  1. That is what I always thought, that’s why I was asking what the guy meant. I assume he meant the second scenario I presented, but it didn’t read that way.
  2. Wait I am so lost. So if I wait, and book a $50 excursion on board, I somehow get the $50 back in OBC? That’s the way it sounds. Or are you saying if I book a $100 excursion on board, I am charged $100, but $50 goes back on my account once I take the excursion? I ask because I have zero desire to take any excursions, but booked some under $50 because they’d be free. If there’s a way to get any of that as OBC I’d love to pursue it!
  3. I would guess you or your husband are a secondary cardholder on the same account. If that's the case, as soon as you added it the 2nd time, it disappeared from the first card. If you have separate accounts, you can both add and use the offer.
  4. I’ll report back when I try it on the Getaway in a few weeks. I like the idea of having a salad/appetizer at the dining room, then enjoying the entree back on my balcony. We’ll see though, I may end up just enjoying my meal in the DR reading a book or catching up on emails.
  5. ok thanks all! I'll cancel my reservations and enjoy my meal there :)
  6. Hey all- Going on my first solo cruise later this month on the Getaway. I made several 5:30pm dining reservations for the different MDR's, just to switch it up each night. My question is, is that necessary? Looking at older threads, I see most people recommend MDR reservations, particularly for larger groups. Is it totally overkill for just me? Also not that I plan on doing it, but would it be bad to not show up for a reservation at a complimentary dining venue? I guess there would be no penalty but seems like bad form if it holds up a table for 15 minutes till they release it to someone else waiting. If I ditch the reservations entirely this doesn't become an issue, obviously. Finally, would it be unusual if I asked to have my entrée to go? No need to take a table up if it's not against the rules (I know they don't care if you get a plate at a buffet and go back to your room) Just trying to get a grasp on solo cruising in general and I'd prefer to get food from the MDR over the buffet. Thanks in advance for any insight!
  7. I have the 150 minutes free at sea promo for a 10 day cruise coming up later this month. Right now NCL offers me to upgrade to unlimited (non streaming) for $199.90. It seems the consensus is you can get a better offer by waiting until day 2. Anyone have any idea if that's still true for a 10 day itinerary? I see most are commenting on upgrading from a 12+ day cruise, which gives you 300 minutes as credit against the upgrade, so maybe it's different for me at only 150 mins
  8. I see that O'Sheehans is open 24 hours a day, but has bar services "8am-close". I wonder what closing time is?
  9. Thank you! It's even the exact same itinerary I'm going on.
  10. Hello all- I'm sailing on the NCL Getaway next month. I have found most of the restaurant menus, which is nice. But I can't find any drink menus, or the operating hours for any restaurant or bar. Maybe a dumb question, but are those available anywhere? I'd ask the same question about the Casino but I assume that's all itinerary based (when it's legally allowed to be open)
  11. Just want to update, I ended up just booking through NCL. The big travel website offering prepaid gratuities did tell me it would show up as being billed from NCL on my Amex, but I was already getting a great deal so I didn't want to risk it. Thank you all for your input.
  12. I totally get it, I imagine this place would turn into 99% promotion if they let everyone name TA's, websites, etc.
  13. I have reached out to a few but they basically just match what NCL.com does. No prepaid gratuities. Nice to see a fellow NH resident! I got to meet several on my Bermuda cruise out of Boston a few years back. Good to know once I find an agent that's an option.
  14. That would be ideal just need to find a good one. I understand why CC doesn't allow sharing specific TA's, as I'm sure it would just be constant promotion on here. Just a bit overwhelming for me!
  15. Hello all- I was lucky enough to get the recent American Express offer that gives me $350 back on spending $1k. I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to booking cruises. Obviously, if I book a cruise costing over $1k through NCL.com I would qualify for the $350 back. However, if I book at some of the bigger travel websites, I could get some additional OBC and prepaid gratuities which is a pretty substantial amount. I'm trying to determine if when booking through a third party website, do they charge me or do does the charge show up as NCL? I am told if booking though a travel agent, the charge shows up as NCL and triggers the offer. If I had a travel agent that could offer me the extras I'm looking for that would be ideal, but I don't have an agent as I don't travel frequently. If it matters, I'm looking to go on the 10 day Caribbean sailing of the Getaway towards the end of November. Any guidance or thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
  16. Hey all. I added this offer last week but I was confused about using it outside of NCL.com. Seems from other responses using a travel agent works. I'd love to take advantage of some of the other websites that offer extra OBC and prepaid gratuities, but I assume those wouldn't qualify for the amex credit? I decided to chat with Amex today to ask what "through your preferred travel advisor" meant. The guy sent me a link to a travel agency called "Preferred Travel of Naples". When I mentioned how absurd that sounds, the agent said it was 100% accurate and the promo was worded wrong. Amazing. Anyway, so besides my question about booking through a site like ***** to get extra benefits, I am hoping someone can clear up how the CruiseFirst certificates work. Right now, there's a promo of buying a $300 certificate for $150. Does that mean I could buy 7 of them for a total of $1050, get the credit then redeem them all for a future cruise? Or are you limited on how many you can redeem at once? Thanks!
