I posted this in response to another topic:

My last cruise put us in San Juan 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

I looked into Viator’s Rainforest Zipline in the El Yunque Foothills.  From San Juan, the last pickup is 3:00 p.m., so we could not make it.   [I am not affiliated with Viator, but it is my tour provider of choice.  You might be able to save some money by going with the actual tour provider, but I like the convenience of all-in-one planning.]

Puerto Rico has some beautiful beaches, but not right by the Port, and a 3:30 arrival makes it too late to enjoy a beach day.

There are phosphorescent beaches, but distance from the port and the 11:00 p.m. departure time rules those out.

Bacardi rum factory – Bacardi tours are very limited due to Covid and there was no tour on our day in port.

My best option:  Viator’s San Juan Catamaran Sunset Sail.  5:00 p.m. departure, for two hours, so this worked for us.  It meant no time for a walking tour of Old San Juan, but the view of El Morro from a small boat on the water is amazing, it lets you feel how massive these fortresses were!  We were back on board in time for a late dinner!

I appreciate this suggestion! Struggling for ideas with same timeframe problem.

Stay at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. There are five great places to eat right near the hotel. They are Louie Bossi’s or the Tuscan Grill for great Italian food. Rocco’s Tacos, American Social and Big City Grill. Louie Bossi’s is my favorite. Great drinks, great food, and a great place to people watch. The place is very noisy and always very busy. Louie Bossi’s, Big City Grill and Rocco’s Tacos are owned by the same company. The Riverside Hotel is also a very nice place to stay too.

Thank you so much! I’m glad I asked here because this one escaped all my searches somehow, but this is the winner, just booked! Appreciate your time and suggestion. 🙂

You could buy Cheers ahead of time using your Carnival Credit card.  Once it has posted in your credit card account you then can use your 25,000 points towards a statement credit of 250.00 towards yours Cheers purchase. Does that make sense? I hope it doesn't come across as confusing.

That makes perfect sense! Thank you! ❤️

  4.  I’ll finally be redeeming my fun points for my next cruise. I’m seeing with 25k points I can get either $200 onboard credit or $250 bar cash. We always buy cheers in advance but my question is, can I use the bar cash to buy cheers once on the ship? I loose the 10% discount from pre purchasing but still feel like I’d be getting more bang for my buck. Annoying the redemption rate isn’t the same for obc vs bar cash. 🙄

    Thanks!

Just ice cream shakes, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla or any combination of the three, I did choco-vanilla mixed with a swirl of chocolate sauce, DH did strawberry-vanilla with a swirl of chocolate sauce, both were so good! Also, they will put booze in them if you want! You get them from the coffee bar or the shake spot next to the coffee bar, depending on which ship you are on.

Can you get booze in them with cheers? 🤔 I feel like that's 2 drinks and they won't let you. I can't believe I never thought about shakes being included!

  6. We used spencer Ambrose as well several years ago, taking the boat to the base of the piton. We Didn't have enough time for lunch on the beach, we got our food and ate on the boat ride back to the ship! Read my sunshine review for more details :)

ps it was a tough hike but so worth it! Bragging rights forever!!!

  7. I ordered two appetizers, a salad , a meal and dessert last week on the Dream, there was no problem. I think two dinner entrees is where they will draw the line. I highly recommend the hazelnut ice cream for dessert.. not too filling and very delicious.

  8. I did Chefs table on Conquest last year, we all met in the lobby area and were offered champagne while we waited for tour to get started. The champagne was flowing throughout our tour of the galley and in the galley we were given atleast 5 different appetizers that were explained in medium detail to us along with a quick chocolate melting cake tutorial. After that we were taken to a special dining room just outside of the MDR and seated at a large table and offered red or white wine with dinner but I do not recall any pairings. Wine was unlimited though. Sounds like each ship might be different?
