Yes, it was a very quiet location. I never heard any noise from the casino or the atrium. The only downside was occasionally when we were in port and they closed the access to the atrium, rerouting us through the casino.

I was just going to ask about noise from the casino!  Glad to hear there wasn't any noise.

When we started cruising with Princess in 2006, the Caribbean itineraries included a stop at Princess Cays and it was always the last day of the cruise.  My wife loved that, could get out in the ocean while on the cruise (without taking an excursion at another port).  For the last few years all of the itineraries we have booked have Princess Cays as the first stop.  Any idea why that is?

Dh and I were just wondering the same thing.

  3. Thanks again everybody for the replies and info!  Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

We may try the Elite lounge for our upcoming cruise.  Although, as I mentioned in my original post, twice (most recent was last month on the Caribbean Princess) we showed up at the Elite spot and we were told by the Captain Circle host that it would be quicker to go to the dining room.  Huh?  Very confusing!

The lounge is a joke. Everybody and their brother comes in.

    Crowded and noisy.

The entryway is blocked by those wanting to be "first out".🙄

We stopped going shortly after it was created.

That sounds exactly the dining room situation!  :-)

  5. Thanks for the replies.

Interesting to read how crowded the Elite disembarkation lounge is.  (We are always in the 1st walk-off group, so maybe it wouldn't be too bad?)

Because going to the dining room to wait is very crowded, and people are all crazy trying to be the first ones off.  I really hate the whole set-up of waiting in the dining room.  So, I was hoping the Elite spot would be better.

  6. We are Elite, and we always do an early walk-off.  This means going to a designated dining room to wait to be called.  We have attempted to go to the Elite Disembarkation Lounge a couple of times instead of the dining room, but we are always told that it would be faster to go to the dining room and wait to be called from there.  Has anyone actually waited in the Elite Disembarkation spot??  What are the advantages/disadvantages?

  7. Recently sailed the Western Caribbean (May 25 - June 1) on the Caribbean Princess. No escargot all week, not even on formal nights! Asked the waiter for escargot on the second formal night - his reply: "We stopped serving escargot because the price has tripled!"

This was our 19th cruise with Princess, and the only one that didn't have escargot on the menu on the second formal night! I remember a few cruises back when everyone at a nearby table for 6 ordered escargot every night, even when it was not listed on the printed menu. Times have changed!

Not sure if this has already been asked and answered.  I am on the Crown (British Isles July 24) which is the first medallion cruise for the Crown.  I am travelling with my parents who do not have cellphones.  Will the Patter still be delivered to your stateroom or is it only on one of the Apps?

Patter is still delivered to stateroom.  We always ask for 2 daily to be delivered, as dh and I like to have our own.

As you face the window, the head of the bed(s) will be against wall to your left. Because it is so in E711 and switches mirror image every-other room. If you google "Caribbean Princess E711 pictures" you can see at least thumbnails of a room laid out the same as E707. If you join cruisedeckplans.com you can see the full sized pictures.

Thanks for the info!  I just did a Google search on E711 as you suggested and it really helped!  Much appreciated.

  10. Medallions arrived today for our upcoming Caribbean Princess cruise sailing from Fort Lauderdale.

We have been on 2 previous Medallion cruises.  But we did not get the medallions delivered - we got them when we checked in at the port.

This time, not sure what having the medallions ahead of time will mean when we arrive at the port.  We usually arrive early, check in at one of the counters, and are given a # to enter the Platinum/Elite lounge to await embarkation.  What will be different?

Bed will be on the side wall.  If it was a quad cabin, the beds would be under the window with bunks on side walls.  But since it is not a quad, beds will be on side wall.  EM

    Thank you!  Much appreciated.

If they were under the window I prefer the twin set-up.  But, on the side wall we request the queen set-up.

  12. In obstructed view cabin E707 on the Caribbean Princess - where is the bed located?

The Princess deck plan shows it under the window.  But, I have seen obstructed view cabin pictures where the bed is against the side wall (as it is with a balcony cabin).

Can anyone verify the bed location?

    Thanks!
