  1. Thank you. Spingal, I don't have a problem with this group, or any other group ,as long as our cruise is not disrupted by the people involved. We were part of a Dixeyland music group years ago and people not registered as part of the group were denied access to events. They were very upset and I don't blame them. I don't want that happening to us and our family that will be joining us.

I cruised with this group years ago. Public rooms were closed at times for their use. And they do take over some of the pools. For me it wasn't really an issue but I do know that some people will not cruise with them because of the size of their group. So just be prepared that you could be impacted.

  2. Tracie,

I cried when I read your post. I am so sorry to hear this news. But I am so happy you had this one last cruise together with her. What wonderful memories.

My Dad is 84 and my Mom will be 80 in October. Unfortunately we have had to cancel our last two cruises due to their health issues. We are scheduled to leave on 9/23 on the Crown. I hope and pray we make it. Like you, my Mom (and Dad) are the world to me. We have cruised a lot but your post makes me realize that if we make this cruise I must cherish every moment that much more.

I loved your European adventures. I send you my thoughts and prayers and hope that each day will get better for you.

    Take care.

  3. We have just arrived in Alaska!

Yesterday, we had a quiet day onboard... Enjoyed some sun at the aft terrace pool. Yes, it was partially sunny and warm in the sun. A little chilly out of the sun though. For a portion of the day, we were fogged in, and every five minutes, you could hear the fog horn blowing.

I don't know why we were late departing from Seattle, but I do know that they were still loading luggage onboard after 4:30 p.m.

The Crown is a very lovely ship, everything is in tip top shape.

We did manage to attend for a short while the Captain's reception (I just wanted one of the chocolate pops, which were to die for!). Then, onto the 50th Anniversary dinner, which was very, very good. I just don't understand how people can say food isn't good...

Yes, I did get my shorex problem fixed!

Then, it was an early night for us, yet again. My husband is really not well, so it does limit my options, but tonight, I will try to attend some of the events.

This morning, of course, I had room service delivered... Of course, I had completely forgotten that the clocks turned back an hour last night, so stupid me... "Where's my coffee?"

I did get my coffee, and watched the spectacular scenery unfold... It was very cold on the balcony, but I didn't care. I did see some sea otters early this morning... What a lovely start to my morning!

We should be docking in Juneau in about three hours... Then, it's on to Mendenhall Glacier.

I have to say, the crew, once again is absolutely fabulous, service impeccable.

I now have gotten my husband to admit that he now wants to plan for our next cruise, and that admission was very hard to come by, believe me! He loves to cruise, he just forgot how much until we got on the ship on Saturday!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Until later!

    Nina,

I was relieved to read this post. I have a friend that just recently sailed on the Crown. She told me the food was just OK and that the crew did not seem very happy. So I was very glad to read your post and hear your perspective. :D:D

    Thanks for sharing!!!

  4. Royal & Regal go to Europe, east coast & Caribbean and the 3rd Royal-class ship goes to Asia. Older west coast favorites like the Sapphire & Diamond go to Asia. Once again Princess shows they don't really care much about the west coast. :(

Yes, I am whining but it was very disappointing when Princess ignored the west coast again in favor of Asia...our "new" ships are always years old with the 8 year Ruby being our "new" ship.

I completely agree!!!!! Come on Princess -- give us one of the newer ships!:mad::mad::mad:

  5. Yikes - grad school is no joke! This is the longest it's ever taken me to finish a trip report, and I feel really bad leaving you all hanging and then continuing to revive this thread. But I will finish!!! (pssst.... if you visit my blog, Victoria On Vacation, you can read all the way through the end of the cruise... but I still haven't had the opportunity to post my end of cruise review and ship rating)

Just read Day 8!!! Awesome as always!!!! LOVE YOUR REVIEWS! :D:D

  6. Awesome thanks! I will make sure to take a lot of pictures on this trip because it seems that a lot of people ask about these rooms but there aren't a lot of pictures. My grandparents are in the Vista suite next to us so we will share our balconies and I will take pictures of that room as well.

Hey there!! What did you think of your cabin? Any noise? Other issues? Do you have any pictures?

    THANKS!

  7. we stayed in that room April 2014. Great room, no real noise.

Thank you so much for the quick response!! I was so worried. I expect noise from the wake and vibration when docking. I just don't want it to vibrate the entire time.

I was on a cruise once on the Diamond Princess and stayed in C746. It was above "white space" on the deck plans. The cabin vibrated all night every night for the entire week. That made for a miserable week of exhaustion!

  8. I realize this is an old thread but I have a question about D735......

Is this cabin noisy (with the exception of the wake)? I see that it is next to some ventilation panels and I am nervous about the noise and/or vibration. I am a light sleeper!

Thanks for any information you can provide.

  9. I think its the Royal/Regal that have the spinning bikes, these are the ones that my NYC studio uses.

That would make sense since it was the ships that had been recently renovated that had the new spinning bikes.

  10. Some of the ships have the "Spinning" bikes. You can use SPD shoes on these bikes. The other ships have different bikes that only have the cages. Unfortunately I can't remember which ships have the "Spinning" bikes.

You can't rent shoes with clips -- you have to bring your own.

  11. As a TA I got an email from Princess today. The new ship will be delivered in 2017.

The ship will be a sister ship to the Royal/Regal. It also says that "the ship will include some brand-new innovations to enhance the guest experience". More to come in the next few months.
