  1. They have not sold the ticket booklets at the Dockyard for a number of years. They sell the tokens, one and two day passes there. You can buy booklets in Hamilton and St. George's.

My plan is to purchase 2 tokens at $4.50 each (one for my bride and one for myself) the first day we get to Bermuda to take the ferry to Hamilton after dinner.

While in Hamilton I will purchase one booklet of 15 tickets to use for both of us for getting back to the dockyard and for Day 2 and 3 in Bermuda. My understanding is that you provide a ticket to the bus driver or ferry service upon boarding just like a token or $5 bill would be turned in.

  2. If I purchase a booklet of 15 tickets, is this only good for the ferry or are they good for buses as well? Also, why is one booklet of 15 tickets $37.50 and another $25.00? I am confused about tokens, booklets, tickets, passes, and exact change.

  3. We cruised the Summit in March, 2017. I didn't see any 16 oz cans of beer.

When the five day cruise started:

"Classic" (Bud, Coors, etc) 12 oz bottles of beer were $5.50/ea plus an obligatory 18% tip = $6.49.

Premium 12 oz bottled beers $6 to $7.50 plus tip.

"Mixed drinks", including vodka tonics with house vodka $8 plus tip.

I discovered the five beer buckets of "Classics" for the price of four at the aft Sunset Bar. After my first order with a supplemental tip the bartender gave me six per bucket.

On the third day, on TV, the booze master announced that all "Classic beers and cocktails" would be $5 plus tip for the rest of the cruise. Some bartenders said vodka tonics are "mixed drinks", not cocktails, and would charge $8 or $7, but some charged $5. Why $7? I don't know. A couple still charged me $5.50 for a Classic but corrected it when I asked them to.

I didn't get a $45 plus tip package, not figuring to average over eight beers per day. It's intended for one particular person only. Not sure how bartenders know if you're the legit owner of a package. That one person can only buy one drink at a time. It would have paid off for us if I made additional bar visits to get drinks for my wife. There was a plethora of staff walking around pushing the packages on the first day.

The Celebrity FAQ said you are allowed to bring "two bottles of wine on board per stateroom". We thought about bringing magnums but finally e-mailed asking if there's a size limit. The answer, "750 ml". I see that it now says, "limited to two (2) 750ml bottles per stateroom."

Free glasses of champagne on boarding.

Thank you, this is the information I have been looking for.

  4. I'm not currently keen about Staten Island because of the intermittent and unpredictable Bayonne Bridge closures. I'm assuming you know you will have to pay a $15 toll to get from NJ to Staten Island.

What route are you coming in from Ohio? I80, I78, or NJ Turnpike? You are 4 adults - how many rooms and bed configuration? What kind of points do you have. What would be your hotel budget/room.

I am planning on booking the May 20th cruise, I would be driving from Ohio taking I-80 through PA. What is a good location for a pre-night hotel stay before driving to the port the morning of the cruise? I am open to driving an hour or so if that means staying further away to save on the cost of a hotel. Thank you all for this thread, I have learned a lot about the Anthem.

  5. Hi everyone.

In January my wife and I and my parents and siblings (and their spouses) are going on the Jewel of the Seas, leaving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

I've done a little bit of research on different things to do at each of the stops, but would like to know what experiences people have had. The ports are: Bridgetown, Barbados; Castres, St. Lucia; St. Johns, Antigua; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

Any information on which stops would be best for snorkeling, zip-lining, just hitting the beach, shopping or seeing the sights will be appreciated (as well as if there is anything at any of the ports that we should avoid).

    Thank you.

    My suggestions based on experience.

    Barbados: Calabaza or, Silvermoon catamaran

St Lucia: Day pass at Rendevous, or Spencer Ambrose tours

Antigua: Adventure Antigua - Eli's eco tour, or South Coast Horizons Jeep safari tour

St Maarten: Captain Bob Soualiga Destinations, or Bernard's tour II

St Croix: Big Beards to Buck Island, or Gecko's ATV/Jet Ski combo tour.

  6. We both love that watch , as already said know your prices and you sometimes can get a really good deal on the ship, my wife got her Citizen on a cruise ship

I agree that the prices are similar on the ship as well. However, I did not like the selection on the ship. I found one much nicer in my opinion in St Maarten, plus a lot more selection to choose from. My suggestion is to wait before buying on the ship. Check out some stores, get some pricing, and see if you can get a better deal or similar on the ship.

  7. Can you only find the very expensive watches on these islands or can you pick up a decent timex watch.

Same with jewelry , are their any reasonable priced costume jewelry or just precious stones?

What other items are available besides jewelry.

    Thank

I purchased a Citizen eco drive watch in St Maarten. Then I won some money in the casino to cover most of the cost. I was also able to get a little more discount by paying in cash. There are all kinds of high end jewelry stores in both St Thomas and St Maarten.

  8. Thanks for posting this! I have the rendezvous booked in 2 weeks. Did you have to call before hand to confirm your reservation. I have my confirmation email. How was the beach? Was it rocky when going into the ocean or nice and smooth?

I had only contacted them via email along with a follow up email just to make sure they still had our reservation. The beach was amazing. There is a small spot of fine broken shells once you first enter the ocean but keep going about 10 more feet and it is soft nice and smooth sand. They also have two pools, one with a swim up bar and there is also the "lazy river". We didn't use this lazy river as all of the chairs were taken and it is a smaller section than I thought it would be. However, the beach and the swim up pool was more than enough for us to enjoy our time there. This resort was very laid back and quiet. This is to our liking but just a warning to those who prefer a party beach club atmosphere this is not for you.

  9. I want to say there was 20-25 of us on the trip. It didn't feel crowded and we had a friendly group. I do remember the "white cooler" filled with rum punch was the reason we all were having a great time by the end of the day.

  10. It's very easy, all flat, takes about 15-25 minutes depending on walking speed and which port.

From La Place Carnage (two story shopping port area), turn left out of the shopping area, follow the road along to first junction, hang a left, follow along the waterfront past the roundabout, past Serenity Park on your left, past playing field on right, all the way to the airport runway, turn right up to the end of the runway, hang a left around the end, you'll find Rendezvous right there.

From Point Seraphine, exit shopping area, walk along access road to highway (there's a Rubies gas station in corner) hang a left, walk past playing field to airport runway, and follow from above...Very easy walk, it's flat the whole way, sidewalks most of the way, etc.

    Enjoy your visit.

Thank you very much. I will bring these directions with me and walk.

  11. At last notice, day pass was still $65us pp, with variable hours depending on your pet schedule, but generally 10-4. It's walking distance from the port, or a taxi will run $10-15us one way.

The resort usually responds quickly to inquiries, so give them a chance to get back to you...and let us know if prices have changed, etc...Enjoy your visit.

How is the walk? I have a day pass from 9-3 for $65, as long as I don't each breakfast only lunch.
