  1. Many people book a night at the Comfort Inn right next door to Atlantis - your stay includes full privileges of the recreational facilities at Atlantis.

Yes, I've done this several times.

    Works great!!!

  2. Get them quickly while you can. Finally snagged what I needed for this next cruise in June. Big shout out goes to angela12345 who previously shared her success with obtaining these cards in post #495. It went exactly as you described to the detail and it made the process much easier to endure. Can you believe all of this for gift cards??:D But good luck to anyone else this morning. Happy Sailing to all!!

    THANKS CHEERMOM & ANGELA!!!

    YOU ROCK!!! 😃

I got $2500 for my Decemer Pride cruise!!

    I'M SO HAPPY!!!

Btw, last time I got e-certificates which worked great!

Again, other than these have to be mailed to me, what's the difference?

    Thanks again!

  3. I have read that there is an area to do a little snorkeling for beginners. We are planning on going there on our cruise in a few weeks with DS 6. How far out to you have to go to see something? How deep is it? I know we probably wont see a lot, but I think he would like to see a fish or two.

    Hi -

In September I did my first snorkeling there at the Melia and I loved it. I am not a great swimmer so I am not very comfortable in water where I cannot stand, so I was thrilled that I could go out to not even chest-high water and see lots of fishies. It was big fun for me. I think it's a great place for beginners...

  4. We just returned from our vacation, where we booked a room through the Comfort Inn & Suites, rather than booking through the cruise line to gain access to the Atlantis.

We arrived shortly before 9 AM. The staff at the desk couldn't have been more accommodating. Upon check-in, I received a discount as a AAA member, which brought the price of the room to $380 (I believe), but it was definitely under $400. Carnival wanted $179 per adult, and $149 per child. You do the math. Once we paid for our room, we were sent across the street to the Atlantis with our paperwork. This is the hardest part of the process. We had never been here before, and the place is massive. After being told by 3 different Atlantis employees to go to the wrong place, we finally made our way to the correct location. We had to wait in line to get our wrist bands. While we waited, the kids went and started gawking at the fish, which is the beginning of the Big Dig. Once we got our wrist bands, we were free to explore the Atlantis in it's entirety!

We left the Atlantis around 6 PM and went back to the hotel. We had a beer at the pool while the kids swam. We then went back to our room, showered and changes, and caught a cab back to the ship.

This is a great option. Do it without hesitation!

Yes, I've done it several times. I see where most people take advantage of the Atlantis pass but skip using the room. We, like you did, always use the room to shower and change, and DH loves to relax and catch up on tv/sports while teens and I have fun doing Atlantis water stuff!!

Btw, it's even more fun when you save CHOICEHOTEL POINTS, and get it all for free!!

  5. My husband and I are going back and forth between the BCH and Melia hotel.

We have two teens that are active and we are looking for a nice beach. I have read the reviews I am leaning toward the BCH because of how close it is to the ship. If the beach is nicer at the other hotel I would prefer that. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

Hi - I have the same dilemma... I have done them both and really enjoyed. Most recently, my sis and I did the Melia via Jitney. It worked great and we loved the beach and I snorkeled for the first time - loved it. However, in May I'm thinking of doing BCH because DH would prefer to be closer to the ship and not have the longer walks via the Jitney. But I guess we could just cab it... WHAT TO DO?

BTW, I think your teens might prefer the more activities of the MELIA.

Has anyone ever done that big water tricycle thingy?? It looks fun and is included in the day pass.

  6. Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel? We don't need to be near the port. Since we are really only sleeping in the hotel, proximity to the beach or other sights isn't a concern. A pool and breakfast incl. are a plus, but not necessary.

I work in a school, so I am unable to take Friday off from work. Our group will probably fly down early Friday. I will have to pay through the nose to fly down Friday evening and join them. We always fly Southwest, so we will be flying in/out of FLL for our Miami cruise. Since I will most likely be joining the group rather late Friday, I think staying in FLL is the best route. Then we can all travel to POM in the morning together.

Also, is it easier to just take a cab(s) from a FLL hotel to the port of Miami, or are the shuttle services better?

    Hi Kristi -

Thanks for asking. I'm trying to figure the same thing. For the first time we are flying into FLL. We arrive at 9:30 PM and wonder too if we should go on to Miami for the night, or stay in FLL and go to POM in the morning.

I think taking a cab will be pricey, but if you have a group, I wonder if a cab is less than a shuttle which I think is about $15 per person. I have used SAS for one way from POM to FLL and it went well.

Hope someone will share what worked for them.

  7. So much fun!!! I did a surprise cruise for my husband. He thought we were going to Baltimore Harbor for a getaway weekend (we live about an hour away). He usually does all the driving, but I told him to put his seat back and relax while I drove. He was absolutely surprised when I pulled onto the cruise parking lot and he heard the parking attendant saying "are you checking your baggage or carrying it on"... He sat up, opened his eyes, and there before him was THE CARNIVAL PRIDE!! IT WAS BIG FUN!

Hope your parents enjoy their surprise!

I'm looking to book a cruise next November as a surprise for my parents and let them know about it this June for their anniversary. I would also like to take advantage of the sale and reduced deposits now. Is it possible for me to book/pay on the cruise with their info without it showing up when they log in? I'm sure this has been done, but don't want to be completely in the dark when I call Carnival. Thanks!
  8. So sorry...

But wondering if they had had another family member or friend who could have gone on short notice, would Carnival generally allow for a last minute substitute? Has anyone had that happen?

Carnival won't refund anything including taxes or gov fees because since she was the 2nd person in the cabin, that made my son a solo passenger and he absorbed the cost :( We normally purchase the insurance, but with the holidays time just slipped away from me. Live and learn.
  9. Dec 21 we are staying at JW Marriott Miami, finally using Marriott points. Any local restaurant suggestions? Anything else in the area, we might take taxi to South Beach.

We have reservations elsewhere, but are thinking of doing the same thing - i.e. booking here to use our MARRIOTT POINTS...

ANY IDEA HOW MUCH IS A CAB RIDE TO POM? THX!

  10. So many travel documents! For us we have print outs for:

PASSPORTS, TRAIN TICKETS/INFO, HOTEL CONFS, SHUTTLE SERVICE INFO, CRUISE BOARDING PASSES, SHIP INFO, E-GIFT CERTIFICATES, EXCURSIONS INFO, PORT CITIES INFO, AIRLINE HOME, etc.

How do you organize your travel stuff?

Do you use A FOLDER, A NOTEBOOK, TABS, SPREADSHEETS?

Would love to hear what works best for you! Thanks!

  11. Sailed with him four times now (out of ten CCL cruises), would go out of my way to cruise with him again, and am VERY disappointed that he's on vacation while we're on the Breeze next month!

    Enjoy, he's definitely a memorable CD :)

Love all the wonderful comments about Matt!! When does he leave the Breeze???? Fingers crossed that it's NOT BEFORE 11/8 Sailing???

  12. We have 12033 booked for Saturday! Only a few more days! If are are specific things you would like to know, ask, I will find out and get back to you June 2nd.

    Hi BeachBride -

I know it's been a while, but we have Cabin 12033 on the Breeze a month from today (11/08)- WOW! Any insights (or pics) you can share? Hope you enjoyed it!

    Thanks much!

  13. Good Question!

My husband is a veteran and as I am reading your post, I realize we will be sailing on Veterans Day. I hope there will be a meet up and/or some recognition. That would be nice! Last December on The Pride there was a gathering listed. My husband and 2 other vets had a nice chat.

  14. We really enjoyed that pool when we were on the Breeze last year. We were in Key West and it was pouring rain so we decided to stay on the boat and hit the therapeutic pool. Man, with the jets on the water is so warm and relaxing that you feel like you can just fall asleep right in it! :):D

    Sounds wonderful!!

    How deep is it?
