  1. Am afraid he does charge a sizeable fee. However, most of the bill actually goes towards the cost a hiring a room at the vets surgery as it has to be done there due to the fact he had to be sedated. Thinking about the bill again, it was less than what my son paid last year to get a crown fitted. For peace of mind, pain relief and for his well-being it was money well spent. For his usual six monthly dental check ups etc, the Dentist normally comes to the yard and does all the basic stuff there and that costs around the same I pay for a filling.
  2. Thank you. We love him very much and he has been a big part of our family for 15 years now.
  3. My day today, involved taking this man on a visit to the Dentist to get a molar tooth removed. Never an easy task with a 600kg horse. Fortunately, it all went well and it came out fairly easily and he is now safely back to his cosy stable with a nice big deep bed of straw and a big bucket of slushy mash to eat.
  4. We arrived home in Scotland late yesterday afternoon after leaving Buenos Aires on Saturday lunchtime. It was a very bumpy, long (16hrs total) and uncomfortable overnight flight to LHR but we have had worse. Today after a bit of a late morning, the washing machine has been working hard and it was a lovely day to hang the wash out. It is now very much back to reality and it’s back to shovelling up some dodgy looking “stuff” at the horse yard tomorrow and a big list of chores! The trip to Antarctica was the fulfilment of a life long dream and was beyond expectations. A truly stunning and very different world. I would do it all again tomorrow. We are now already counting down the days till our QM2 trip crossing in the summer.
  5. As I write this we are sailing up the Beagle Channel and we dock In Ushuaia tonight. We then fly to Buenos Aires tomorrow for another night, then the next day, we are off again to see the Iguazu Falls.
  6. On this trip, I have taken just shy of 2000 pics so forgive me and I won’t bore you with much more. Especially as this thread is for fellow Cunard cruisers and our current trip is with another line. However, our next trip will be our 2nd time on the beautiful QM2 and we very much look forward to that. That said, to any of you of a certain age who are thinking of doing something out of your comfort zone, then I can highly recommend a trip to Antarctica. It has been by far and away, the most beautiful and amazing place we have ever been to. We only wish we had done it earlier when we were a little bit younger. (We are both in our mid 60’s). I would do it all again tomorrow but my wife found it a little but hard going at times due to her rheumatism etc but to her credit she did it all but but it was tiring at times. Don’t leave until it is too late.
  7. At Cuverville Island today. Along with over 7,000 Gentoo Penguins!
  8. We had to say the magic password before he would let us pass.!
  9. It’s a toasty 30C here in Buenos Aires today. Will try and go and see Eva Peron’s tomb tomorrow.
  10. Today, we finally leave to fulfil a lifetime dream of ours and major bucket list adventure, where we are off to Antarctica. We fly to Buenos Aires tonight, (16hrs) and then down to Ushuaia on Sat where we board the ship. After 2 days of crossing of the Drake Passage, we hope to conduct several landings ashore for 5 days before heading back. We then go to see the Iguazu Falls before heading home again. We mulled over this for some time but took the view that if we don’t do this now we will never go as we are not getting any younger. Next up after this, is a more sedate QM2 crossing in July.
  11. We went round to the pub earlier for a refreshment or two and then came home around 8pm as it was starting to get busy. We are now sitting at home with a drink and some snacks and will quietly see in the new year. All the best to everyone in 2023.
  12. Meant to be “I hope you all have a nice break”
