1. My sister and I are thinking of booking the Splendor in October. We'd like 2 twin beds, on the floor, as opposed to an upper & lower bed. If we book either an inside or ocean view guarantee rate do we run the risk of being assigned to a room with upper & lower beds?

Inside guarantee is a "4A" or higher. A "1A" "bunkbed" cabin is a lower category. So you should get 4A or higher :)

  2. The only line I know that you have the ability to mark NO UPGRADE is Princess. If you have picked a cabin with Carnival you will get that cabin unless it is an accessible cabin and you don't need that type. If you get a call from the Upgrade Fairy it will most likely be an attempt to upsell you. A totally free upgrade is unusual. Cruised Carnival 33 times and never offered an upgrade, either free or an upsell opportunity.

Actually, Princess and Holland America have a shared booking platform. You have to proactively choose "No upgrade" for them. Also, you can choose to only upgrade to the next cabin class ie, inside to oceanview if it's available, or only a particular side of the ship.

    Hope that helps! :)

  3. Like I posted before we were placed in a HC cabin by Carnival. We loved the cabin. It was all on one level and it worked great for husband. He was able to enjoy the cruise and not be in pain.

We are leaving in September on the Liberty again and again we are in a HC cabin and put my sister in the cabin we had before. She has had 5 strokes and has mobility issues and needs one level and needs railings for the shower.

Do either of them need wheelchairs-NO but they do have issues that make a regular cabin not work for either of them. A handicap cabin has all the things that my husband and sister needs. I do not feel bad about taking a HC cabin because they are needed. And their accounts are marked as Handicap.

    Off Soap Box Now.

You have need of an accessible cabin. So you are right. Not sure about the spa cabin amenities being lost due to a bump...sounds like a two and a half call session to Carnival :p

  4. If there is one country I would want to have a passport, its Mexico. We take our passports where and when ever we cruise, no matter where we go.

It the best, but some people don't have the option...so even the best laid plans can be thwarted by one omission. Having the ability to board a cruise ship with alternate documents has saved a few vacations...

  5. For clarification the copy has to be a government-issued copy, not a photocopy. If the original is lost then you have to get a copy from the county of birth.

Some have a raised seal, some have another method. My copy has a purple ink stamp on unique paper. It's much different from a simple photocopy.

Also, only the birth certificate is needed if the traveler is less than 16 years old.

    Hope that helps. :)

  6. I booked balcony guarantee. My sister booked balcony guarantee. Our bookings, along with other relatives, are linked for dining purposes. We just got our rooms assigned and we are next to each other. My DH is freaking out because he did not want to be next to my sister. Is there anything we can do?

The ONE time someone DOESN'T want to be next door...:D:D:D

Call Carnival and see if they can be moved to another cabin in the same class (8A, 8B, etc). What cabins were they assigned?

  7.
I have a 24 hour hold on an inside cabin for $569 pp on a 8 day leaving in Sept. Final payment is due by 6/22.

Any chance this price will go lower after final payment?
What's the lowest you've seen for an 8 day?

The cruise departs during hurricane season. The kids will be back in school.

    Thanks for responding.
I deduce that you are going on the 09/06/2014 Carnival Freedom. I see a super saver rate for 519.00 + tax if you are booking 2 people in a guaranteed inside cabin. :D
  8. He has had success so far, great! He must be proud :)

My idea? Get his buy-in, and input. This is his life, and also his vacation, so get him in on the game plan:

    1) Have him write down what has worked for him so far.

    2) Have him write down his plan for continuted weight loss up to the day of the cruise.

    3) Have him write down a plan he comes up with for his continuing success on the cruise, and allow for fun and some splurging on his vacation.

    4) Have him pick a "theme song" for his game plan and put it on his ipod/cellphone, ect.

    5) Make it fun!

Voila! Now it's HIS decision, and plan to follow. You haven't stated when this cruise is happening, but if it is far enough away, maybe this will cause him to view it as a goal, and work even harder to lose some weight before hand, and the cruise and vacation will be his reward.

PS I've lost some weight by eliminating bread and gluten and staying low carb. I hear Guy's burgers can be served w/out a bun :D

  9. So frustrating ! Sailing in a couple days, and the prices on my interior cabin has gone down 55% - but my online travel agent can't offer me on board credit, upgrade or anything else. Carnival won't talk to me. Any ideas on how I can get a better room, or something that won't make me feel like I payed double the price of everyone else around me? :)

Do you know what rate code you were booked into? Are there simply no available cabins? Is it past the date where they can add or book rooms? (Being two days out that can happen).

Once you board, if you couldn't get anywhere before, go ask if they have upgrades available. Someone may have either cancelled last minute, or was a no-show.

Enjoy your cruise regardless. Good luck! :D
