  1. We have booked an Hop-on Hop off bus that meets at the National Theatre in Olso. We cannot do a lot of walking to meet the bus. I am hoping someone can give me an idea on how far away the National Theatre & Ibsen Museaum is from the Olso cruise terminal? And if it is a far walk, will taxis be available or do we need to arrange some other type of transportation?

We will be cruising on the HAL Nieuw Statendam and our stop in Olso is on June 6th.

    Thank you

Can  you quote  the route the dates and what you paid?

We are flying PHX to AMS round trip Delta going and KLM coming back all in First or Business class under 6k for 3 of us leaving in May.

When we were first checking prices, the prices booking through different airlines direct was around 14k.

I have never booked flights through a cruise line, so when I saw the price, I felt like something was wrong or a scam Lol. I had to come on here to see what people were saying because I thought it was too good to be true.

After we purchased our tickets through Flight East, the prices had jumped over 14k (sorry I don't remember something around 20K).

We found the First and Business class was about $1,500 more (with Flight Ease) than when booking directly with airlines in economy.

I do not remember if prices were better with Flight Ease in economy.

I was able to get Business Class air to and from Amsterdam for half what the airline wanted.  It pays to at least check it out.  And, the days of taking the schedule they hand you are over.  I was able to let Flight Ease know what my parameters were and they followed it.  Generally, my PCC sends me some samples and gets my input.  I have also told her about schedules I have found and she's been able to book them.

We also got Business class air for half of what the airline wanted. And it was nice that we didn't have to pay until after final payment.

Your welcome! I post this photo to only show how dressed up we will ever be regardless of venue or gala nights for dinner on warm weather cruises on HAL and recent CO/Specialty/MDR or Lido. Beach vendor bought travel jewelry that wont break my heart if it blows apart at dinner or I lose it 🙂 (wedding rings/watches either left at home or in the safe when onshore)  We were comfortable right in the middle of the gorgeous dresses, suits/ties carefully planned and packed by some and also with the folks that literally chose not to dress at all. Darker colors/sleeves for me and only a dinner jacket for hubs when in cooler sailing.  Hope this helps as I struggled mightily and worried too about us trying to find the fit between being under dressed and over packed.

Thank you! Very nice looking couple you two are.

I would say about the same as other nights (smart casual) with an edge going a bit dressier to fully formal and decked out on the gala nights. Probably the same ratio of attire you would see in the MDR or a specialty for a gala night.

Thank you. I wouldn't want to show up under dressed.

I pre-request a fan before each cruise from HAL's Ships Services.....800-541-1576....on one cruise they did run out of them....

Thank you so much for sharing this. I just called and asked for one on my upcoming cruise.

Yes. They told me it was because I changed airport codes. Apparently they know about this issue but have yet to resolve it. I hope it only happens if you change airport codes but to me it's not worth risking your flights

WOW. I am so sorry to hear this has happened to you and that now you are stressed about your connecting flights. I hope you have no problems and have an amazing trip.

Apparently when I did a price check since I changed the airport code I effectively canceled my flights. WHAT?!!!

Did they tell you that it was because you changed the airport code? The reason I ask is because we were checking prices often and our flights were not canceled, but we did not change airport codes.

The impact on the economy should take last place here, destroying a pristine environment like Glacier Bay with dirty water should be everyone's main concern..

I absolutely agree with you. For me the best part of an Alaska cruise is seeing all the wild life from the ship. If they continue to destroy and pollute the waters, there will be little reason for some people to visit and that will have an impact on the economy.

I have my first cruise booked on HAL for June. I have never cruised on Carnival and 1 time on Princess. But after reading this article I am truly disturbed by what I read. I have a cruised booked in 2020 on HAL. My family and I are going to be canceling that cruise. If we hadn't already made our final payment, we would be canceling the June cruise. Other's can disagree with me and that is ok as well. But I think if you can't play by the rules THAT YOU WERE WARNED ABOUT, then you shouldn't get to play the game. So I think they should be banned and somebody should be in jail.

I know I am going to get flamed for this, but I can handle it. 🔥

OMG!  You misunderstood my post!.   No harm no foul it happens.

I was actually supporting the OP opening a new thread,  my response was to an entirely different person.

When you go back and re-read it you will see what I mean.👍

Sorry that I misread what you said. I guess I am just getting tired of all the people that tell someone to search before posting. So again I am sorry.

Yes, but that was not the problem.  I also booked through Flight Ease, but could not use the services of that office to change any flights or see if there were other flights available.  I had to take what was shown on the computer.  As a result I booked the MIA - MIA segment with Flight Ease, and will book the TPA - MIA -TPA segment directly with AA, using miles.  The other problem with using a TA is not being able to see the confirmation on Manage My Booking.  You have to get it from the TA or the airline.

    Sorry I guess i misunderstood

Ugh, the sarcasm from most of you on these boards is ridiculous anymore! I’ve read the other post, not all 43 pages because it’s gone off topic and in so many tangents it doesn’t really answer my question. A few sailings prior to February say they’ve experienced this MDR surcharge. There has been no identification if it was on a Specialty dining cruise or normal HAL sailing.   I was hoping for something more current and detailed not people’s opinions on obesity or dining room manners/attire but you all rather be arrogant and nasty in your responses.

Cruisegoer sorry I do not have the answer for you, but I wanted you to know that I am glad you started a new post. Anyone that does not like it, DOES NOT HAVE TO OPEN IT!

I too am tired of all the arrogant and nasty responses people put on here. I think because they are HIDING behind a computer, they think they can speak (or type) whatever they want. And then people wonder why fewer people come to this site.

I hope someone can give you the answer you are looking for 😃
