  1. When we got off last Sunday the "last call" for self-disembarkation was just before 8:15. I want to say that it started around 7:30, but I CAN'T(corrected!) tell you for sure. I am not sure if it was announced in the cabins as we were in the waiting area for Platinum guests - where I clearly heard 2-3 calls for final self-assists.

    Thanks!

    You are welcome!

  2. Hi Everyone!

I realize that there have been numerous threads about self-disembarking, but I have a few specific questions that I haven't found the answers to. What time do they start calling for self-disembarking? Also, is there a "last-call" time for that, or can you choose that option at any time? Finally, can you hear the announcement in your cabin, or do you need to be on deck?

I don't have an early flight, but we are driving to Disney for the day, and would like to get an early start.

    Thanks in advance!:)

  3. Anyone with an opinion (maybe tom and Cheryl)....How are the bars/clubs at night? We have done this itinerary on the Miracle in the past. We enjoyed the ports, but the night life was DEAD...All the bars were empty by 11:30-12:00. In contrast, the Valor was hopping at all hours...dance club, piano bar, live band ect. We are trying to decide between the Valor or Legend. The Legend is closer to us and is more affordable, but we do not want a repeat of the "Miracle experience" as far as nightlife. If anyone can compare the two, please let me know....Thanks:p

I would GUESS that they are similar - unfortunately I have spent an inordinate amount of time (and sometimes $) in the CASINO over many sailings...:o

We are going to try to sample a bit more of the other nightlife options IN SEVEN DAYS!!

  4. They can't be during Sailoff...The ship is not legally able to leave port until the Muster drill is complete. It's the law.

These are obviously laws with flexibility. We have been on a few sailings where we were underway prior to the completion of the drill. Additionally, I have read of a few instances where the muster drill is not until the next day - extenuating circumstances.

  5. BELIZE_ In Belize, we booked an excursion for Snorkeling with Stingrays, Sharks and the Coral Reef. It was awesome. This excursion was NOT booked through the ship. We booked it through Coral Breezes (http://www.coralbreezes.com) and they picked us up after we tendered from the ship to the city. The tender was only about 15 minutes, a very quick ride. The snorkeling excursion actually took us about 45 minutes to a small island Caye Caulker where we snorkeled about a mile from the island. Incredible! The stingrays and sharks were awesome, we even saw a Barracuda. After snorkeling we went back to the island and ate at a small outdoor cafe, very quaint. The food was very nice. We also spent $10 to rent a golf cart to drive around the island for an hour. There's only about 3 roads on the island, they are all sandy but it's a nice, small island and was very easy to get around in the golf cart. Some parts of the island are poor, but overall, the water is beautiful, the atmosphere is awesome, and the snorkeling was excellent.

    ...

    Happy sailing!

    Diane:) :) :)

We LOVED Coral Breeze (take the "s" off the above link, and you will find the site) when we first went on their excursion in 2003. That was when the owner (fellow from Boston) was on the tour with you. FREE BELIKIN BEER, and a great lunch. When we went again in 2005 it had gone downhill.

For my review of the cruise (AND CORAL BREEZE) follow this link.

Needless to say, we will never book with Coral Breeze again... If we had NOT seen what it WAS a couple of years prior, perhaps we would not have been so let down with our 2nd trip with them :(

  6. Hi keishashadow, i will be in cabin 4230 on the legend june 3. I will take a picture so you can see up it looks like.

Here are a couple of pictures of 4230 - our son and his friend were in this cabin when we sailed on the Legend in March. The open door you see at the far end of the cabin is the connecting door to 4228.

yes, there are alot of tables for two

    some good, some not

If I wanted to be alone, I would prefer the ones along the balcony railing on the second floor.

Here is a view from our two-topper - upper level (Table #415)

  7. Woo Hoo!! Well, my Mom thinks she will be okay with the 6 nights...now, we just have to check with my in-laws. Hopefully, the small balcony (on Fascination) will no longer be an issue, as we will be able to book the Liberty.

See, things often do work out!

Now if the skies would clear (WINDY and RAINY)... heading along the NE Cuba coast right now (Legend) then south to Panama. I looked at a satellite loop, and the area does not appear too large - hopefully tomorrow will be better!

  8. After studying your photos some more, I came to somewhat the same conclusion about that area of the Lido deck. The aethestics there underneath the V cabins seem to leave alot to be desired, at least in my book, and you're absolutely right.....leave the tarp in the Wal Mart bag with the receipt unless/until we need it! Great idea!

I will take photos and let you know how it goes. I may have to have some help POSTING them, but we'll cross that deck when we get to it!

    Muchas Gracias!

For what it's worth... I have read where some people who have attempted to string lights on their balcony for holidays (and others who have tied up various banners on their balconies) have been asked to take them down by Carnival - for, I suppose, reasons ranging from being a fire hazard to trying to keep the ship from looking like.. well.. "custom/rigged" (etc..) when viewed in port, or by other ships.

This is a picture of the Port side - V11 would be comparable (opposite side!) to the 6th cabin back that you see here. The stairs that you see are more of an issue for people in the forward most cabin or two. THOUGH ANYONE walking below on Lido deck can stare straight up at you. When we have walked on Lido deck there, it always feels odd walking right at peoples feet...

I would choose a cat 12 BIGTIME over an 11. ESPECIALLY on Fantasy class ships.

At least, that is what I would do!!!

  10. At the small chance anyone reads this and has sailed on the Sensation Cat 12 Port side (U102), feel free to offer up pics

I've only sailed once before, that was 3 months ago on NCLA Pride of Aloha, and that is very port intensive, so we took a 108 sq ft inside room

Now, I'm taking all 5 of us, so we booked cat 12.

    I'm thirsty for information again

Here are some pics from the Sensation U76 (since refurbishment):

  11. Here is a nice shot I was able to get of the Cat 11 balconies!

    106537884-L.jpg

It would seem that most are either obstructed (lifeboats) or are not very private. I don't think that I would book one of these. Walking below those cabins you are basically right at the feet of the people sitting out on their balcony, which appear smaller than Cat 8 balconies on other ships.

  12. We have sailed out of Tampa a few times. We always have the 5:45 dinner - and the one thing we miss is being up on deck watching the ship go under the bridge... I seem to recall it is usually somewhere in the appetizer/salad time period... so lets say a little after 6.. it really depends when the ship ACTUALLY pulls away...

You may be cutting it close - but good luck!

    Tom
