  1. I never said it takes me all day to pack and all day to unpack.  For me, it is knowing that I have to pack (I use packing cubes, btw) and the fact that stuff is in my suitcase that evening and maybe it's harder to get to something I want...and then I'm a person who is not "on vacation" until every stinkin' thing is unpacked and in its proper place.  I also hate the fact that I don't have immediate access to the new room because it needs to be cleaned, just like for an embarking guest.  It's the whole thought process, so yeah, for ME it is a loss of two days.

We are in a ocean view with large square window on deck 4 right off the R Bar.  First time for that category for us.  Really curious about how we will like it.  In years past we have found we use the balcony less and less, last couple cruises hardly any...so we though it might be nice to just look out at the water without have to open those heavy sliding doors and the heat etc.  Anyways, we'll let you know how we liked it.  Grandeur also has an ocean view cabin in center of ship with floor to ceiling windows only , no balcony that I would like to try as well, decks 7 & 8.

Love the large ocean views (bottom left photo) in the center of the ship on 7 and 8.  Pretty much the size of a Jr. suite but without the balcony and a great location!  If you are someone who goes to sleep early, if possible, don't book the "edge" cabins as you will hear some of the music from the Centrum.  The middle cabins are very quiet on Deck 7.  On 8, as with any cabin on deck 8, you will hear noise from the pool deck above. Still worth booking these beauties...and they will have a small fridge/cooler in these cabins, just like the balcony and above cabins do.

We were on her for a 4 night back in May and I really enjoyed the "classic" nature and small size. We've done every class below Quantum, even the Majesty and long retired Empress OTS when she was still the Nordic Empress.

OMG, our first and second cruises 30 years ago were on the Nordic Empress...nice to hear that reference as it brings back such wonderful memories. 😎

  4. A few months ago my DH had twisted his back the day before so we weren't able to go on our sold-out catamaran excursion that morning...I stood in line and cancelled for the two of us.  I didn't ask for (nor expect) a reimbursement since it was the same day, but I didn't want them waiting for us/expecting us and holding everyone else up, and I really hoped that someone else could take advantage of that excursion.  I would say, ask at Shore Excursions every day, even the morning of the excursion...I sure hope someone asked the day we cancelled!

  5. To the OP...you do NOT need a Dr's note.  My husband doesn't drink.  I do.  I call.  I tell them that I want to buy the DX pkg, that my husband doesn't drink because of medication he is on and that my understanding is that my husband will then be required to buy the Refreshment pkg.  I have never had any kind of issue. No one has ever asked for any kind of documentation.

Husband doesn't drink sodas, but he does like the bottled water and, because he has the pkg, he enjoys the  freshly squeezed OJ and he will occasionally get a specialty coffee.  That's it.  Don't worry about needing any kind of Dr's note...totally not necessary.  Enjoy your cruise.

I read once, if you have an inside cabin set your TV to the on deck camera.  At night it will be dark and in the morning, as the sun rises, the tv picture does as well, lighting up the room!  I have never had an inside to try it out yet tho.

We sat at breakfast once, years ago, with some Pinnacles who said they pretty much lived on the ship,  they always sailed in inside cabins and that is exactly what they did!  HAHA, since I've been known to sleep past breakfast hours, I will not be trying this...ever! 😝

Yellow line on pier= don’t cross it. Get out of the way of the shuttles (I think one honk and accelerate should be acceptable).

I am most bothered by any person that mistreats the staff- they did not cause your problem and are not paid enough to take your verbal assaults. First timer or pinnacle, interior or suite, 20 or 80- doesn’t matter… the world does not owe you perfection. The young person working that desk from war torn Ukraine, that sweet guy that is missing his family from the Philippines serving you, and that awesome Grandma from the Bahamas that is working to send money home for their grandkids’ school uniforms are ALL on your side- they want you to be happy! Treat them with kindness and respect!

    THAT!  Thank you.

OK. I just have to know now. What loud music would be acceptable?

For me it would be anything from the Beatles, The Guess Who, or Burton Cummings. I'd have to accept lots of country crap because Mrs. Dawg likes songs about truckers and beer and truckers who love beer and truckers whose beer has left them for another trucker and whatever else they sing about.   🙂

Good point.  Nothing.  Nothing is acceptable.  I'm on my balcony in "my" space and I don't care what music you are playing, even if it is something I generally would listen to, it is just wrong to play your music for others to hear.  Put on your headset or earbuds or whatever and don't subject others to your "stuff".

  9. Yeah, I've seen both...people in scooters that try to fit when it is already a full elevator...but more annoying to me is people who won't make room for a scooter.  Seriously, I just get off if I'm in the front so that they can get on.  You wait and wait for the elevators...at least I have the option (HAHA, except that I'm too lazy 😝) to take the stairs.  These people can't take the stairs and I'm just horrified when they've been sitting there at the elevator waiting, waiting and then an elevator opens and all of these able-bodied people (who arrived later) push in front of them to get on the elevator.  It's just wrong.

A group of very rude people had a boombox blasting in the water at Labadee last week.  Then the next day, a different person walked through the solarium with his blasting, all the way into the Windjammer where my SO was having lunch, so he could also enjoy it 🙄

Like sitting on the balcony of my condo...and listening to someone else's choice of VERY LOUD music!  Ugh.  It is just SO wrong!!!

  11. Would really appreciate any insight on this.  I am part of a large group of seniors (50 or more) that are going on a cruise out of Baltimore on a Vision-class ship.  While the majority will have cell phones and can probably figure out how to manage things on-line, some don't even own cell phones and some have flip phones.  How will they do their check-in and their muster drill?  I've only done these on-line for the past few years so I don't have any idea how to answer these questions, but I would like to be as helpful as possible. As always, I turn to CC for the best info!

Thanks in advance for your help.
