Food is subjective, as everyone knows, but what are your opinions?
-
I would say, yes. And more importantly, your point?
you know, it is people like you who drive away people like me from posting on CC by belittling comments like yours: "your point?" IMO you're a person trying to keep new cruisers like me from posting. Well done, AH
My point is booking with a non-refundable deposit guarantees the cabin you choose and many new cruisers may not take that into consideration.

I do not understand some of the wringing of hands and knashing of teeth.
Simply do what the poster above did. View the options, pick one, and go with it. HAL is not going to give you a dicount for selecting non refundable and then give you another by permitting a re-price. No mystery or trickery to this whatsoever.
And you've most likely booked the cabin of your choice.

looks to be a scam. Russians or chinese getting your info.

Three cruises with HAL and fourth booked. Holland America is just a tad bit above in service, execution and delivery of the CCL product. As a gay couple, on all three of our HAL experiences, there hasn't been a single issue either from staff or fellow travelers. Should you decide to book, there is always a printed schedule of LGBTQ get-to-gethers. Have fun!

Should you also have a credit card(s) with a high limit(s) of credit to pay for the medical services provided on the spot?

We too are on the Oosterdam in October and curious as to the size of this group. Is it likely they will detract from our experience?
Kathy
And found this but still no indication of the number of participants.
-
Does anyone know how big a group it is? We are on the Oosterdam from 10/15 to 11/10 this fall
so would be interested in finding ot.
Nan
Not sure of the size but I did find this: Oosterdam : 27 October 2018 – 10 November 2018 : T.A. repo : Bridge group. From this post: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2617628&highlight=groups+charter+dry+dock

oops....had to clear history and cookies in all browsers to get to this "old site". HAL's IT department must be aware of this problem. Oh well for people who don't know about CC and all the great information here, it must be frustrating.
thanks Carole for the link.

If you go to the thread that tell you how to find the old website, that may help you.
Thanks, Strath. I found this posted today and used the url and got the same, I assume, to be the new website and they do not have an area to purchase single bottles of anything anywhere. Only suggestions and those are packages. I've included the post I found suggesting the "old website address".
Ihad to reboot my iPad today, it froze and also decided to clear history (and probably cookies went with that) and that is when I "experienced" the new HAL site with the spinning circle of doom. I was looking up a specific cruise month and ship, and there were 2 results - BUT I could have gone on the cruise and been back home before that spinning circle would stop :D
I went to the chat section and the advice to get the OLD SITE (which THEY USE)is
http://www.hollandamerica.com?ASCookie=RSOrigin
So then I dropped the question, oh so you use the old site still also! Hmmm, interesting - what message should that send to us!
Anyway I hope this info helps some of those who were struggling with the new site - Sail comes to mind, but I am sure there are others.

Would someone help me navigate where you can purchase single bottles of spirits on the website for in room consumption? Currently, on my computer, under Indulgences, I see no where to order. Many thanks in advance.

For an authentic fried conch and fish experience check out https://www.facebook.com/Johns-Ocean-View-Bar-and-Ediths-Fish-Fry-1412814465633558/ Also $3.00 ice cold beer. We've been there every time we're in Grand Turk. Just take a taxi from the port to downtown Cockburn town and it's just a very short walk from where they let you off. Swimming is good, food is good the owners are great!

Once you've determined the table you'd like to have contact ship services 1-800-541-1576 (M-F 7am - 5pm PST) to make your requests. They are not always granted but it might help.
-
Cpt Albert says they are assigned other/additional duties on the ship.
Nice to know. Thanks.

Strange not seeing waving pax on E!
It is. I was wondering where most of the crew go during dry dock.

Ready Set Sail promotions scheduled to roll out tomorrow!

December 2017, Crown, two-top, two butter balls. Ha! Thanks for the report on butter ball size reduction. Super important! Darn those bean counters.

Anyone have experience with day passes at Punta Cana Resort hotels? Many thanks in advance.

Are there many 2 person tables in the main dining room on the Koningsdam?
Pepe, check out table 219. We requested it prior to our ten days on the K'dam. Super nice location with great view of the downstairs dining room.
Rudi's Sel de Mer?
in Holland America Line

additional question
Thanks to all of you for noting your experiences. Very helpful. If I may ask what is this pop-up some of you have mentioned? We did see the dedicated location on our Koningsdam trip but didn't dine there. We are new to HAL and only have sailed on four of their ships. Am booked on Oosterdam for the first time, will there be a Sel de Mer pop-up on her? And if so where would it be located?
