I ,too, have booked another cruise,,and NOT on SB,due to this policy.That s over 6 so far since last on on SB.Now going on Oceania for 3rd time(a premium line ,I know).Also gone Regent,SeaDream .

Have 2016 open.Still holding out SB??:confused:

I must agree that I think they will be unhappy with this cruise.As a nurse I m very aware of people with disabilities and have seen quite a few struggle on river cruises.Many had probls.just getting aboard on thin gangplank,not suitable to wheel chairs.Then they could NOT get on top deck due to stairs.

Even with collapsible wheelchairs ,the cobblestorne is almost impossible to mange.In the end they just stayed onboard in lounge.

Let them know exactly what its like,encourage them to re think this.Sorry,for bad news but being realistic.

Good points.Will ask for those rooms.ALso, good to hear about room service.Think we d like full breakfast some days by room service.That and the tub prompted booking jr.suite.Want some real pampering,haha.

Yes, did read all the 2013 reviews.We just need some NEW ones for 2014,I ll do one when I get back too.

They do have generic stuff there.Then they list specific cruises after,so you can compare,etc.They just didn't inc.those two on list.

Since many seem to like them(btw not me)but good to have all the options listed.

Then newbies,or others, can ask specific questions on the board and not same ones over and over.

Did they every have lunch or dinner on top deck?or could you take food up there from River Café? Did you ever use room service?How was the hotel in Budapest?What was the entertainment like at nite?

TO be on safe side, after 12 noon.That s what my TA said .Airport about 30 mins.away,but traffic can be bad in am.That way you can enjoy am and not worry about flight.

May be different timing for documents here in US.I get mine about 3 to 4 wks.in advance.

We got off Insignia 6 mos.ago and loved it. Sure you ll have fun.The staff was great and food wonderful.

My only complaint with that link is that it needs to be updated to include other cruise lines like Vantage and Grand Circle that do have a following on this board. ( have asked...)

Many lines do this,such as AMA.Viking,uniworld,etc.

I did the AMA one and loved it.BUt do check out the different lines.Look at videos on you tube,read member reviews,etc.

Find out what s best for you.Many people have one favorite line,I ve been on all the major ones and ea.has good and bad points.None are ever PERFECT,but still great.Try one ,if not for you,try another.

Do research all the lines.Try http://www.cruisecritic.com/river for more info on all the lines.Then make your choice.

They range in price,cabin style,inclusions,etc.Pick what s be st for you and your budget.Tend to GET what you pay for.

Can t mention TA s on this site.Google for ones that offer discounts.Get a couple quotes and check them out with BBB in their city too.

Just read by googling about the flooding there.Wonder if anyone on the Danube river right now that s being effected by this?

Taking a Budapest to Bucharest cruise in 1 mo.and worry if this will be a problem.Going to Belgrade,and Romania towns on river.

Of course,sorry to hear about loss of life,etc.Don t mean to sound insensitive,but (of course) I AM worried about this.

I prefer Spring or Fall.Have been on 10 so far.Started with Castles on Danube,Rhine,etc.Moved to France(Southern) and on from there.Look at the many reviews,also ea.website for cruises has video.Check out you tube.

Pick one and then if not the BEST,pick another for next time.All different,so just START.PS.then moved to Russia,Portugal,Egypt,Vietnam,etc....gets addictive.

Now doing Budapest to Bucharest in June,then N.France next May.

HINT,book EARLY for best cabin and choice of dates.:)

We have done it BOTH ways,not in winter tho.When we were younger and liked to drive and pack every day,it was great.Loved the trains,etc.

Now in 60 s and have been doing river cruises since our 40s.Enjoy THAT too.Always on option later,but even when younger we had plenty to do .

Now we re happy to use the ship as a traveling hotel and bus.;);)

If that s the case,I don t understand the previous post that said NO balcony,even French.

Also, in US Scenic is a relatively NEW cruiseline.Only heard about it last yr.and checked web and got brochure.Boy, it sure LOOKS great.Top of the line.Sort of like Seabourn,etc.only on the river.

My TA is Australian and told me about it also.She s been on 2 and LOVED it.Her next favorite is AMA(which I HAVE taken and by favorite SO FAR).:):)

Canal archive,I too will be on Scenic Gem for N.France next May.Hope I like THIS one,since I already signed up for another,haha.:):)

I ll be on a Scenic ship in a mo.and they also have a full balcony with option to shut glass enclosure over it.

A petition was mentioned above,but never heard more about it.??

Sad to hear that new Uniworld ship has NO balconies,odd since many of the new longships are now inc.BOTH.Now if they just had a screen option that could go over it(like glass one above)would be great.:)

Well, I ve been WAITING for 2 yrs.now.In that time I ve been on 6 cruises.Now to me that s money I COULD have spent on SB,but choose NOT TO due to this policy.

So sad, LOVED everything about the one I took EX>FOR SMOKE in halls,etc...

Guess I ll have to just keep WAITING.
