I was 21 and a marching member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (IYKYK).

Loved to watch the Cavaliers in DCI although never in person. That’s awesome you were a member!

  2. Definitely not cruise related but we have such a knowledgeable group from many places I thought this would be a good place to ask. I have always wanted to go to Boston for the July 4 Pops concert snd fireworks. My hubby has suggested we go in 2026 for the semiquincentennial (yes I had to look that up!).  We fully understand that crowds and prices will be beyond ridiculous but it’s something g I want to at least consider.

Anyone here know anything about “normal” year Boston July 4 celebrations or where I should even begin?

Finally, Sun Princess and Icon look amazing!!!  Anyone sailing on either in the near future?

Not “near” future but we will be in Sun Princess in May 2025. I’m reading EVERYTHING I can find about it and can’t wait!  It’s a 25th anniversary trip so we are living the high life in a suite. Just 447 days to go🤣

“Freestyle dining” is the thing I dislike from NCL, I wish they had the option for traditional dining.

2 of my first 3 cruises were on NCL. Once they got rid of traditional dining we never consider them anymore. We have had Anytime dining twice due to circumstances and both times, while fine, just reinforced our preference for traditional. Even our (then) young teen boys said the same. I’m glad Carnival still has both options as I certainly understand both preferences.

I haven't observed that on the Spirit before, that is odd. That is some prime real estate right next to the windows.

I’ve only seen it on the Pride and Spirit for Panama Canal day and in the fjord in Alaska. The put a row of chairs there for extra viewing area but just for those days. The tables were there the rest of the time. No reason for that on this cruise.

Is there a way to add the gift cards to your booking? I'd like to use a few to pay for the Cheers package.

You can use gift cards to purchase Cheers online before the cruise. If waiting until onboard you can add the gift cards to you sail and sign account at guest services or at kiosk.

Pastina is just the tiny pasta - I made that by simmering carrots, celery, and onion in chicken broth till soft, then I blended the veggies, added them back into the broth, and dumped in the pastina and let it cook in there.

Thanks!  That sounds exactly like the recipe I found. Definitely going to make this.

I have purchased more than 60 gift cards through AARP and have immediately checked the balance on each one. I have had zero issues using them to pay for cruises and EZ Air.

To the OPs question, when you have used them to pay for cruises did you pay the deposit with them also?  Did you book directly or with a TA?

  10. We just got home 3 days ago from this exact cruise.

In Aruba we rented a Jeep from Top Drive and did our own tour of the island.

In Bonaire we took a snorkeling excursion with Woodwind. Probably the best overall snorkeling excursion we’ve ever been on.

in Curacao we took a city tour with Irie Tours. Very well done.

We were very happy and highly recommend all of the above.

  11. Quiet Christmas Day after hosting 30 extended family for Christmas Eve party last night. Only 3 of us (DS age 20) so slow moving so far. I have progressed from mimosas to straight champs after presents though. Feet up and still in PJs do looks line Christmas meal will be supper instead of lunch🤣. Merry Christmas Tribe🎄🎅🏻🤶

While omelet options at the Lido omelet station were listed as just the three noted in the OP, I could ask for a combo of "everything" (i.e. ham and the veggies and whatever cheese(s)).

Were the vegetables pre-mixed or could you add only onions, for example?

I’m in 17636 starting April 8th. If no one has reported the “aft view” by then, I will let y’all know.

I’ve said it before but they absolutely wasted all the aft views from cabins on this ship!

We are in 17636 but not until May 2025. I was hoping it would be a good choice (booked the day it opened!) but had no idea. So far it seems even better than I hoped!
