I originally booked the same cabin for the back to back. I got a free balcony casino offer in January 2023 and was shocked to learn it worked on the Celebration. It came to $515 with gratuities per week and included free drinks everywhere for me, winning!  About a week later I read a review from Jimbo when he was in a 15th deck Exel Aft Suite on the Celebration. I had looked at them but thought I would never be able to afford one. It got me thinking though so I checked and with my offer it was $3600 which about half price, hmmmm….I’m impulsive so it didn’t take long to pull the trigger, double down win!

We loved our extended balcony cabin and will be very happy to book one again. It is definitely a bit smaller and narrower but so well designed we didn’t feel cramped. The extra USB plugs are a huge plus and so is the glass shower. The bathroom while small has some neat extra storage nooks and a small cupboard I really appreciated. We were in one that had the bed by the bathroom which we like much better than the traditional layout and I will look for that in the future. The stool/storage cube is the best junk drawer ever! And the balcony was heaven, so spacious, private and protected from the sun. The hubby practically lived out there when we were in the room and I spent way more time than normal. I loved the loungers and it was never too hot which it usually is for me.

We walked back to taxi stop which is in a town square type area on the water. As we were waiting I realized the sun had gone down and it was getting dark so our entire cruise back to the hotel would be in the dark. Wow, it was a beautiful evening and seeing all the homes and yachts all lit up was a totally different experience than this afternoon. We were on one of the small water taxis but it also had a bar which was an ice chest with canned cocktails, beer and wine. Hubby had a beer and I had a plastic cup of wine for 6 bucks each, it must have been top shelf!😜 It was a super relaxing ride home under the moon and stars, I am so glad we started with Happy Hour and I highly recommend the same if you do a full tour. The last stop is Bokampers and we pulled up at 9:10, only 10 minutes behind schedule. We thought about going in for a night cap which we would have definitely done in our younger days but it was already 10 minutes past hubby’s bedtime. 🤣🤣 Bokampers is a great sports bar, it’s huge and has all the games on. Thank goodness we had leftovers and snacks in our fridge for a late dinner. This drinking dinner thing is saving $$ but we are starting to really look forward to all the meals we will be having on the ship with almost zero effort.

I... I feel like we were just here...

    ANYWAY, It's almost GO Time!

Norwegian Pearl | Built by MEYER WERFT in Papenburg

Well, this time around @HelloItsMeB will be along for the adventure! How much we get from her? VERY much TBD....

I'll be updating the background running up to this journey as we go, so stay tuned and follow along if you're so inclined - it'll be a long, rambly, photographic mess, per usual.

We booked several months ago, this sailing is a 10 day Mediterranean RT from Trieste. The website says Venice (Trieste), but we know what that means. We are 48 hours from flying Air France DFW-CDG-VCE, so gotta scramble....

All Right Scrappy!!!-Time to Fly Like an Eagle!!! like St. Mark's dropout Steve Miller (Mood Music)

Scrappy, just like Steve Miller this goes to show that you don't have to "graduate" from a snooty, snobby  school like St. Marks to be a success (but it probably wouldn't have hurt to attend for a few years).

    From John Heald today:

"Yesterday ( Sunday) I dared to take a day away from not answering questions and while I rested my weary mind and thighs someone posted a comment that is doing the rounds on one of the cruise Facebook pages and on Tit Tock.

The basis of this post reads:

“I have been on 30 cruises. I smoke on the balcony. I paid for the cruise. The steward always brings an ashtray with $50 tip.”

And so let me cut to the chase before I carry on. This chap, along with the lady who was also on Tit Tock showing how to drink water from the bottles in the cabin without breaking the seal have both been banned from cruising with us ever again."

  5. If it was simply a matter of economics I wished they'd just keep the Vista Havana concept but open it up to maybe 50-75 more cabins-it still, would rarely be crowded but they could substantially increase revenue since they are getting a pretty high premium for those Havana cabins. The aren't getting the same premium on the new Havanas- at least when I have checked. I've got an aft-extended balcony on the Jubilee soon so I'll still get the pool view but wasn't going to pay premium for a shaded glorified jacuzi.

  6. In honor of those who courageously faced the perhaps the most daunting moment in the last Century prior to storming the Normandy beaches 80 years ago I'd like to share the comments of my father- a Lt. Commander in the Navy-who was in charge of a LST landing craft on the morning of June 6,1944. He wrote his feelings to his soon to be wife, my mother. He wrote in a letter we still have:

"How did I so mismanage my life to put myself in the situation that I am in today"

Love you Dad and I've been thinking about the courage of that generation in awe over the last few days

With you on the feelings about news. I do watch our local 5 o’clock and the nightly news with Nora Jones.

When they have “panels” it seems like such a competition. Just report and don’t share your political opinions.

We don’t shout in this house and I don’t want to listen to it on tv.

Opinions from different perspectives are fine -one of the biggest problems with network news is the professional class of news personalities whose only apparent job is to appear on news shows to express their biased paid-for opinions. If these guys have another job its usually for political "think-tanks" or non-profit political entities with clear political agendas. This results in debates between analysts with well orchestrated  "talking points" rather than independent analysis of the news.  Its boring, re-gurgitated verbal diahrrea and the networks should be much more transparent with the conflicts of interest these personalities bring to the debate.

Yeah I thought about accepting this girl's application but unfortunately she was disqualified because she was too young for a Passport and couldn't travel over-seas without her parents

Just backwashed the pool- after completely opening up the filter bubble last week for a deep clean- and its pouring again. I think I need a french drain or something to keep the dirt/mud out of the pool. I may never get the pool clean
