  1. Hi! No masks required in Boston or anywhere on the ship. We’ve seen a couple of people wearing them.
  2. Those snacks lasted about 2 min and me and grandpa didn’t get any lol
  3. Hi unfortunately Splash Academy will be closed the 3 days we are in Bermuda. Last night, day 1 they were only open from 8-11pm and then after 11 it is $6 an hour until 1am It was at capacity when we tried to go @8:30 last. Went back around 10pm and Evan was able to get in. We have had a very smooth ride since leaving Boston yesterday. There’s some waves but nothing like some of our Bermuda cruises. The food has been very good in the buffet and MDR. The Paella at lunch yesterday was delicious. Service has been wonderful every place we’ve been. The crew seems very happy and we are always greeted with a smile. Fellow passengers are also great. Huge difference from our January cruise on MSC. We have not noticed any cut backs at all. In fact just the opposite. Everyone is so accommodating. We attended the Cruise Critic meet & mingle today in Bliss Lounge. We had very good attendance including senior officers who took some questions. It was nice to meet some fellow CC’ers in person. It is very windy and chilly outside it’s hard to sit on deck by the pool but nice and warm on our balcony so we are spending a lot of time out there. We’re in a Club Balcony Suite and just received snacks (pic below) Here is today’s Freestyle and a picture of the officers who came to the CC meet & mingle. Will post more once we get to Bermuda! Thanks for following along!
  4. That’s great news I like tail winds!! It’s like having a jet pack on! 😎
  5. Chilly and windy in Beantown right now but the boys are in the hottub! 400 kids on this sailing more than 500 next week(MA school break) Delicious paella for lunch!
  6. Good morning! Arrived at the Black Falcon cruise terminal at 10:30 and through security and sitting waiting to board by 11:05! MUCH smoother process than last year! We were told boarding will open soon! No matter how many cruises we’ve done we still get very excited at this point! Nothing like seeing the ship for the first time!
  7. Thanks everyone! @mking8288my grandson is very excited and hoping to spot some whales. We packed our binoculars and will be on the lookout!
  8. Will do! Last year there were so many on the beach when we were there.
  9. My (our) bags are packed, we’re ready to go I’m standing here outside your door….🎶 I’ve had that song in my head all day! 🙈 I’m looking forward to boarding the beautiful Pearl tomorrow with my husband and our 9 yr old grandson! We took him on this cruise last Easter too but we’re expecting a full ship this year. We live about 45 min south of Boston which is why we cruise to Bermuda as much as we do. You cannot beat not having to fly to a port! Our last cruise was over New Year’s on MSC Divina for 14 days and it was a not so pleasant experience. The ship and crew were great no complaints there…it was the hundreds of rude passengers that was hard to take for that many days. So back to Norwegian we come and we hope it’s a more positive experience. I hope you’ll follow along!(hopefully the internet will cooperate) Will be back in the morning to report on embarkation! ⚓️🛳️
  10. Thank you so much! Going to start my “live” thread now!😊
  11. Thank you! I will be starting my live review thread over on the NCL page tomorrow. We’re on the same page as I’ve packed the rain ponchos and umbrellas and hope I won’t need them. 🤞🙏🏻
  12. Any idea what the cutoff is as far as wind speed/gusts for a ship to be able to get through the channel?
  13. Great point! I was thinking of the channel to get to Hamilton! I feel better about that now. Thank you! We will definitely do our part in drinking those delicious rum swizzles 😉 and hoping to get some delicious fish chowder at a couple of restaurants as well!
  14. Heading out on Pearl from Boston to Bermuda day after tomorrow. (04/07/2023) Looking at many websites the forecast is horrible all 3 days in port, however the thing that concerns me more than the clouds and rain is the wind forecast. We’ve done this cruise many times and haven’t had to deal with windy conditions…we’ve been very fortunate. Looks like our luck may be running out with this cruise. For those who follow the wind and waves forecast do you know what the minimum wind speed is for cruise ships to be able to make it through that channel and dock in Bermuda? Any insight is very much welcome! (Especially @mking8288) Thank you!
  15. From a fellow New Englander and B’s fan I’m so happy you had a great cruise and I’ve enjoyed following along! Thanks for taking the time to do this review!
  16. I’m 4 days from boarding Pearl again for our annual Boston to Bermuda cruise! Looks beautiful in Bermuda right now. I hope that continues! Thanks for posting! Tomorrow Prima and Pearl will be there together. I can’t wait to see Prima in person next Tuesday!
  17. Yes indeed our first Bermuda cruise was on the old Majesty from Boston. I believe she was around 37,000 tons. I made very good friends with our tiny inside room (student loans and 2 kids we were broke back then lol) I never remember feeling that sick. I like your wife didn’t see the light of day until we arrived in St George! Those were the days of docking in St George and Hamilton! Never heard of Dockyard/Kings Wharf back then. But like you guys all these years later we’re still cruising to Bermuda (and now taking our little grandson along with us) and funny that some now consider Pearl to be a small ship! I really appreciate and look forward to your contribution on my upcoming review!
  18. Correct it is also for authorization for medical care/cost associated with care by ship’s physician. A separate form is needed for medical care authorization in a port.
  19. We used this form last year when we took our 9 yr old grandson on the Pearl to Bermuda. I would have your MIL put her name on the form along with you and your husband. Ultimately if your daughter’s friend is God forbid injured or becomes I’ll you guys have permission to authorize medical attention. This is why I would include all of your names on the form. Your MIL may not want to be completely responsible for that. The form is really only checked when you check in at the terminal for the cruise and get your cruise cards. We did carry it with us in Bermuda in case something happened but we were never asked to show it when we went back to the ship. The officials at the terminal in Bermuda did ask everyone to show their government issued photo ID’s for adults and those under 17 needed to show a birth certificate along with our cruise cards when returning to the ship. We are going again this coming Friday with our grandson and if anything has changed I’ll be updating the process in my live review that I plan to do here.
  20. I will be doing a “Live from Pearl” review starting this coming Friday the 7th. Would love for you to join the thread and share your very helpful forecast for our ride down to Bermuda! I’ll start it on Thursday night!
  21. I politely completely disagree. April is our favorite time to cruise/fly to Bermuda. We always have great beach weather. Our first cruise to Bermuda was in July in the 90’s and we had the worse seas…it’s also hurricane season. We had a family member get married in Bermuda in May 2018 and we all nearly melted in our wedding attire.
  22. Oh no I’m so sorry you had a bad experience. I would never recommend a Bermuda cruise to someone who has never been on a cruise. It is notoriously a rough ride. I remember our first cruise to Bermuda in the 1990’s. We had our children who were 7 and 6 at the time and I was deathly sick the entire ride down. Honestly if the doctor could have given me a shot to knock me out I would have taken it. It was horrible. We considered flying home and not taking the ship back to Boston but the crew assured me the forecast was better going back. It was better but not much lol Having said that we are going on our 12th Bermuda cruise this coming Friday. I’ve gotten used to the rough ride and I am prepared with meds if I get sick. It’s now one of our favorite cruises to go on. I really want to try Prima but I’m not liking what I’m reading about it. Thank you for your honest review and I hope your electricity comes back soon!
