  1. Passengers- No comparison. No chaotic lines, no pushing and shoving from fellow pax. Pearl is full with only 1 empty stateroom this sailing to Bermuda Almost 3,000 on board including 400 children and it’s been very relaxing. Have not encountered one rude passenger. People are actually following the rules and waiting their turn at the bar and buffet. No over indulger’s drinking because it’s included. Another small thing that this ship is doing that MSC had problems with in January. NCL always has plenty of rolled silverware in a basket at every single table in the buffet and Great Escape buffet. They have a crew member going around to replenish it constantly. It seems like a silly thing to compare but on many occasions MSC ran out of clean utensils. It’s clear that this crew is treated very well. We have not encountered one crew member that hasn’t greeted us with a smile and welcome aboard! On MSC in January the poor crew was overwhelmed by the treatment they were receiving from rude pax. Of course the freestyle dining is second to none. I love that we can eat where we want whenever we want. I’ve missed that. Food is about the same as MSC…very good. Drinks are better. They reach for Grey Goose and and other higher end liquors without being told to. Bar service on deck A+ Bar service around the ship A Entertainment. Last evening a soloist in the theater with a full orchestra behind her. Haven’t seen that since HAL cruises. We love MSC and we really hope they start paying attention to the small things that make a world of difference. We are in a club balcony suite and have our grandson with us. I am doing a live review on the NCL boards if anyone is interested. Happy Easter!
  2. Thank you! We will definitely visit the aquarium maybe tomorrow if it’s rainy. We are so blessed right now. Sunny and warm on pool deck!
  3. One thing we loved about the show last night is they had a great orchestra behind the vocalist. Haven’t seen that since we were on HAL years ago. So far I don’t see a mention of NCL singers and dancers. Will try to find out today if they have that kind of entertainment on Pearl. IMG_7761.mov
  4. Today’s Freestyle. We’re staying on board today. Nice and warm so we’re enjoying the pool with less people around. Last night they had a great soloist. Two shows 7 & 9 we went to the late one and there were only about 100-150 people there. I felt bad for her but she did a great job keeping up her energy and great vocals too!
  5. Our MSC cruise was out of Miami to South America and other islands on the way. It was 14 days over the New Year’s holiday. We were told that there were only 10% American passengers on board with the rest from Europe and South America. People were very loud, pushy and straight out rude. They refused to wait in lines anywhere. In the buffet it wasn’t uncommon to have people roughly push in front to take what the entire line of people were waiting to take. After 14 days of being pushed and shoved cut in lines and have a man land on my back because his stupid girlfriend thought it was funny to push him into the pool while my back was turned, we couldn’t wait to get off. We’ve never felt like that before. That was our 3rd MSC cruise and we never had a problem before. The ships and crew are awesome. They were being shouted at all week by rude pax but they met that shouting with class and Grace. I don’t think I could do that in their shoes. Because it only cost us $90pp to add unlimited drinks and wifi so $180 for 14 days I feel they’re attracting the party crowd. They have recently updated that and now their drink packages are more in line with the other cruise lines. I hope it helps. I think MSC was undercutting pricing in the US market to fill their ships. For example we paid double for 7 days on this current cruise than we paid for 14 days on MSC and we don’t have a drink package this time. But I’d rather pay double and cruise with people who know what manners are. This cruise is sold out. Only 1 room is open yet we haven’t run into any of the problems we had with pax on MSC in January. It is a completely different vibe.
  6. We found the Easter bunny and we’re thinking he likes to play tricks on parents and grandparents. The Scavenger hunt took us to stations all over the ship. 4,000 steps later we found him in the Spinnaker lounge So while here I took some pics of the drink menu in Spinnaker Cloudy and humid in Bermuda. Ship is still waiting for clearance.
  7. Hi everyone and Happy Easter! Made it to Bermuda with no incidents and pretty calm seas. Last night the boat rocked a little but nothing major. I’ll try to answer all of your questions. Parking in Boston. We used Park Whiz and reserved a spot right at the Black Falcon terminal. It was $185 for the week. Very short walk to the ship and easy access. I will post MDR menus and drink menus later today. We didn’t buy a bev package as we don’t want to drink too much so we don’t lose our grandson🤪 We ordered an Old Fashion and a Cape Cod in Spinnaker the first night and it was $31 and change for those 2 drinks. We bought our own wine on and paid the corkage fee. The Easter egg scavenger hunt is starting I’ll be back!
  8. Hi! No masks required in Boston or anywhere on the ship. We’ve seen a couple of people wearing them.
  9. Those snacks lasted about 2 min and me and grandpa didn’t get any lol
  10. Hi unfortunately Splash Academy will be closed the 3 days we are in Bermuda. Last night, day 1 they were only open from 8-11pm and then after 11 it is $6 an hour until 1am It was at capacity when we tried to go @8:30 last. Went back around 10pm and Evan was able to get in. We have had a very smooth ride since leaving Boston yesterday. There’s some waves but nothing like some of our Bermuda cruises. The food has been very good in the buffet and MDR. The Paella at lunch yesterday was delicious. Service has been wonderful every place we’ve been. The crew seems very happy and we are always greeted with a smile. Fellow passengers are also great. Huge difference from our January cruise on MSC. We have not noticed any cut backs at all. In fact just the opposite. Everyone is so accommodating. We attended the Cruise Critic meet & mingle today in Bliss Lounge. We had very good attendance including senior officers who took some questions. It was nice to meet some fellow CC’ers in person. It is very windy and chilly outside it’s hard to sit on deck by the pool but nice and warm on our balcony so we are spending a lot of time out there. We’re in a Club Balcony Suite and just received snacks (pic below) Here is today’s Freestyle and a picture of the officers who came to the CC meet & mingle. Will post more once we get to Bermuda! Thanks for following along!
  11. That’s great news I like tail winds!! It’s like having a jet pack on! 😎
  12. Chilly and windy in Beantown right now but the boys are in the hottub! 400 kids on this sailing more than 500 next week(MA school break) Delicious paella for lunch!
  13. Good morning! Arrived at the Black Falcon cruise terminal at 10:30 and through security and sitting waiting to board by 11:05! MUCH smoother process than last year! We were told boarding will open soon! No matter how many cruises we’ve done we still get very excited at this point! Nothing like seeing the ship for the first time!
  14. Thanks everyone! @mking8288my grandson is very excited and hoping to spot some whales. We packed our binoculars and will be on the lookout!
  15. Will do! Last year there were so many on the beach when we were there.
  16. My (our) bags are packed, we’re ready to go I’m standing here outside your door….🎶 I’ve had that song in my head all day! 🙈 I’m looking forward to boarding the beautiful Pearl tomorrow with my husband and our 9 yr old grandson! We took him on this cruise last Easter too but we’re expecting a full ship this year. We live about 45 min south of Boston which is why we cruise to Bermuda as much as we do. You cannot beat not having to fly to a port! Our last cruise was over New Year’s on MSC Divina for 14 days and it was a not so pleasant experience. The ship and crew were great no complaints there…it was the hundreds of rude passengers that was hard to take for that many days. So back to Norwegian we come and we hope it’s a more positive experience. I hope you’ll follow along!(hopefully the internet will cooperate) Will be back in the morning to report on embarkation! ⚓️🛳️
  17. Thank you so much! Going to start my “live” thread now!😊
  18. Thank you! I will be starting my live review thread over on the NCL page tomorrow. We’re on the same page as I’ve packed the rain ponchos and umbrellas and hope I won’t need them. 🤞🙏🏻
  19. Any idea what the cutoff is as far as wind speed/gusts for a ship to be able to get through the channel?
  20. Great point! I was thinking of the channel to get to Hamilton! I feel better about that now. Thank you! We will definitely do our part in drinking those delicious rum swizzles 😉 and hoping to get some delicious fish chowder at a couple of restaurants as well!
