I can’t speak to the crossing, but you should know that January/February is the rainy season. Last year multiple ships were turned away from tendering into both Kona and Lahaina due to weather. I would expect some rain daily- more if you visit the wet side of the islands (Princeton, Hilo, Hana, etc…). But even so the weather is significantly better than Michigan winters 🙂
Thank you!

Has anyone done this cruise during Jan? How cold was the weather? Seas rough?

What do you think is the best time to visit Hawaii? Crowds, weather, airfares?

Unvaccinated passengers are required to take a PCR test between 72 and 24 hours from the date of sailing. They also will take an antigen test at the terminal. Source: Have Fun. Be Safe. | COVID-19 Guest Protocols | Carnival Cruise Line (scroll down as needed)
Thank you for this information!!

If you are not vaccinated, any particular tests required?

Do you have to be tested during your cruise?

This is promising, do you have any examples? I'd like to learn more.
Why is a passport necessary? We didn't have then during hiv, polio, hepatitis, bird flu, German measles, swine flu and pneumonia outbreaks. Covid Is right under the chicken pox hysteria. Most survived but rather painful.

I keep telling NCL's sales staff I wouldn't take the vaccine, so I won't be cruising with them. I get at least one call or email a day with all kinds of perks. They better stop harassing a state and find a way to get along if they want to stay in business.

We received our first shot this week and are scheduled for the follow-up second dose on 31 March. Despite some earlier "hiccups" the system is finally looking as though it is working as planned -- at least in our area.

We are doing great in SC getting vaccines if you want one, .all of my neighbors have been vaccinated. I do not want one. I have two auto immune diseases and don’t want a third.. My neurologist said not to take it, many with neurological diseases are getting worse after shot. Not everyone can tolerate it.

Not anymore for your middle comment or, at least, they applied different rules for this pandemic. Remember hydroxychloroquine, it has been around since 1955 for malaria, but they limit it to hospital use for this virus where it was not effective (as an anti-viral, it stops or inhibits the growth of virus, but by the time you enter the hospital because of breathing difficulties, your immune system is attacking the live/dead virus in your lungs - paradoxically, they can't find live covid-19 virus in almost all patients 12 days after onset of 1st symptoms, I guess your immune system kills all the live virus, but it is also continue to attack the dead virus). You can find many negative studies concerning HCQ for clinical/hospital applications, but you can't find any negative study on outpatient application of the drug. They also did not recommend physicians to use ivermectin for covid-19, but they recently have changed their mind, now they left it up to doctor and patient where it should have been. So, if you haven't gotten your vaccine and you catch covid-19, you might want to discuss the use of ivermectin between you and your doctor for outpatient use. There are dozens of observational and some formal studies of ivermectin throughout the world except in the Western world. The overwhelming number of them are positive.
How can you buy ivermectin?
-
Not buying this at all. If you take a vaccine and it makes you safe, that’s great. But why force me to take it? How is that hurting anyone?

Agree completely. IF everyone would subscribe to this advice we'd be much farther along towards ending the pandemic.
I don’t think it will ever end as you say. We have to take medications and keep ourselves as healthy as we can by vitamins, minerals, etc. . If we don’t get back to work, there will be tons more of homeless, diseases, and crime. I am seeing it in my area.

NCL is declaring bankruptcy, I really think they need to get this show on the road. So sad this is effecting so many people’s lively hood.

We are booked for Jan on epic. I hope we get to sail. Now I hear they are going bankrupt! It’s time they sail again. We can’t continue to be afraid. Let those of us who want to be the guina pigs go ahead and sail. We will protect the workers and do most things for ourselves! 😄

We booked for Jan 10 on the Epic in southern Caribbean. Our final payment is due in September. Everything is a chance. Maybe it would be better to wait until last minute but hopefully all this will be over.

We are scheduled to cruise on Emerald Princess April 29th from LA to Hawaii. Has anyone cruised this itinary during this time and what was the weather and wave action like during this time? Thank you!.

On most six night cruises, will they have one formal or two formal nights?
-
Not to be a Debbie Downer but it looks like rain all week. Pretty bummed I have to fly in storm to get to cruise with more rain...I must be doing something wrong in my life

What did you like, dislike? Did you get to stop at all ports? How was food, entertainment?
-
Just in case? You don't know if you get motion sickness? Why don't you find out before you take a medication with side effects. Try ginger pills, Dramamine, Bonine or something that you can take when the need arises.
If she does get deathly sick, she will be miserable the rest of the cruise. Better be safe than sorry. I know by experience. :(

I always use the patches, usually one works for most of the cruise (7 days). I have taken bonine along with the wrist bands and got sick as soon as we passed the breakers. I won't take that chance again. I put it on the night before cruise, helps me sleep and I keep it on for about 5 days. I then put a new one on and it lasts until I get home. Hope this helps. I get sick in car, carnival rides, boats, etc....

Is the Amber Cove port difficult to dock at in bad weather? My friends just returned on a RCCL cruise and the weather was so bad they missed two ports. I was just wondering what the port is like.
Thank you!

Just wondering if singles have a special place to meet to talk about excursions, dinner, just anything?
Thanks,
