  1. I my early September cruise approaches I am starting to get realization of what evenings will be like for me. DH who is normally up at 3:15 AM to get ready to leave for work at 4 AM and home at 3 PM often falls asleep by 7:30 PM. He cannot differentiate work time and vacation time as he has had this schedule for 27 years. This leaves me on my own in the evenings while he is back in the room sawing logs, bless his heart as we say in the south. Am I going to be the only one "painting the town red" in this situation? I see cruise evenings as doing what you normally don't do at home: latish dinner, shows, nights on the town, etc. I just don't want people gawking at me (social anxiety here) sitting in a corner of a lounge sipping on my adult beverage alone.
  2. With the increased numbers of people testing positive, what happens if our precruise test one of us tests positive preventing them from going and the other negative? Do we get any refund for the one that couldn't go? We do have the cruiseline insurance.
  3. He did lose the case. One must read the fine print.
  4. You must have the same aquatince. His blood is 90 proof.
  5. That is the problem with any spa. Even my local land based Burke Williams does that. On HAL at the begining of the treatment I told them I was not buying any products and after the treatment they started on their pitch so I reminded them I was not interested in buying products. She kept pushing and pushing until I said, "what part of I am not buying any products is difficult to understand?"
  6. That is what I thought. I had an acquaintance once that took a three nighter on Carnaval and tried to sue them for false advertising on the "unlimited beverage package" that was capped at 15 drinks a day per person. If you are stressed over that, you don't need a cruise, you need Betty Ford. Sounds like it is safer to do 7 night minimum cruise then.
  7. When I did the RCCL cruise, a lot of the other passengers were, let's just say a bit edgy and rough around the edges. It almost had a feel of, "uncle got out of prison so we are doing a family trip," type crowd. I know we are comparing different categories of cruise lines like comparing a VW to a Rolls Royce. Just thought the higher end cruise line would deter some of that.
  8. I am thinking about taking a little short 4 night cruise from Los Angeles. The last time I took a short cruise was on RCCL to Ensenada and it was truly a booze cruise. Will I run into the same on Celebrity? What about the little short cruises to the Caribbean?
  9. What is your thoughts on this. In 2005 we took a RCCL cruise to the Mexican Riviera and ended up with more Pesos than was worth trying to convert to US Dollars. Our waiter in the dining room went way above and beyond, but we were set up with prepaid grats and wanted to give him some extra. Speaking with him during the cruise, he said he always had some time in one of the Mexican port to go to Wal Mart to stock up on supplies. We figured that was it, we will tip extra cash. We asked if he wanted us to go to GS and exchange our Pesos for Dollars and he graciously accepted the idea of Pesos. Anyone else similar or want to chime in on this?
  10. You say that like Steiner is a bad thing. My first cruise on Celebrity is this September. Have used spa treatments on Princess, Holland, and Royal. Now I am not sure I want to use the spa on Celebrity.
  11. According to their official website one of the kids programs is Camp at Sea, and looks like the youngest set is the 3 - 5 age bracket. It is called shipmates and must be fully potty trained. Here is the link to the kids programs Camp at Sea: Cruise Kids Club & Teens Club | Celebrity Cruises
  12. I get to check in in mid July for our Sept cruise on the Solstice. What do I need to have handy to complete the check in process on the app?
  13. You are never too young or too old for cruising. Some lines cater to younger others to older. A Travel Specialist will be able to share their expertise on a good fit for a cruise line and cruise ship.
  14. All very good points. Not knowing the weather in Alaska in September it might be veranda worthy it might not. Decided to just keep my C3.
  15. I've seen I can purchase nice luggage tag holders for the print at home tags for Celebrity Cruises available on Amazon. The reviews some people say the tags don't fit too well. Has anyone bought these and what is your experience with them.
  16. On the flip side, if I were to wait until I get to the terminal and ask really nicely, "what are the chances of upgrading," again a crap shoot, but does that happen. especially now with chances of people testing positive just befor ethe cruise?
  17. So does that mean just because RS is not available to outright purchase it is not worth bidding on because I wouldn't get it anyway? I should do sky suite and lower since sky is the only one available to purchase directly?
  18. Oh decisions decisions. What to do what to do?
  19. I did go on line and the only suite available to purchase right out now is sky. Now I am confused why the others are up for bid.
  20. Up to is maximum. $3110 pp is the lowest strongest bid available. Lowest weakest bid is $1500 pp.
  21. Actually the retreat is not with 100% of the benefits. The Retreat deck is not on the Solstice...that I can find on the deck plans.
  22. I received a move up bid officer from Concierge C3 to: Celebrity Suite up to $2,000 per person Royal Suite up to $3750 per person Which would you do and why? This is our first to Alaska and first on Celebrity.
