For those of us on this Thanksgiving cruise, join in - over on the Roll Call thread.

I am not a fan of the sideways cabins. We booked one on the Regal after reading such great reviews of them, but we did not care for it at all. Never again. Instead of having space when you enter and go in, like with a regular inside cabin, you open the door and bam! there are the beds. Did not feel like there was more space at all. You couldn't have the dresser drawer pulled out and open, if someone was entering the cabin at the same time. And, from what I can remember, there was an issue with the bathroom door not opening properly or all the way (can't remember which) due to such a tiny space in front of the closet.

The tiles are typically given at the Mariner lunch, but you can request one at the Front Desk.
We sailed with HAL several times, but it was many years ago. I seem to have forgotten a lot of things!
How does the Mariner Welcome Onboard lunch work? I don't believe we ever went to one. Is it the first day? Is it a specific time or do you just show up during certain hours?
And, is there a Mariner Brunch or is that the same thing?
Thanks in advance!

We'll be on the Nieuw Amsterdam for Thanksgiving week and will be in the MDR only for the two gala nights. If we wanted to dine at 6:30 PM those two evenings, when can we make the reservations?
Can't answer your question, but we'll be on the same cruise! See you soon!

Great review and pictures!
Do you happen to remember what some of the drinks of the day were?

No you can’t.
All the charges are manual so the drinks have to be charged to your room.Ok, thanks for that info.

We will be sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam soon. Do they have a drink of the day?
What types of drinks are they? And, what is the cost?
Thanks in advance.

I already explained above. I made a mistake and posted this question on the wrong thread. (Should have been on a HAL thread.) Again, I am sorry.....
We are cruising on the Island this coming Christmas.

We also have a regular "beverage card" as a perk.
How do tips work with the beverage card? Are the tips automatically deducted from the card or do you leave cash?

I think the poster asking about Orange Party is a little confused, this thread is regarding a live from the Island Princess. Holland America ships are known for having an 'Orange Party' as it is one of Dutch national colors.
Sorry! We are booked on HAL for Thanksgiving and the Island for Christmas and I got confused about which thread I was on. Oops!

What night was the Orange Party?

Are there public restrooms in Key West?
-
Oh no. Looks like we will be docked at the Outer Mole pier on 11/24/19 on the Nieuw Amsterdam.
Will it be a hassle getting off the ship an waiting for a shuttle??

Will I be able to leave magazines (mostly People magazines) when I finish reading them? Or, is that a no-no?
