In the Bond warehouse, the guide told us that the oldest they had in stock (at the moment) dated back to 1968 ie 55years old and yes, it was blended to make Johnny Walker and sold exclusively to the USA. -

I really liked the 12 year old single malt “Blair Athol”. I didn’t care for the “Isle of Jura” as it was a bit too “peaty / smoky”for me. However it was a great visit all round and we thoroughly enjoyed the sampling and refreshments after. -

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Although thundery showers are forecast here as well. Although the sun is always nice, we need the rain for the grass and crops. Always a tough balancing act ! -

Update: This is “little Miss Sleepy head” a short while later, enjoying the fresh air, lush grass and the scenery. Tough life but someone’s got to do it ! Lol. -

Our crossing on the QM2 last week was absolutely fabulous and very enjoyable. The weather was not great but who cares when you are onboard such a beautiful ship. The food was fantastic and we met many lovely people from all walks of life. We particularly enjoyed the excellent music when in the chart room for a refreshment or two, and the insight talks I attended about Concorde were absolutely fascinating. Today we went to the 9-11 memorial and museum which has been beautifully done and very poignant. Tomorrow, it’s a possible visit to Central Park then back to the U.K on Monday night. It’s very hot here in New York. -

Yes, I’ve just seen the weather forecast. Looks like we won’t be on deck for sail away then. Oh well,…it is what it is. -

We are currently sitting in our hotel in Southampton with a refreshment after earlier waving goodbye to friends who sailed in Celebrity Silhouette. We board “Mary” tomorrow. We are very much looking forward to a very relaxing week as we sail across the pond. -

Oh, and I was also able to finally log on to our QM2 cruise and complete our boarding details etc. I did this at 7 AM this morning, nice and early on the first available day and was gobsmacked to see that we were allocated a boarding time of 3:45 PM ! Oh well,....it is what it is....... -

Had a great day today walking round the Balmoral Estate to see the Cairns that Queen Victoria erected for her family and her beloved Albert. Amazing. -

The reservations for the sky Garden are free but this saves having to queue on the day, especially at a weekend. -

Yes thank you. Next up is the QM2 in July. We should have been on her two weeks ago out to New York but I had decided months ago to skid that one out to July to use up airline vouchers. That was a stroke of luck. -

Today it is a beautiful sunny day here in Scotland, which is a pleasant change, although the temperature last night dipped down to 1 Deg C. I sure like many of you, I have been following the Safarigal cruise blog as she sails on the QM2 at the moment. It makes very entertaining reading and has made us look all the more forward to our Transatlantic in July. -
