IIRC = If I remember correctly.
Your best bet is to search this forum for the info.
I thought it was a company, too!! Thanks for clarifying!!

I thought I had read that you weren't allowed to bring coolers on board. Maybe that's just for carry-on purposes?
I think that depends on the port....We always slap a luggage tag on our roll on cooler on the Dawn in Boston, but I was told we cant do that in New Orleans.

Patty! How ya been? How's my buddy Scott? We miss you guys!
Scott is great!! We are heading to NOLA for a cruise on the DAWN next month...Our honeymoon cruise....there are 12 of us going, 4 driving and 8 flying!! I cant wait!!
Tell Christie I said hi!! (I hope I spelled her name correctly)!!
So you are going on the Gem? You will have so much fun!!

Thank you!

Let's hear some more Gem tips. I'm gonna be a PITA until my January Gem cruise, so you all might as well start posting up them tips! :D:D:D
Bryan, my daughter and her best friend went on the Gem this past May, they loved it and Big Ben, was on it, remember him, he ran the pub crawl on the Dawn last October with the pink afro wig. We didn't do the pub crawl, but we saw them at the end at the pool bar. We are hoping he is on the Dawn Nov 15

Thanks for taking the time to post!! I don't think I will be cruising the Breakaway in the near future, looks too big for me!! I love the Dawn...So much that we are driving to New Orleans in a couple of weeks for her Western Caribbean itinerary. (2nd time, cruised it in January!!)
I guess we will be stuck with Boston to Bermuda and New Orleans to Western Caribbean for a while.
BTW, I booked my excursions last cruise based on your reviews!! Thanks, and please keep them coming!!

Can I put a luggage tag on a case of water at the port in New Orleans? We are cruising NCL next month.

Last year we had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with the adjoining mini suite. The ressie were together and the kids in the mini were all under 20. We all checked in together, (we were all under one credit card) and the butler brought all of us to Cagneys for lunch. That was the only time that the kids from the mini went to Cagneys. We were all allowed to disembark together.

If you go to Senor Frogs for a drink (or food) ask your server for the WIFI password.

We sailed on the Star a number of times, both before and after they moved the Spinnaker Lounge aft and The Blue Lagoon to deck 8. it was on deck 7 where the photo shop is now.
We were just on the Dawn and was informed by the Hotel Director at the meet and greet that The Pearly King Pub is to be turned into a wine bar during the next dry docking. I guess this could happen on the Star also. I enjoyed the pub and will be sad to see it go.
 I love Pearly Kings just the way it is. We are on the Dawn next month and booked October, 2016. Hopefully it will still be a fun meeting place!!

Thank you so much for posting!! I don't think I would be happy on a mega ship and your post really reinforced what I was thinking!!

I was married on the Majesty in August of 2005. (Unfortunately the marriage didn't last, but we did have a beautiful wedding). We had about 20 people cruising with us. The first night my daughter met the man she would marry.
This past August they celebrated their 10th anniversary of meeting and their
8th wedding anniversary. They were married in August of 2007 and they honeymooned on the Majesty, too. There were 10 of us on their honeymoon. I don't think they minded at all (especially since I paid for it, LOL).

If you like seafood then you need to try Denies Seafood 841 Iberville in the French Quarter their food is fresh right out if the gulf. Also if you like to drink my favorite drink is the Voodoo Juice it has like 5 different rums in it but is is so good. Also the Clover Grill 900 Bourdain is open 24 hours it is a little hole in the wall but after I night of drinking and have the munchies you will enjoy their food. Enjoy your trip
Sounds like I will have to try the Voodoo Juice!!! Thanks for the tips!!

Thanks.
Just take heed of my red-worded warning at the top of the webpages. My information is cut-and-pasted from "somewhere" on the internet so it's only as accurate as that online source. I use it for research and then get a specific clarification (cruise critic or email to source) for what we end up doing.
Have a great cruise!
Thanks for all the info!! I was on the Dawn in January and will be again on November. We cant wait. This will be my 5th time cruising on the Dawn and I love to plan plan plan.

Thanks for posting!! I am on the Dawn next month!!

This is one of those times where you are better off just ordering it the way it comes. They are sickly sweet and one is enough. I always say to order the hurricane at Pat O's as a novelty, not because it is such a yummy drink.
I personally really like Court of Two Sisters and if you have limited time in town and want to try a variety of NOLA favorites. They are well prepared. Are they the singular best at all these dishes, no, but they are all very good examples. Also since it is buffet, if you find something you don't care for then you can just switch to something else.
Thank you!! When we were in New Orleans in January, it was just my husband and I, this time there are 12 of us!! We cant wait.
-
Thanks for posting. We were on the Dawn in January and will be on her again next month out of New Orleans. We are 15 miles south of Boston, but really like the Western Caribbean itinerary.
A friend of mines mom and step father were on your cruise. Her step father had a heart attack and died in Bermuda. God bless him, he was 89 years old. She said that everyone from NCL went over and above to help her mom. She said that someone from the crew helped her mom pack and made her flight arrangement to fly home. Her mom flew home and her step father will be flown home this week.

We stayed at the Prytania Oaks Hotel in the Garden District in January and we are staying there again next month. They offer free parking while you are on your cruise. I think its about $100 a night.
We took the trolley back and forth to the French Quarter, it was a short ride.
-
We were on the Dawn in January, we got there pretty early and the crew member that escorted us up took us to our suite, we dropped off our carryon bags and we went to Cagneys on our own. It wasn't a butler that escorted us, he worked in the casino, maybe that's why?
-
Just do it!!
We are booked on the Dawn in November. Twelve of us from Boston, four of us are driving and the other eight are flying....We cant wait!!
-
I am on the Dawn Nov 15. I still have my dailies from the Dawn this past Jan 25. I am using them as a "loose" guideline. I know things wont be exactly the same, but should be pretty close.
I cant wait to get onboard!!
-
I don't believe water is included. I always bring a case of water on the ship. Just slap a luggage tag on it, and they bring it right up to your cabin! :D:D
Bryan, HOW ARE YOU???????
-
We are driving to NO in February for the first time....would you share with me which hotel you stayed at in the Garden District?
In January we stayed at the Prytania Oaks, next month we are staying at their sister hotel, Prytania Park. Its one block St Charles and the trolley. We took a taxi to the pier, I am not sure, but I think it was about $20.

We have a Jazz Brunch ressies for the Court of Two Sisters, has anyone been there?
