  1. A HUGE thanks to all of you..your words of wisdom & encouragement. I shall attempt to let go of those fears & press forward. Hubby & I handle large trucking claims & look at crumpled metal all day from horrific accidents, yet I do not fear the highways.....I truly am looking forward to our cruise & have already set up our STEP accounts. Thank you for the info re: Budapest's market & Parliment bldg. We are going in 2 days early so we shall put it on the agenda.

    CC people rock!!

  2. Hey there, river cruises,

Hubby and I are doing our 1st Viking cruise...originally we planned on Paris to Normandy, then due to the chaos, transferred our payment to Budapest to Nuremberg, Germany. I have seen NOTHING on this board re: fear of traveling into Europe with all the unrest. Is it just us, being European virgin travelers??? does anyone out there have concerns???? Please don't tell me that "if we stop traveling, they win" that does not calm my nerves......

  3. we are booked for our 1st Viking River Cruise Paris>>>Normandy....we are already excited to book another. we would love to see Italy......plz help me understand why there are NO river cruises in Italy???? thx all

  4. Shippy....funny that you should post this....After cruising in October, we finally had our credits applied yesterday. It took 5 follow up emails to resolve this. I finally sent them a copy/paste of my reservation that shows an outstanding balance. since we paid off our part, the outstanding amount was the amount the Club Royale owed us. Last payment due by 12/23. I told them I did not want to run into the issue of them cancelling our cruise, or worse yet, getting to check & being told we have no reservation. I would perhaps write a stronger, yet polite, email to them.

  5. we do not cruise until August, but it will take me that long to "get it together" I have two questions:

    1) this is the longest flight I have ever booked...Cleveland OH to paris.

Has anyone found a travel pillow that they really like?

    2) what type of a adapter/convertor will I need for my IPOD/camera charger?

    Thank you for your help!!

  6. I am so sorry that I confused everyone. We are used to ocean cruises....sail from Miami.....return to Miami.

We have RT airfare arranged by the Viking.

My question is....once we travel down river from Paris>Normandy....

how do we get back to the airport for departure? does the ship go back up the river? or do they take you from taxi/bus, driven back to the airport?

  7. We are booked for the Viking River Paris to Normandy trip in August. This is our 1st river cruise and we are excited. We have done 23 ocean cruises, but are looking forward to a change. I hope you don't think this is a silly question, but once we come to the end of our cruise in Normandy....how do we get back to the airport???? do we go back up the river? or take a bus? Thank you everyone

  8. we are spending 3 days in PR, prior to cruising. We have done Old San Juan, and El Morro....can you recommend other sites to visit...also, can you provide the names of tour companies that you have been pleased with?? thx

  9. 1st time river cruiser here again: When ocean cruising we always book a portside room. Does it matter with the river cruises? I would imagine you could always go topside...but we are paying for a balcony, so we would love to be able to sit there and enjoy the sites. All opinions are recommended......also, what is up with this "pump" that folks complain about, running at nite & making noise? We will be booking the Rinda...what do you feel is a nice Cat D room? thanks everyone:)

  10. We are used to traveling on RC, large cruise ships, mostly to the carib. We have a river cruise currently on hold.....Viking Rinda, Veranda Balcony, Paris>Normandy, in November. Now I am becoming concerned re: the weather, as we would like to sit on our balcony & up on deck. I have the options of Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov, I know the price will go up...but are your opinions? Also, what will I find very different from ocean cruising??? thanks to all

  11. hi folks, we are D+ RC travelers, mainly with Carib cruises. Now that we are both retired (yeah) we are looking to branch out to Europe. Looking to do a 8-9 day cruise anywhere....but curious as to which port would be the easiest and most reasonable to cruise from? england? barcelona? venice? any and all suggestions and opinions are welcome...as always, thank you for your input:)

  12. I really enjoyed your review and ratings re: your trips......You indicated that you received a "free" promotional trip via NCL & a casino, however, I did not notice any review of the casinos. I would be interested in your opinion on both, if you have one. My spouse and I are Diamond members at Harrahs, which offers specials via NCL. We are also members of RC's Club Royale. We are aware that the program will be changing as of 3/2015 with regards to comps. We are trying to determine if we should "jump ship" so to speak & see if our offers will be better with the NCL/Harrahs partnership. (RC is connected with M Life, but we do not play at their casinos) Thank you for your time & thoughts

  13. We just returned from the FOS...3 days prior to cruising, my phone rang, I saw RC on caller ID....my heart started to race.....the RC rep offered us an upgrade to an Owners Suite (we were in a JS) for "only" $750.....we passed on it.

on ship, anyone who used a slot machine was put into a drawing & on the 2nd nite they drew a name & gave the OS away.....so I think this is the new thinking.

  14. good afternoon everyone.

my hubby LOVES having lox/bagel/cream cheese every morning.

on our last cruise via the GOS, those items were in the back by the Solarium Snack bar......we are leaving for the FOS next week....can anyone tell me if they saw the lox & where it was? also did you see capers with it...thx all....seems a silly question, but it is important to my hubby

  15. Greetings to all

Thru cruise critic suggestions we have done Nachi Cocum and just recently, the British Colonial Hilton at Nassau. We will be visiting Gr. Cayman soon. Does anyone know of any of the nicer hotels offer an all inclusive day.....beach, food, drinks, transportation etc? I have checked the cruise excurions but could not locate any. thank you~~:)
