  1. I just seen your post and I was wondering if you have already cruised and decided to go here? If so, could you provide feedback. If not, we are planning on going there while in port 11/12 and will let you know what we discover upon our return.

Please do let us know if John's Ocean View Bar and Edith's Fish Fry is open for business. I understand that they lost everything due to hurricane IRMA. Many thanks for any information on their current situation. We've visited them each time we've been to Grand Turk and enjoyed it each time. Wonderful business and delicious food.

  2. Princess won’t have any ship in the Caribbean for another week or two so, no, Princess has no way to take supplies to the Caribbean unless they put wings and giant propellers on ships. However, Carnival Corporation and the Arison family have donated $10,000,000 for relief. I know some people on other forums have criticized Princess for not doing anything and that $10M was too paltry. I disagree. Amazing how the media can influence impressions and manipulate facts.

Thank you, Pam, for the informative and non condensational response. For those of us not familiar with Princess's ships location during certain seasons is a learning experience. As a coincidence I received this information today about my current booking from Princess:

"We look forward to continuing to provide the great cruise experience and the economic support from cruising that the region relies on, now more than ever.

Along with our parent company, Carnival Corporation, we have been in communication with officials in the many of Caribbean islands and have activated a plan to begin delivery of supplies on both and immediate and sustained, longer-term basis as part of our cruise itineraries."

  3. Unlike Royal Caribbean which has a number of ships in the Caribbean on a year round basis, I don't think Princess has a ship in the Caribbean right now. This would be a better question on the Carnival Boards!

Indeed. Will do. And thank you for your ! It really makes a schooled point.

  4. No. There should be a voucher in your cabin. You will need to call Room Service to have the gin delivered. You can take as much tonic aboard as you like. No restrictions on that.

Thanks, Thrak. First time ordering a bottle for our room with Princess. Glad to know about the voucher. HAL always has the bottle in the room when you board. And I'm glad to know I can bring our own tonic, like HAL.

    Thanks again.

  5. I, too, did not get double points for my last Princess Cruise purchase. On the points statement under "earned" is one point for each dollar and then in the adjustment column there is a small amount which is included in the total points but not equal to double points. I phoned and was told my concern was being sent to the appropriate department and would be adjusted within 5-10 business days. Am I just beginning the run around that so many of you have been experiencing?

  6. Grand Turk has a population of around 4000 locals. If there were individuals running around mugging tourists, wouldn't it be safe to presume that they wouldn't last very long with that kind of activity on such a small island with nowhere to hide?

I would recommend doing a web search about safety in various ports-of-call. It can provide valuable information and/or excessive paranoia depending on how one chooses to receive it.

Random violence may occur anywhere in the world. The chances of it happening in a place like Grand Turk to a cruise tourist is much much less likely than the embarkation U.S. port from whence the ship arrived.

If you want to really get away from the major crowds, look into Pillory Beach as an option. While there will be a handful of people there(mostly those staying at the Bohio (boutique) Resort, it is much less crowded than the main beach near where the ships dock. Taxis are fairly cheap in GT(set rate per zones).

After some time at Pillory one can walk into Cockburn Town and grab a bite to eat. I recommend John's Oceanside Grill. The appearance may seem a little rustic, but the fried fish and conch fritters are super tasty, the Turk's Head beer is ice cold, and it's all very reasonable priced.

We, too, second eating at John's Ocean View Bar and Edith's Fish Fry Check out the reviews on Trip Advisor
