolutely love the OV cabin you chose. The window is huge and seems like a veranda view, except that you can't walk through it!! The cabin is practically brand new. It's very spacious for an OV. We had the beds together and there was a small sofa between the bed and the window, opposite the desk. Plenty of room for storage. We actually thought we were the only ones in that section, as there was absolutely no noise from anywhere. The location is perfect. Down the hall from guest services on Deck 3, but separated well. The conference room and Normandie Restaurant are on the same side, but you will not hear anything from them. All in all, I think it's the best OV you can get! By the way, we had some high waves, and we hardly felt a thing! Enjoy!!

Thanks for the report! We're in 3112 in December.

Did you take any pictures of the cabin or that part of the ship?

  5. We will be in Cove cabin 2370 on the Dream in a couple of weeks and we're eagerly looking forward to it.:) It is below the galley I believe (all others were taken when we booked). I understand it may be noisy - but will it be unbearable? Anyone stay in Cove 2370? Too late to change - just curious. Never had trouble going to sleep on a ship before - don't expect to this time.

    Somebody's ready........:p

    Thx!

We had 2368 on the Breeze in December and had no problems with noise. There was one night (I think the night before Nassau) where the ship hit a large wave and listed sharply to one side and I heard a cart roll across the floor above and hit the wall, but the sudden movement of the ship almost rolled us out of bed anyway, so the noise didn't wake us :D

  6. Can anyone tell me how the Chef's Table was? And what was on the menu? Thanks.

The menu is posted here somewhere. I don't remember a lot of it.

On our sailing they did the chef's table on at least three nights. It all depends on how many people sign up. We received a call from the Steak House manager with the day that we were scheduled and asking us to call to confirm.

  7. They held a door prize drawing. I didn't see ANY CC items.(Those must have been for the "official" folks....sigh). They did however, give away a bottle of champagne, and the ever coveted "ship on a stick"

It ended up that there was no official CC group cruise for this sailing since the minimum number of cabins weren't sold through the group TA. CC didn't provide anything for the cocktail party. The champagne and SOS were provided by John Heald because Bevie had contacted him and asked for them.

  8. There's a set of double doors to enter the area by Stateroom 3116. and back aft of that section by Stateroom 3140 that leads to the aft stairs/elevator.

Yup, that's it. As you can see, makes 3112 a little larger than the others. I'm just wondering if 3144 would be the same?

As you can see, it's right next to the Ladies Room, but I checked it out and it is well sectioned off -- didn't hear one flush the entire week. :)

    Great! Thanks!

I've updated my picture to show the double door. All locations are approximate :D

  9. It's not shown in this photo. If you can envision the line that separates 3112 and 3114 extended out into the passageway, that's where the entrance door is located

One more question if you don't mind :D

Is there a door in the hallway that heads out towards the Grand Foyer? I assumed that it would be at the end of the hallway but it sounds like the door to 3112 is at the end of the hallway.

    Thanks again!

  10. It's not shown in this photo. If you can envision the line that separates 3112 and 3114 extended out into the passageway, that's where the entrance door is located, and the bathroom is straight ahead as you enter the stateroom. You turn to your right to walk into the cabin or go straight ahead into the bathroom. The bed is on the left-hand wall with an overstuffed chair in the corner near the window. The desk is across from the chair on the right side near the window.

As you walk in the door, immediately to your left is a little space where we could store a couple of beach chairs, a suitcase, and the stateroom golf umbrella was located. The TV/Refrig was to the immediate right as you entered into the stateroom with the closets directly across from the TV.

I hope this helps and is not confusing.

Thanks! It makes perfect sense. I got it now :)

BTW, the picture must be of Infinity as Summit does not have fold out sofa beds as indicated by the little black squares -- Infinity does.

Good point... I took the screen capture from the cruisedeckplans web site for the Summit. I wonder if they just used the same images for both ships.

Here is the same part of deck 3 from the Carnival web site...

  11. Wish I'd known the starboard OV cabins have a larger window before we booked one on the port side. Since it's a Canada/New England cruise in October, we're not springing for a verandah, but would like to get the most light possible. Still, I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves.

    Kathy

It's not all of the starboard side OV cabins, Kathy, just the ones in the 3112-3144 range. They were built in an area that had the larger windows from the ship configuration prior to the Soltization.

Here's that area on the Constellation, which has not been Solitcized...

and here is the same area on the Summit...

We have 3112 booked on the Summit in December.

Wine-O, do you have any pictures of 3112? I'm interested in your comments on the door orientation.
