  1. Hi Cruise Critic Family,

We are going to book the 3 for free Alaska in June 2015. Can someone tell me which Alaska cruise you liked best and why. We are open to any ship, really which voyage would show us most wildlife.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Yes, we were midship on Caribe C425 as our choice on the other ships we have cruised. We were a little disappointed with the life boats, but if we had our chair all the way back to the sliding door, you wouldn't see them. Not sure if higher would help.

  3. Just a few comments. We always book the same cabin or close by. C435 on most ships. The balcony is small, but doable for us. The one thing I did not like and did not know about, when we look straight down, we saw the life boats. Never had this on any other ship. If we pulled our chairs back to the door, we would not see the boats. I wish I had read this before. Seems like this is our first cruise that the boats are not tucked under. Just my observation and in no way did it ruin our cruise.

  4. Thanks for the information Chris, and this info we know, but many might not. Regarding the post cruise survey, we had a situation with a bar manager on the Royal last month. I was discussing it with another bar server and it got back to the manager. He was so insistant to make it right to us, almost overboard to where it was embarrasing. Found out later that the survey is the most important part of their points/keeping their contracts and management mainly looks at the negative comments. With that said, we did not make any negative comments. It was the first night and his first time on the Royal. Things happened for different reasons and we don't know everyones situation. The entire cruise was great and every staff member was wonderful. We ALWAYS keep to auto tip on and also tip most servers. Just wanted to mention how important the surveys are to the crew members.

  5. After reading this thread, it prompted me to write my review. As soon as it is reviewed by Cruise Critic, it will be posted. I believe my review is honest and how most feel about the Royal. Take time to read if you are considering cruising on the Royal. I have changed my mind to not cruising again on her again to a strong maybe. And I am not embarassed to sign my name. I still loved most about the Royal.

I did forget to mention all the very nice people we met on the ship.

  6. Just off the Royal a few weeks ago. Did we have a great time? YES! Will we cruise with her again, probably not. We had no problems with the toilet paper, balcony, stair situation. Food is subjective and we did not go hungry. We just prefer a smaller ship. I will be writing my review sometime in the next few days and will give her 4 stars. 4 1/2 if I could. We are soo happy we had a chance to sail her and she is beautiful. Anyone that has any concerns about the Royal, should not worry. reading the reviews before we cruised did not even bother us. Come on people, get real. You are on one the new newest and most beautiful ships, cruising, in warm weather and on vacation. NO complaining here.

  7. Yes, just off the Royal two weeks ago. Everyday they had a sign up that tomorrow was booked full. On the Eastern cruise, it was very windy and not sure I would have paid for the week. Now that the prices are almost double. Secret, try deck 7 aft. Nice little retreat and it's free. Bathrooms are right when you exit to the deck, bar close by.

    Have fun!

  8. Adults only retreat on the Royal was packed two weeks ago, but it was also very windy for the Eastern Caribbean cruise. Found secret lounge chairs with cusions on deck 7. Get there early and do a small bit of hogging while you eat breakfast. We loved this area, close to the water and very quiet for reading, close to bar inside and bathrooms are as you walk out the door to the deck. Please do not hog on my next cruise, if I ever cruise Royal again ;)
  9. Used to book Baja and now we book Caribe midship. Just off the Royal, and with all the talk about it on this site, it was all true. The balcony is the same size of everything else. Small! But we made it work. Next on the Emerald and we have Caribe. Can't wait for November :)

  10. Not to be a downer here, but my ex-boyfriends father passed away from a masive heart attack using heart meds from Mexico. He was only 52. While they could never prove anything, my thoughts are it is not worth the chance. He was Living in San Diego at the time, it was easy to get whatever you wanted in Tijuana....Just saying

  11. OceanPrince, thanks for the photos and review. I was on the ship with you sailing 3/16/2014. I also think the positives out weigh the negatives. I am happy that I got to sail on the Royal. Do I have other favorite ships, of course. But all the things you mentioned are true. She is beautiful and one must experience at least one time.

    Happy Crusing!

  12. Good luck! We had our bungalow reserved for Princess Cays while cruising on the Royal week before last. We missed Princess Cays due to rough waters and not able to tender. There were rumors that we would get another port such as Grand Turk, but that did not happen. Just had an extra sea day. Still had a great cruise....

  13. Hello Fellow CC,

Looking to book a Mediterranean cruise sometime in 2015. Really want to visit Venice either starting there or ending. What is the best time of year for the best weather. Any and all comments will help. Normally we are Caribbean/Mexico cruisers. Love the warm weather.

  14. We have used the same person, actually two as our first personal vacation planner moved to another department for years. I don't really get OBC's from her or gifts and I watch the Princess website on a regular basis to see when prices drop. Then I email her and get the lower price. Most of the time I use future cruise credits and then a lot of time Princess gives you additional OBC's. Our next cruise in November I already have $200.00 OBC's. Just call Princess and ask for a PVP.

    Good Luck!

  15. I think if you want to bring it on, you can carry or put in the luggage. We just got off the Royal last week and brought box wine, some other liquid items and some mixers in our checked bag. Everything went through. We also brought on 2 bottles of wine in our carry ons. Have a great trip!
