  1. Hi Dan! Tyrone just emailed me that he did get in touch with you and yiu booked with him. Have fun and give him my regards. If I ever get back to Barbados I'm definitely hooking up with him again.

    Steve

Yep, just got his email and we are good to go. He said Steve alerted him to my email. Was that you??
  2. Apologies if I offended anyone at all. I was simply amused that the poster seemed not considered the possibility that his/her destination country might just want to have see his passport.

We can, by the way laugh at ourselves and our idiosyncrasies and frequently do. In fact laughing at our 'Britishness' is one of our main sources of humour.

I repeat, I am really sorry if I offended. It was not intended.

Don't apologize too profusely. Most Americans are not so easily offended.

  3. We have been to almost every port in the Caribbean and have never had to show anything else besides the cruise ship ID to get back on board. We do carry an expired drivers license just in case but have NEVER had to show it.

I also carry a copy of my passport as it is just one piece of paper in my wallet.

  4. I have stamps in my newest passport from Frankfurt, Canada, US Customs, Geneva, dublin, another Canada, another US Customs, another Canada, Australia, Amsterdam, 2 more Australia, 2more US Customs, 2 from Thailand, 2 From Singapore, Southampton, Cobh Ireland, Vietnam, Acapulco (Guerrero), and 2 from St. Petersburg (Cahkt Hetep6ypr)

I would say that many are still stamping.

You definitely travel a lot! Thailand and Singapore? I wish I could go back there sometime.

  5. I you are former military (or current:D) try USAA. Very easy, the rep will walk you through the process. The first 10 or so trades are FREE and the rep even offered to send the statement to Princess for me.

    Great service.

OOPs! Just saw you are in the UK. Too bad, no USAA for you.

Wow, I did not know that about USAA and I am a member! Thank you.

  6. Something wrong with this. Annual statements totally unacceptable. Don't even tell me why you want to do business with a firm that does that.
You should be able to go online with your broker and see what your portfolio contains and then print out a copy for Princess.
  7. Sorry if this is a dumb question but how "current" does a current stock statement need to be? We are looking at purchasing the shares but it seems we will only be provided with an annual statement
Use your brokers statement or record of purchase from the broker.
  8. We faxed in the shareholder request today, seeing this thread had me check my on board credits, voila- it is there!

    Impressed!

    Bernadette

I sent the fax in a couple of weeks and and it was on my account in about 15 minutes! I couldn't believe it.

  9. Princess just needs to change the plan to have the ship always go out as a late departure.. and return late as well.. then no one will be upset that they didn't get to leave on time.

A better way to avoid the frustration is just don't go out of Houston. That is my future strategy.

  10. I drove to the port, so I paid for toll roads, one night in a hotel, dinner at a local restaurant, port parking, and filled up my car with gas. It's not a huge amount but multiply that by 1,000's of passengers per year and it adds up.

I also drove to the port. I paid no tolls, did not stay at any hotels, did not eat at any restaurants, did noy buy any gas and I got free parking at the port for 7 days. Thank you Harris County taxpayers!

  11. The Houston Ship Channel leads to the Port of Houston which is the nation's largest port based on volume of cargo.

Not just the CB, but all ships were held up due to fog, etc. on Saturday.

I doubt the largest port in the nation (based on volume of cargo) is doomed.

Just doomed for big cruise ships.

  12. The cruises out of Texas are some of the friendliest you can do. Much different and more laid back than Miami. We didn't meet a stranger and some were not from Texas. There were a lot on board from Texas who were very friendly.

Galveston took a bit to get going too. A new port is always a challenge until they figure out logistics.

A very long narrow channel and frequent fog and any wind is going to make the Captain think twice about that channel. I think this port is doomed. I know it is for me, never again. When the word gets out about thes delays on 50% of their cruises they will have to figure something else out. True they can't help the weather but you can look at past trends and make decisions from that information.

  13. I will tack this on here instead of starting another thread. Seems a lot of negative reviews about this Texas cruise. Don't think it is just Bayport since I have also seen the same comments about Galveston. My question: Is there a better time of year to cruise from Bayport? Right now I see talk of fog, wind, missing ports. For us the ports on this cruise are pretty much all new so I would like to leave from Texas instead of flying to Florida.

    Thanks

    Joe

Galveston does not have a 50% failure rate which is what Houston is close to.

  14. I didn't count it as anything other then a semi-sea day not unlike Princess Cays since we did not have much of any time to research the excursions when they were offered. I was definitely not a fan of the wall to wall vendors right outside the pier trying to get us to buy counterfit gear. I'm fairly certain not a single NFL team was paid any licensing for all the stuff they had for sale. :)

We ended up heading back to the ship soon after enduring 45 minutes of "no gracias" after "no gracias".

Costa Maya would definitely not be a port I would rush to get back to see anytime soon.

You should have gone to the little town. Nice beach, cold beer and snacks served all along the the walkway.
