  1. We want to rent a car coming straight off our cruise on the Caribbean Princess from a rental place near the terminal we will be docked at, then if possible return it to the airport when we go to catch our flight. We have 5 hours to kill. Here some questions:

    1. What is the nearest rental place?
    2. Can you walk to it?
    3. Can you return it to FLL Airport?
    4. Is it better to go to FLL and rent then return back to FLL to return?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We have used the Budget at 1515 SE 17th St, which is only a half mile away from your terminal. Easy walking on sidewalks or use their free shuttle. Decent rates for one-way rentals, with drop off at FLL.

We've also done the reverse direction as well.

  2. We have a card from Princess showing our number. We are elite with Princess. Where will that take us on the MSC loyalty programme?

You'll get the VC Black card.

Our cruise leaves on 10 January so not much time to send anything off in any event.

A few weeks ago, I applied for status match with Princess Elite and received a reply and match from MSC the next day. So it may still be worth a try.

  3. Does anyone know which Port Royal Princess uses in Dominica? I know there are 2 but cannot find anywhere which one we will be at.

We were on the Royal Princess last Sept. and were surprised we didn't dock at the downtown Roseau location.

We docked at the Woodbridge Bay Deep Water Harbour instead.

There were shuttle buses (don't know about fees), but we walked to the downtown core.

We asked why we didn't dock at the more convenient downtown location and were told the captain preferred the further dock (maybe easier??).

So be prepared for either location.

  4. One little bit of fun information that most people do not know is that "most" of the Ships were built at Fincanteri in Italy, BUT the Gem Class Ships, Diamond and Sapphire, were actually built in Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries!!!

I loved sailing on the Sapphire Princess!

    Happy Cruising!

    Mark

Also, the Diamond is actually the Sapphire hull.

During construction, the Diamond caught on fire and 70% of the ship was destroyed.

The Sapphire hull was used in order to keep the Diamond build on schedule.

  5. Right now, I have four ($25.00) credits toward a really long cruise. I am staying away from short cruises because I don't want this credit applied to it.

You can choose which referral credits are applied to which cruise or cruises.

  6. Does anyone know if they serve any frozen coffee drinks similar to a Tim Horton's Ice Capp or a starbucks Frappucino? Not just iced coffee with ice cubes in it but an actual blended frozen coffee drink?

    Thanks

    Don

    The Banoffee Blast is excellent!!

  7. No big deal, just bring them back to the ship. My experience recently is that not all ships are putting pool towels in the closet these days. Passengers need to get them by the pool now is what I find. YMMV, this is my experience.

Yes, be sure to bring them back.....see way too many Princess towels left behind at the beach.

Don't want to see a towel deposit like Royal Caribbean.

Also, there's usually a dirty towel bin when you get back aboard.

  8. Princess used to have a resort in California--the San Diego Princess Resort, in Mission Bay. I stayed there back in the 90's. The Seawitch logo was everywhere, and there was a model of the original Pacific Princess in the lobby...and remember Carnival Airlines?

We've stayed there as well.....it was a really nice resort.

  9. But now, I wonder, if I gift OBC to myself for this cruise - we would receive US at 1.30. If I had not changed the booking - would I have received US OBC at 1.35? I guess the question is - does the OBC and other pre-cruise purchases come in at the current exchange rate (1.30) or the rate you booked the overall cruise at (previously for us 1.35 - but now 1.30 anyway)?

    Don

OBC you buy for yourself, is at the same exchange rate that you booked.

    I have a cruise booked at 10% exchange......but it's only a one-nighter :(

  10. I'll wait until I get my March 31 statement to send it in for the next cruise which isn't until late May. There won't be any 90 day issues with that one, thankfully. Although, it appears there weren't any issues with today's request either :p :D

You could probably fax in this request now.

I just faxed an OBC request this morning at 9am and when I checked at 10am, it was already in my personalizer.

    Thanks again, Princess booking support!!!

  11. I'm a little concerned about the requirement that the proof of ownership has to be dated less than 90 days before the cruise. My brokerage only issues statements quarterly, so my last statement will be more than 90 days old by the time I cruise, and I won't get the next statement in time to send it in (cruise is very early April). I wonder how strict they are about the 90 day rule  I'm not sure what else to do. Just pulling up my account on the web doesn't help, because my name is nowhere on the page. :(

Just try faxing your request with your last statement (probably Dec.?).

I haven't found them to be too strict with the dates.

I just received my shareholder OBC, with a Jan. 31st statement, for an early May cruise.

  12. Neighbors just returned from a Royal cruise and we are sailing on Royal on the 23rd of March. There is a BOGO beverage Happy Hour from 3 to 4 PM (supposedly) at each bar/lounge. This is new and my Royal Princess representative thought this to be true.

Buy a coffee card if you would enjoy the International Café. Their Pizzeria restaurant has always been a mid-day favorite.

    Not at every bar.

    Crooners between 3 & 4 PM and Club6 11 to midnight.

Good way to stock up on canned or bottled beer :)
