  1. QUESTION FOR MARYANN2 FROM VANCOUVER: Who do I send an email to at RCI for a request to have the bottles of water removed from the cabin? I wonder how effective having a cash account is vs. registering a credit card? This scam is irritating and making me paranoid!

    Thanks everyone for any information.

    Noreen.

  2. Have been reading about those post-cruise mini-bar charges and some have said they will use a cash account instead.

Could someone explain how this works, please? How much $ do you "deposit" and do you withdraw it on the last night?

Doesn't RCI know your credit card # if you used it to pay for the cruise?

And lastly, if one is caught in this scam, is it even worth it to call RCI or just go thru your credit card company?

Thanks very much for any information!

    Noreen.

  3. Disclaimer: Sounds like an odd question, even to me (LOL!), but just to clarify/double check/wonder...any issue with bringing mouthwash and after shave in plastic bottles that are partially filled? We are boarding the Legend from home (Honolulu) and instead of buying new stuff, thought we would just bring what we are already using (esp. since no air flight involved). Just want to be prepared. thanks for any info!

  4. Looking for recent information about the car rental companies at Pier 91 in Seattle. Do the kiosks at the pier shuttle you to a downtown location? If not, what should be the approximate cost for a taxi to 4th Avenue, for example?

Any preference of the three car rentals at the pier? What has your experience been like?

We will be disembarking on a Friday, July 7th.

    Thank you for any help!

  5. Have been following the threads where wait times were minimal to "very long". Our flight to Hawaii will be on a Saturday, July 30th, at 9:00am. Does a weekend day make any difference? Just looking for any current info. or advice (and then hope for the best!)

    Thanks for any help..

    Noreen.

  6. "Oh, wow, laulau". What a terrific review, Debbie! Enjoyed your enthusiasm, humor and fabulous pictures. Glad to hear you guys had such a good time here that you are returning. Yay!

So, what did your backwards shaka look like anyway? Wonder what the folks in Hana thought? Just curious and ready to laugh along with you.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a fantastic review, for future visitors AND locals to enjoy.

    Noreen.

  7. Donna,

You win, hands down, absolutely the best writing style. Are you SURE you're not a travel writer? LOL!

Penguins at the Hilton! My favorite is Betty (she has a blue band). They are a cute bunch.

That picture of you in the kayak with Diamond Head in the background is the perfect ending to your vacation.

Weird TSA types. Lauhala fish and angels? Rather silly to confiscate that. Another "uniform syndrome" individual. hahaha!

Anyways, so very glad you enjoyed your time here. But then, I get the impression you guys enjoy yourselves everywhere, as it should be.

    Aloha and take care,

    Noreen.

  8. Oh, wow, laulau....so THAT's what the RTH looks like. :D I have never been to the end of Hana. Too dizzy-ing for me.

Speaking of laulau, good for all of you for trying Hawaiian food. So the wallpaper paste didn't go over too well, huh? LOL! Poi is supposed to be very nutritional. Well, it's the first baby food we use here. Followed by tofu. Yum-o!

You have collected such wonderful picture memories, runner-friend. Thanks for sharing.

    Aloha,

    Noreen.

  9. Wow, a triathlete. Impressive!

DH and I are "just" senior runners, Jeff Galloway type. Too bad I'm afraid of the water and can't ride a bike. LOL!!!

We don't make it to the neighbor islands too often (expensive!),but once we were in Kona on a cruise and it was the day before Ironman. Oh, it was so exciting. We couldn't resist jogging on that sidewalk area near the pier that's part of the course. *dreaming*

Your review is excellent. Have you done travel writing? Good way to pay for your trips. :D

    Stay well and keep running.

    Aloha,

    Noreen.

  10. Love your review so far. Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Did you know John Bingham does an Alaska cruise? It was pretty good w/running events in every port (and penguin style too for those who like that)

Gotta agree with you on the shave ice with beans. I don't even like the ice cream so much. Long way to drive (Hawaii standards, of course. LOL!), but quite a treat, yes?

    Aloha,

    Noreen.

  11. Wow! I just realized you're from Honolulu. It must be rather weird reading about your home from the eyes of someone with such a limited experience of it.

Thank you for sharing your islands with us.

    TreasureQuest,

It was an absolute pleasure and honor to read of your experiences. It only made me appreciate this place even more.

So, you ate at Kenny's-at-the-Kam-Shopping-Center-in-Hawaii; that's how their advertising jingle goes. You gave me yet another biiig smile.

And you described the airport to the nth-degree. Cement upon cement and concrete and yep, hot-hot-hot. Not so inviting for departures. Maybe they made it that way so you'd be happy to get home. ROFL!!!!!

Anyway, glad to hear you guys got home safely. You must do more writing. You're good!

    Aloha,

    Noreen

  12. TreasureQuest,

Your writing gives me chicken skin! What a wonderful and priceless gift to your DD. No matter how many times she re-reads this journal, I'm sure she will find something new to smile about.

Nothing in life is perfect, but you sure know how to execute the perfect trip. Thanks for sharing so many details for future visitors and for reminding others of what a great place Hawaii is.

All I can close with is "ho wow laulau". :D

    Aloha,

    Noreen.
