The smaller ships had excellent string quartets from Europe who played everything from classical to pop to show tunes etc. They appeared in different venues around the ship. Our favorite was before dinner when they would play Bach and The Beatles, and much in between. Are they on Riviera as well?

Hurricane Fiona has caused such devastation this week in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic and other islands that cruise lines may have to change itineraries to stop at other locations. Too early to tell. Schedules can be changed to stop at alternative islands . Good luck to PR and DR et al.

In the Splendor suite, is there a TV in the living room or dining area? The brochure shows TV in the bedroom, the media room and veranda, but not living room.

It's a birthday cruise. Us too.

Well yes, each cruise has different passengers. Some disembark, some come aboard.
Why would it be more competitive, they are cruise ships, not sporting events.
Competitive? Pool loungers, bar stools, MDR tables, shady spots, tour busses, window seats, check ins, theater seats and most everything else to do with cruising.

So, back to the original question, would there be any difference in the passengers? Everyone on the smaller ships was very friendly. Hopefully it is not more competitive on the larger ships.

Other than the number of passengers and sheer size, what are the main differences between the two size ships for cruisers? We have been on Nautica and Sirena and have now booked Riviera and Vista which are much larger. We are platinum on Regent and their main ships are around 750 pax. What can we expect on the "O" larger ships?

Since you brought it up, I am going to ask. Why did you leave after 7 days?
Same question.

Are the fitness center and aerobics room open at night? Perhaps the noise above is limited to daytime.

Thanks for the info. It just seems that a suite under the fitness and aerobics rooms might hear some stomping. We are booked.

Can someone please comment on the Oceania suites on Riviera deck 12 ?
These are under the fitness center and aerobics room, etc.
Is noise an issue for these excellent, expensive suites? Thanks.

Are all those air travel problems worth it?

Sorry to learn of your illness We were booked on this cruise but cancelled . Please give us an account of your quarantine experience. Get well soon.

Is Regent still putting passengers into a quarantine area on the ship if they test positive? For example, they were using cabins on deck 6 aft on the Explorer.
The point of the question is: can you still spend your 14 day cruise shut in a cabin? I am not blaming them at all, just raising the question. The other cruise lines were operating the same way.

Explorer Suite and Splendor suites have a good sized dining table. Penthouse suites on those two ships have a small dining table for 2. The upper suites all have dining tables.

This winter our TA discontinued rebates altogether. She claimed that the cruise lines were no longer paying the same commissions to the agency. I don't believe it. We just receive a free limo ride to/from the ship and small onboard credit. So, maybe we are receiving around $600 benefit on a $30,000 cruise after using the same agent for many years, top category suites, 2 or 3 per year. Good service and good advice from this TA, but maybe she is too greedy now. Time for a new agent ?

We too have used them many times. Always satisfied.

I would guess that most Baltic cruises will cancel St.Petersburg which is a main attraction for that itinerary.

Many people give 20% cash or credit card if the service was good. If not good service, any amount up to 15% is customary. Some folks are happy to give 15% to 18% either way, good service or not.We choose 20%.

Just couldn’t take the chance of a horrible time getting there
When you cancelled, did you have to forfeit your fare or did you have a medical excuse to use for insurance?

Never saw a fan in the suite on any Regent ship. Special request ?

GoNavy - Great posting. Many thanks. I love seeing the infinity pool where I enjoyed so much time on the previous cruise.
Does Riviera have a string quartet like Nautica and Sirena?
