  1. Well, I don't think that's right. If we choose not to upgrade (I know DH won't ... he doesn't drink/like martinis), we have to re-iterate EVERY TIME we order a drink that it's covered under the classic package.?:(

On our recent British Isles cruise, I never said I had the classic pkg when I ordered my rum/coke, and had zero extra charges! The few times I did order something off the premium side....then I had to sign for it......

  2. if u goto Guest services, they will confirm everything. We too were told the non-refundable OBC was used first. Its abbreviations on the "bill" is OBN. The refundable OBC, that will go back on ur credit card, such as the $$ from ur travel agent is abbreviated OBR. Thats how it played out for us recently. Money was back on our credit card a few days later after the cruise.

  3. I would go for the larger balcony. We really don't care as much for Blu on Reflection as compared to Blu on other ships.

inlaws live in Middleton RI......Yes, there used to be a lo tof CC reports that stated BLU on Reception was super busy, as of the added suites......but has that changed now with suites having Luminea??

  4. Thx for the feedback.

I'm still not sure but we will probably keep the larger balcony because we don't care about Blu. We do, however, buy a spa pass for the week. But, we also have a $100 OBC that we'd lose, I think. ??

Does any one know if that sofa in the AQ room is convertible?

ours on the silhouette wasn't...as there is a max of 2 per cabin in Aqua...

  5. We are staging / packing for our 9 night Pacific Coastal on Infinity. Will we be "Sent To The Buffet" for showing up in a nice pair of slacks, dress shirt, tie and sport coat in the MDR on the two formal nights? It is a summer warmer climate cruise after all... thoughts? We own Tuxes, but hate taking all the extras needed to wear them. (Special shoes, suspenders, bow tie, cummerbund, studs, cuff links...and the list goes on).

    Pat (& Paul)

No you will be fine! on our British Isle cruise, yes there were tuxes, but they were in the minority....those that did dress up were in suits.....1 fellow in BLU had on this very bright gold jacket...very unique, lol

  6. its funny..on CC, BLU is hit or miss.....we love BLU and only reason we sail Celebrity is because of BLU.....1 has to keep in mind, only a small % of cruisers are here on CC......People that we have chatted with on the boat (again a very small %) enjoy BLU.....enjoy the service....smaller venue..many tables for 2 and many bigger tables for groups as well....anytime dining..... Food is a personal thing...1 person can love the item...the other hate it! 1 still has the option of going to the MDR (talk to the maitre d) We have only sailed Celebrity twice, and both times on the Silhouette and both times in Aqua and enjoyed BLU.......Nothign super special about Aqua cabins....they have the fancier extra nozzles, which I never use......We sail Aqua soley for BLU, but that is us,lol

  7. Thanks for your feedback, flames9 -- I'm glad to hear most of the people you talked to really enjoyed Aqua class, and that you didn't have any issues with the food. I'm fairly easy to please (as long as there are vegetarian options), some I'm pretty optimistic that we'll enjoy Aqua class. :)

I'm not a picky eater, and I'm not a person that takes to many chances when it comes to trying new food, lol Thus, there was always the steak option, lol And if you don't like something, one can send it back and try something else. Or mix and match! 1 just has to ASK...they truly do try to make you happy

  8. There is another CC member who is also a vegetarian and eats in Blu. I remember her mentioning a separate vegetarian menu in Blu but you may have to ask for it. If you don't get a reply here you may want to do a search or start a thread with the question. Personally I find the search engine useless and often brings up old information but maybe it just me.

    Yep, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2254126&page=2

  9. Thanks for the feedback on the tea request.

(Incidentally, my first cruise on Celeb will be in one of those "overhang" AQ staterooms, at least if I did my research right (in the 1650s range on Eclipse). "Roasting in the sun" is the exact phrasing I use ... For the thing I want to avoid.)

I was in 1650 on the Silhoutte--the last AQ room, then it went Concierge....I was fine with the overhang, sat outside and read my book...only negative part was the idiots on deck 12, that thought it was ok to spit!

  10. I hear you...but even the somewhat clueless "Concierge" seemed to know that it was doable, it was just that she was ambiguous on the amount...but she still said that we could exchange it and just told us to take the bottle to the restaurant. I could possibly see one sommelier improvising...but not the guest services operator...but who knows...maybe this policy has been formalized...?

1 of this things that seems to vary from ship to ship.....people that know that it can be done--are from cruise critic, lol

  11. Just bring your bottle to the restaurant and give it to the sommelier...didn't take any explaining...Elvis was enthusiastic and supportive (yes, that the name of the very cheery sommelier in Blu on the Summit).

I tried to inquire from the "Concierge" in advance to no avail...she seemed to think it was possible but had no idea abt the value. Now we know, it's worth $35 in credit towards any different bottle of wine or champagne on the wine list.

Only "condition" was that I couldn't get a 20% discount on the replacement bottle based on my premium drink package...still a net benefit.

It has been reported on here that it doesnt always work..or 1 has to go up the chain of command to get the credit. On our recent British Isles cruise on the Silhoutte (Aug 8-22) we had a bottle of White wine..just left it for our attendants.

  12. Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for starting this thread and to the rest of the posters who have contributed their thoughts/experiences. We've been wanting to try Aqua class, but couldn't justify the higher cost. (We've sailed with Celebrity twice so far, both times in Veranda cabins.) A few months ago, we booked a 5-night cruise on the Constellation for December, and we decided to try Concierge class since it didn't cost much more than Veranda when we initially booked. But my hubby happened to check online today and saw there was a price drop - with Aqua class now costing only $20 more per person than what we had originally paid for Concierge. I have no idea if they would have given any type of credit for our existing reservation, but I asked if we could upgrade to Aqua for the $20pp difference...and they let us do it!

I'm looking forward to experiencing Aqua class and Blu, and I appreciate the feedback here which has helped to set our expectations. Thanks again!

1 has to keep in mind, very few cruisers are on Cruise Critic.....When we have sailed Aqua class twice, and talk with others (which is not a lot as we enjoy each others company) most really enjoy it! No stress about sitting with others (unless u want to), eat when u want to eat (you do find that many eat at the same time each night and like to sit in the same general area---especially if they like the wait staff) We have no issues with the food, not near as good as my moms or grandmothers, but have yet to find any place that lives up to that, lol

  13. We cruise Aqua for Blu. Almost everything else in the Aqua features is pretty much "fluff." My DW dislikes breakfast in Blu, likes the breakfast buffets. I like Blu for all the meals - it is quieter, more relaxed, usually better service than elsewhere. We are just getting tired of the Blu menu that has not changed in years!

great if u have a short memory like myself, lol or just eat steak, lol

  14. I think the op pretty much sums up how I feel about most of the so called benefits, upgraded this and that, which are probably of little real value to most people if they are being honest. Blue is the obvious benefit, it does get good reviews but with a very sizeable price mark up on the average cruise you could purchase a good few meals in a specialist restaurant with plenty left over. Having said all that Aqua class is proving to be very popular and even looking past the cruise hype many are obviously trying it and returning to it again, so what do I know.

we dont cruise a lot...only cruise Aqua when we do....yes just for BLU, its not perfect, but were quite happy with it.

  15. each their own..we are not big cruisers..I'm probably 1 of the few I would be fine if I never went on another cruise in my life, lol Only reason We book Aqua class is for BLU. Service and speed of service was excellent on the Silhouette(twice, Med and British Isles), we always ate early, so maybe that's why.

But yes much of it is "fluff" But we like BLU and being only a couple, no need for a suite
